- Let's take a summer drive downtown Portland together.
A little blast from the past here for me and driving around my old stomping grounds. I used to live in south Portland and SW Portland. In the last 10 years since living in Portland, honestly not much has changed. Portland has a small town vibe and is still as weird as ever.
Even my favorite food-carts are still in business around Portland State University. If you're lookin to visit Portland, NW 21st and 23rd is a good place to start for brunch, lunch, coffee or beer. Unique pop-ups have interesting goodies and forget-me-nots to take home after your wonderful trip to Portland.

This really brings back a lot of memories. It also proves that the whole city isn't a burned out shithole, like the media would have you believe. Sure, Portland has some rough hoods, what big city doesn't? I really miss the bridges, the rivers, the beach, the gorge and the mountains. Portland pretty much has it all.
The old Portland or the new Portland will always be waiting for you.
Ye
Such a beautiful city!
I agree. PNW!!!
I’m looking at videos like this to analyze a potential trip in 2024, I barely got my license and I would love to visit Portland so I appreciate this video
Nice!! I hope you can visit soon.
Moving there soon. Looks amazing!
Awesome!! You’ll love it there. That’s my hometown.
love the pacific northwest and thoroughly enjoyed this video, watched the entire video from beginning to end. would love to see a Driving tour video of downtown seattle.👍💯
@bigtone718 you are the best. Thanks for watching and enjoying. There are lots of Seattle videos uploaded already and more to come!!
Beautiful day 🌞
Anything beautiful day for sure.
Beautiful city! So green! I'm from Europe and was just wondering why are the traffic lights on the opposite side of the intersection? I have never seen this in Europe. Here they are always on the near side
Interesting. Not sure the reason for the traffic lights. Maybe just simply different infrastructure. I’m excited to drive in Europe next summer and see these near signals you speak of.
@@ksvagabond Thanks for your answer. 🙂The only issue you might have with near side placements is that if you are the first car at a light and if you have stoped too close to the light it's a bit hard to see it. That's why the stop line is usually placed further back. Also at interesections with unprotected left turns the drawback is that when you wait at the middle for oncoming traffic you can't see when the light changes to amber since it's behind you.
Personally I find the US setup better
@christinamayers3234 Those are great points. So long as everybody is driving safe and USING BLINKERS, then I'm cool with either way.
Media describes Portland as a homeless and drug infested, dystopian ghost town... But WOW! This changed my perspective, what an absolutely gorgeous city. I'm certain it is troubled and riddled with issues. But at its core, the beauty is there! Truth prevails!
@khem3275 I totally agree. Any major city in America or the world is described negatively these days. It's not the truth (mostly). Especially Portland.
I remember going to Portland in summer of 2018. I saw lots of tents, homeless, public drug use, and shouting. I can't imagine how bad it is now.
@@JonnyBeoulve well this video was posted a whole 8 months ago, if you want to see for yourself...
Such a beautiful city in such a beautiful area by the cascades, I love it here, lovely people, beautiful trees, and gardens, and so much to do any day of the week, honestly not that many other places I would rather be
The PNW has it all and 4 seasons!!
Portland was sweltering hot as fuck in the summer, I was dying 🥵. Luckily however, no mass forest fires within the state🙂
I couldn't agree more. But also I think everywhere in America was so so hot in the summer.
Most expensive city in America; now I see why: it's marvelous.
Are you sure you’re talking about Portland? 😆
Raleigh on the rise ! #GLENWOOD SOUTH , NORTH HILLS RALEIGH
LMAO its not 😂
Great drive my friend
Thanks for the visit.
Reminds me of a west coast Providence, RI.
@tomcotter4299 interesting. That’s a very uniting observation.
One of My favourite cities in US, especially Cumberland area, right beside forest ❤
Cumberland is some insider knowledge. Everyone just says Burnside or Powell’s. Did you live there or something?
@@ksvagabond i visited my friend's house there, it was beautiful, you can look at whole City from pittock mansion
@@ksvagabond i visited my friend's house there, neighbourhood is just beautiful, you can see the city from Pittock mansion point view on mountain, I also remember visiting a zoo
Is this Portland Oregon? You should elaborate in the description.
For sure. Thanks for watching.
27:40 😮 the gas prices. In Houston it’s $2.45 right now.
Portland and Seattle have been crazy the last few years with gas prices. I think I peaked around $5.50 for a gallon of regular. OUCH!
Moved away 7 years ago. A lot of new construction.
Summertime in Portland is perfect.
I just home that the government pulls their heads out their asses and clean it up.
I agree with everything you said. In the last 2 years it seems things have gotten better. I hope it continues.
From the Uk.
5:58 you turned right when the light was red.
Is this a thing?
Some turns are permitted on red. American drive on the right side of the road too. That could be the reason for your question. Can you not do this in the UK @mantawray9672
❤❤❤
✌️❤️
Remember when Portland was really cool and trendy 15 years ago? haha
Portland had a good year. Thanks to that show Portlandia I think. haha
I mean, I live in Portland and it’s pretty cool and trendy now, as if trends really matter, I just love it here
It has had a rough last few years, but it's not as bad as it was in 2020-2021. Downtown was thriving this last year.
sooo pretty
Thank you for watching, friend.
The city where “peaceful protesters” burned federal courthouses and looted during the summer of love 🤣 lots of drugs and crime
There certainly is a dark side. That's most mid to large level cities in America/world.
5s in and you already see a homeless tent
Welcome to Portland/any major city.
this isn’t just a portland thing zach
@@rizeth_yt ppl are so negative about portland
