  • This is more or less my diary for AD1 recap. AD1 is your first week at Amazon as a manager. My training took place in Seattle, WA at the corporate office. I documented what we did/learned and my thoughts after each day. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask away!

    Hi Jordan, Thank you for this video, I am preparing for AD1 in the last week of January. All the fun places that you visited, I have a list of places that a good friend has already suggested. I didn't know what to wear, and your video makes it more easy to select appropriately. You were there during the summer. I hope you are enjoying your experience as Area Manager,

      Congratulation! AD1 was a blast so be sure to make the most of it! Yea clothing was extremely casual so really wear whatever you would normally wear for the most part.

    Bro thank you so much. I’m heading seattle tomorrow. Just one question though, what should I bring to wear? Business casual? Or just casual clothing

    • @jordanattaway114
      @jordanattaway114  Před 9 měsíci

      Sorry I just saw this. But honestly wear whatever. It’s super casual tbh. Even on site people wear whatever they want. Seattle is a blast tho have fun!

    Hey Jordan, thank you for this video, I was just wondering what was the appropriate dress code for AD1 as well as working on-site?

    • @jordanattaway114
      @jordanattaway114  Před měsícem

      You can pretty much wear whatever you want. It’s SUPER casual. Like obviously you can’t wear revealing clothes or “offensive” clothing. But other than that it’s whatever. I wear a T-shirt jeans (sometimes shorts) and a hat basically every day. Some managers wear sweatpants even.

    Hey Jordan. Congrats on starting your job. I just recently accepted the offer. Just want to ask some specific questions about AD1. Did you have to share a room with anyone? Did anyone bring their family? My wife really wants to visit Seattle. I wonder if I can bring her on this trip. Also, what do you mean by choosing to fly home early on Friday? Do you get to choose your flight time? Did Amazon book the ticket and hotel for you or did you buy them and get reimbursed later? Love your video. Keep them coming.😊

    • @jordanattaway114

      Thanks and congrats to you too!
      You do not share the room with anyone. I don’t know anyone who brought anyone but I think someone brought their spouse but I’m not sure.
      When you fill out the form for your hotel and flight request you can put a preferred time to leave and they will try to accommodate that. I was just saying it might be better to leave in the morning rather than the evening but if you have your wife I wouldn’t worry as much about that tbh.
      Amazon books the hotel and flight for you. Sometimes you have to put a deposit down at the hotel. You will pay for everything else basically and get it reimbursed later.
      Thanks I appreciate it. I’ve got a few more already filmed I’m going to try and catch up this weekend and edit to release them soon!
      Let me know if you have any other questions

      @jordanattaway114 Thanks, man. Your answers has been super helpful.
      I do have some new questions after getting an email about the associate experience week. There is not much information about this online. So what is the associate experience week schedule like? Would it be like my email said from 8 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday? Is it going to be day shift, or do they randomly assign you? I am trying to figure it out so I can schedule my appointments around work for that week.
      Also, when do AMs know their real shift schedule? Like on week 3?

      @@nickywan334 outside of corporate stuff (AD1 & LEW) everything is kinda the Wild West cause it’s up to your site and they all do stuff differently. Your online trainings and your overall onboarding plan should basically be the same but how it plays out can vary. So AEW can be different but for the most part you’ll be M-F. I was 7:30-4 each day but I had friends at other sites who worked slightly different schedules but it should be something very similar to that. So if you have an email saying 8-5 that’s very believable. It’s in days because that’s usually when your senior leadership and stuff works. When you found out your actual schedule depends entirely on your site. Whenever they decide what they actually want to do with you they will tell you. I was M-F for 3 weeks.

    Hey Jordan, I just left Seattle and I was wondering when you got back to your site, did you receive your actual work schedule?

    • @jordanattaway114
      @jordanattaway114  Před 4 měsíci +1

      It took 2-3 weeks before they decided what schedule they wanted me on. But I have heard from others that it can be faster or even take longer so it really depends on your specific site tbh

    Hi Jordan, I’m going to AD1 in 2 weeks and wanted to know:
    -Did you bring a backpack with you when you went for training all 3 days or did they provide one for you?
    -Did you take notes during the lessons and did they give you info packets on stuff?
    -What materials are good to bring overall so I’m fully prepared?
    Thank you!! Also, you videos was super informational🙏

    • @jordanattaway114
      @jordanattaway114  Před 3 měsíci +2

      They provided a backpack when we got our laptops.
      I took some notes but not a lot. Tbh nothing you learn during AD1 will be crucial to your Amazon career just have fun and make as many connections as possible. The connections will be valuable.
      Honestly just take clothes and that’s really all you need. Treat it more like a vacation than anything. It’s VERY basic information about the company as a whole at AD1 and isn’t vital stuff.

    May be a weird question, but how was everyone dressed? I’ve been with Amazon a few years now and just promoted to L4 and will be attending AD1 in a couple days. I’m used to the casual dress of the FC…jeans and a hoodie or shorts and t-shirts. If I show up in jeans and a graphic tee, am I gonna feel underdressed? Should I be prepared to dress slightly more “professionally”?

    • @jordanattaway114
      @jordanattaway114  Před 2 měsíci

      I mean for the most part everyone was dressed casually like in FC. The trainers are dressed a little nicer but we were all casually dressed. Jeans and T-shirt will be just fine

    Does Amazon reimburse you for the Lyfts to and from the airport?
    Who would you contact for those if they do reimburse?

    • @jordanattaway114
      @jordanattaway114  Před 2 měsíci

      Yes they reimburse you for everything. You just upload it to an expense report and then it shows up in your bank account a few days later

    Did you have to share a hotel room with anyone or did you get your own personal room

    • @jordanattaway114
      @jordanattaway114  Před 4 měsíci

      It’s a personal room. A lot of people will have the same hotel as you but not the room.

    Hi im bout to get ny buissness degree soon but have no management experience will they still hire me & i gain my experience at Amazon how are you liking the job

    • @jordanattaway114
      @jordanattaway114  Před 7 měsíci +1

      You don’t necessarily need any management experience, they hire recent grads all the time.
      As far as my experience goes I personally and okay with it, but I fully understand why people don’t last now. This job is not for the faint of heart. You will be stressed out at times and you will put in a lot of hours that maybe you weren’t expecting. And you will most likely realize the pay isn’t great for what you do. That being said, I believe in this company and I plan to stick it out and move up within in. If that’s your goal then come on. If you are just wanting a job for a short time period then this isn’t good I can promise lol. Although if you get hired after peak it will be wayyyy less stressful. Overall I am satisfied with the job though
