I always loved that line. It perfectly captures the secrecy and order of the Assassin's that Pirates and Kingsmen aren't even aware of...
Except the irony is that in the actual game he hardly has a double life as an Assassin, like Blackbeard implied. In-game he's just a full-time pirate and wasn't (at least for most of the game) loyal to any secret cause, and his private affairs are the same as his public ones, chasing after a fortune.

Watching in 2019: i remember watched this way back years, got hyped like MAD. Bought it immediately for my PC, playing it non-stop for days. I mean i kinda stopped every once in a while to sleep, or eat, or brewing coffee, and then jumped right back on my chair. No game ever swallowed me entirely like this one.

I here ya mate, Black Flag is arguably one of my all time favorite video games. Odyssey has been a really good one too. Kind of reminds me of Black Flag. Beautiful artwork, cgi, fun gameplay, love the ability to fight ships at sea. Diving in the oceans for treasure and justs hours upon hours of extra game play. Left to do even after you complete the main story.

This is still the best AC game. The story is almost perfect they have ya crying when The Parting Glass starts.
The only one I would put above this one is AC 2. The legacy of Ezio is slightly above Edward.
I don't care what anyone says, that bit during the credits where you're just cruising along the seas with your daughter is my favorite part of the game, give me a whole game built around that please.

This is my favorite assassins creed trailer, many like the revelations trailer, but I like this one jus for the fact that THE BLACKBEARD legendary pirate, is telling the story of Edward and how even he wouldn’t mess with him

I think to say that X is the greatest AC game is very very subjective in this fanbase. Many said II, III, IV, Unity, I, Brotherhood, Origins... when they say X is the best game in the franchise, that X can be one of them, their answers are always varied.
I put them all equally at the same position in my list.

Just recently finished this game and I started to play it a month ago. Wow this is one of the best assassin creed and one of the best pirate games out there
The ending was well written and sad, especially the scene when Edward saw all of his deceased friends together. A truly great game
The parting glass song was beautiful. This was the one game that made me cry
Still, one of the best ac games ever even in 2019 I'm in awe at what they were able to accomplish and none of their other games has quite captured the naval combat as they did in this game. The characters were awesome and Edward is one of if not the most intriguing protagonist they ever came up with. My only quarrel was that I wish they delved into the characters a little more but everything else? mwuah!
The gameplay and cutscenes are incredible and filled with life. Even if the combat is easy, it still feels so damn smooth
@@wezzsimple6612 climbing is also great, it's simple but not so simple that you can't delve into your own way of parkouring the world you know? they lost that in origins and Odyssey because you can just climb everything there are no fancy little 'cheat' tricks you can do. And the cutscenes were fucking A, that scene where Anne bonny and Edward sit down after she lost her baby and they talk about everyone they've lost?? fucking BRILLIANT

Man this goes down as one of the best video games I ever played. I remember my senior year being up for hours playing it. I’ve always been a fan of pirates. To dive for treasure, sail a ship, and even have my own fleet of ships, was the dream. I’m glad I can always replay this game, sad the old days of gaming in high school are over.

Edward is the best Assassin in the franchise, he hasn't been taught by assassins, he's just a good fighter because he's tough, he's not smart in a intellectual way but he is quick witted and street smart, while you're reading a book he's the one whose picking your pocket behind you

After all these years still in my opinion the best Assassin's Creed game and still got that poster and needs to be remastered with 4k new clean visuals on current gen PS5/Xbox series X
I agree with you there but ubisoft might botch the remaster like they did with AC3 remastered, in that remaster the waters reflections and fluidity changed drastically for the worse and this game is all about being in large pools of water
So ubisoft either puts in work for the remaster (doubt they will) or we're stuck with this version (still looks great even for today's standards)

Edward would have been way way cooler if he were as committed to the brotherhood as ezio was. Thats how the trailer portrayed him. But in game.....he was just all moneymoneymoney.
Many_Lives I think that’s actually what makes him stand out as one of the better Assassin’s Creed protagonists though. He doesn’t have a long, tragic backstory of dead family members that were killed by Templars like every other protagonist, he’s just a carefree adventurer who lusts after wealth so he can prove to his family back home that he isn’t a failure who can’t provide for his wife. He masquerades as an Assassin because he originally thinks playing the part would lend him some coin from the Templars, but after he slowly starts to realize the damage that he’s done by doing so he learns to take responsibility by trying to prove himself and by being of actual use to the Assassins. By the end of the story he shows genuine change in his character, and I think Edward had a far better arc than any of the other protagonists besides maybe Ezio.
This was the last Assassins Creed game I was hyped for, that actually lived up to the hype

Origins was iconic, but probably more for the fact that it's based in Egypt, not so much the game itself.
One of the best games I’ve ever played. I mean this game came out almost a decade ago, for the ps3, 360 and Wii U. Here I am playing this game on my series X, and I’m still awestruck by how good this game looks. Obviously it has its flaws, but it’s still one of my all time faves.

I grew up playing this game on the 360 it was my first AC game and is my favorite, this is the best pirte game out there no other pirate game has even come close to being this good, i was oun and just did the story mission all those years ago but now with my more mature gamer mind i am doing another playthrough today but actually going to upgrade more and become an even better pirate than i was before. I loved that my most favorite pirate of all (Blackbeard) was in this game and you got to witness his fight in the game, dude would not go down without a fight, RIP Thatch you will be missed.
You know you're a total badass when even Blackbeard admits you're more of a killer and devil in battle then he himself is.
My god Edward was such a badass, makes me sad that Haythen would become a Templar, the very thing that Edward killed so many of.

I love this game, but this trailer really made me think we were getting a prototypical AC game in Black Flag. While that wasnt the case, it was still fun, and I love the fact that Edward eventually became a full Assassin, even leading the British Brotherhood and traveling the world; including to come of Ezio's temples

Never played this but will now. I love how they used a character's voice in the end of trailer to announce release date - has some cool realism to it.
