Kyoto 4K Drive: Kyoto Station, Gion District
let's drive around historic and beautiful Kyoto together.
When you think about travel, places and people, and you close your eyes and imagine what it might be like to be standing, exactly in the place you imagine, how close do you get? Think about London. Think about it. That's exactly what it's like. Now, Think about Seattle. Think about the people with blue hair getting upset about social injustices who are also all ready to go hiking at the drop of the hat. Boom you nailed it. I promise that when you imagine KYOTO, you're not even close.
It is such a foreign land that has avoided western interruption and still holds on to the beauty and tradition of Japanese past. The Edo period. Kimono. Geisha. Geta. The whole shebang. It's still here and it's 100x better than you could ever possibly imagine.
In 2015, first arriving in Kyoto, it was a much different scene than it is today. To be completely honest, there were less foreigners walking around in cargo pants and staring at google maps on there phone to find their Holiday Inn. So many cultural and fashion mistakes. Hospitality was at its highest. The idea of Japanese hospitality, manners and respect was well represented in traditional ryokans (Japanese style hotel) and gave you a glimpse of how amazing this place and the people are. Now, things like self-check-in hotels and English speakers swine running rampant have soiled the beauty, Unless you still know where to look.

Born and raised here for nearly 16 years. I loved living out there as it was so nice to go to the beach or cruise around Coronado and downtown.

The same thing happened in SF that happened to cities like Detroit, Chicago and Cleveland. Put a black mayor in charge along with a bunch of progressive whites, and the city is looted, drug infested, crime ridden, smash and grabbed, and destroyed before you realize it. What a shame! Once an international city, it ends up like the cities named above. I worked in SF in the early to mid 1980's and you could eat off the street. Now druggies living in tents everywhere and doing and using their drug business right out in the open in front of law enforcement thanks to the mayor, Newsom, Pelosi and other progressives, the city has fallen on filthy times and off the international city want to see list.

I used to live in mid-town and it was busy and full of life. Now it's basically abandoned and sad. Good going CA voters.
