Written by Rolf de Heer and David Gulpilil as a collaborative project, CHARLIE'S COUNTRY stars Gulpilil as blackfella Charlie, who is getting older, and is out of sorts. The government's intervention is making life more difficult on his remote community, what with the proper policing of whitefella laws that don't generally make much sense, and Charlie's kin seeming more interested in going along with things than doing anything about it. So Charlie takes off, to live the old way, but in doing so sets off a chain of events in his life that has him return to his community chastened, and somewhat the wiser. - Krátké a kreslené filmy
Almost three years after his passing and I never knew him and I’m not Indigenous or even Australian but I miss him, he was my favourite. I cried when he passed away. Every time I watch back one of his scenes from anything he’s been in it makes me smile and feel proud of him. He was a great man. R.I.P.
RIP David Gulpilil (July 1, 1953 - November 29, 2021), aged 68
You will be remembered as a legend.

I watched this film on Netflix a couple weeks ago. It's so beautiful. Makes me want to cry some...
I just watched this at IFF Colombo. Extraordinary work!
Watched 'The Tracker' on a Qantas flight just a couple of weeks ago. It was this amazing film that led me to google for more Aboriginal movies. Found 'Charlie's Country'! I was deeply touched by the master piece of David Gulpilil! Let my kids watched together with me. They were in love with the character of 'Charlie'!
What a film The Tracker is and what an actor Gulpilil is!

I remember seeing Gulpilil in the early Seventies in Walkabout. I've been a fan ever since.
So looking forward to seeing this movie...
Wow just watching the trailer brought tears to my eyes.
NightHawk1870 I know! From only a two minute trailer without very much talking and you almost get a sense of the entire aboriginal struggle in Australia today.

Such a beautiful heartfelt real movie 🖤💜🧡💛💚💙
I fucking cried..
Great film
This gave me feels.
Wow that's powerful stuff. I know there's the whole racial aspect to this but it is well beyond it. Speaks to me way more as a man wanting his freedom to live his life his way without hurting anyone else. Of course others think they know what is best for him and take away his spear and tell him he can't hunt to feed himself. The tyranny of the powerful or the tyranny of the collective either way the free man, the individual, is trampled.
this movie is awesome, watch it, and learn from it... : )
I need to see this in Canada. Wider distribution please!
I wish I had the soundtrack for this film :'(
