We Turned This Old Ford F-150 Into A Heavy Hauling Beast! Then It Completely Exploded...

- In this video we build our 1990 Ford F-150 a custom flat bed in under 30 minutes. David had some scrap wood laying around so we decided to see what we could make from the stuff in his yard! The result came out really cool, and then almost immediately failed as we raced it around our new course hauling nearly 1500 lbs of hay!

Love these videos. Very entertaining.
Think the term is Jerry-Rigged, don't know if that is derogatory, like who hasn't used a pop or beer can for a hole in the exhaust leak, or wire coat hanger to hold fallen exhaust.
I’ve used a left over fuel bulb from my outboard the siphon fuel. No fuelly aftertaste.
Old, cheap, reliable stuff is way more fun & badass than expesive, new, temperamental stuff. Love my '96 300 straight six with a 5 speed! 👍
The 300 L6 is one of the best engines ever made. Love mine too. Works beautifully with the MR5OD 5-speed transmission.
Really like these collabs with David with all the homemade/scratchbuilt stuff! Cheap but nice execution!
That 300 will outlive any motor today, it gives the Toyota 22R a big run for its money
Don’t forget Chrysler 318
@@waggitnshaggit6592 318
The slant 6 170
Chevy i6 line
Yea im not forgetting
Not the 2uzfe..
@@ToyotaNutjob million miles on my 87 f350 and towing for a good twice a week all its life at varying speeds
@@Project-gr6zy an 87 lol.. cool man... doubt they were even trouble free like my yota. Doubt that engine is smooth, doesnt have ac etc. I'll take my prestine magical 2uzfe
That flatbed doesn't look half bad actually. I have seen worse driving on the road. This is a lovely channel and the happy yak ranch just yes.
Seen worse driving down the road I've seen A 1996 F150 with half a bed missing, an alignment to where it is practically driving sideways, cab Leaning downwards off to the rear right and a bent frame
Fun random fact: the radiator fan assembly from a 2008-2012 Ford Escape Hybrid is an absolute perfect fit for this radiator. It even comes with a built in resistor, so you can get high and low speed on one of the fans.
Main reason for doing that swap is that Ford no longer makes the fan clutch, and all of the aftermarket ones are junk.
Adam Alvarez! Please contact me! I have a 1994 f-150 that my man left me in his will. Someone vandalized the steering column while I was sourcing a radiator.I did a lot of work myself. I don't trust shops. The mechanic we trusted is no longer able. The truck is awesome. Please, someone help me. I am a 63yr old lady.I desperately need to be able to use my truck.
@@evanderosborne4531 What advice do you need exactly? I have two, an '89 and a '96, and know my way around them pretty well.
Probably the most reliable vehicle Tommy has bought in the last year. 😂
That’s is correct. Although I did buy a bicycle that has been pretty reliable too. -Tommy
TFLclassics TFLcycles coming soon.

I love that they got Kevin Costner doing trucks too. He’s awesome
One of the best David videos and probably hands down the best no pavement needed video.
I haled 4 4x4 round bales with my 1985 f150 stepside with the 300 inline 6 and 4 speed manual 2 in the bed and 2 in a trailer with no problem.
That's honestly the coolest flatbed I ever saw. And when those pallets rot out just take them off and slap on some new free pallets
I want to see more of the orange Chevy truck that was in the background. Looks like a nice restomod project
nah, another LS swap. that's boring.
enutrof dr boring is right I’d rather keep it stock and throw in a Holley
I want a old farm truck like this, but I don’t want my HOA to hate me yet.
Eh, screw 'em. They're will always be plenty of people around to complain about what you do with your own property, just do what you want.
I think most of us can agree that hoa's can suck our left and right nut lol
You should see my camo 91 respectively named Rusty
Fast times at David’s yak ranch is my favorite series by far
30 minutes to construct a truck bed...amazing. I'd still be working on it after a couple of days.
P.S. Love the Subaru and the Honda..
The I-beam side skirts are the perfect finishing touch.
Fun video! TFLClassics is outshadowing the rest of TFL channels!
Six Shooter content is best content! You three getting creative, going on adventures, and making stuff while having fun is genuinely the most fun car content that I've gotten to enjoy since Motortrend left youtube! I never would have thought that wood pallets could be used to make a quick and cheap flatbed..... I also never would have guessed that it could look that good :P It wasn't the most durable, but my guess is that the 4 posts weren't tied together enough and, as the truck frame flexed with the hay on top, the 4 posts just flexed too much independently of each other and ripped the outside one in half. In other words, your foundation flexed apart! Thanks for the smile, guys, and I hope that you have many more good times ahead!
I love the TFL classics with Dave! Making 90s Fords Great Again! 👍
Gave a big smile to my day, guys. Keep it up.
One of the best episodes yet, young Kase is a natural in front of the camera. Great stuff, keep em coming. David from down under.
You can't kill the F150 !!!!
A Chevy guy liking Ford? Finally 🤜🏼🤛🏻.
I like Chevy and ford, I drive a F-150 however, mostly due to price and what was around me. Not a big fan of the other brands but I’m never just going to trash a specific brand or truck... except the Ridgeline lol
@@zachconant7031 I have a Chevy and a Ford Mustang. I just buy american
Dom MM same, I like to support America
@@zachconant7031 U got that right, freedom ain't free
One of the best build videos I’ve ever seen 😂. Great job guys!
This is actually so sick, just taking an old truck and doing things like this to test out an old but reliable truck. Imagine taking out the bed in your new 2021 Ford F-150 and doing this 😂
They should try it .
Great ,FUN video"! YOU GUYS SET CASE UP " LOL!!! ITS ALWAYS A PLEASURE WATCHING YOU GUYS BE GOOF BALLS AND IT GIVES US INSIGHT ON WHAT THOSE PARTICULAR VEHICLES WERE AND ARE CAPABLE OF!!
Man,..,I wish I could buy that truck,...luv that 300 !
( I don't live in the U.S. so that stops me )
I watch TFL channels, but never watched a classic video. Boy am I happy I found this video. I couldn’t stop smiling and laughing throughout the whole video. Definitely subbed and look forward to catching up on this channel.
13:49 Tommy, you don't even know how many times you'll say that in the future. 🤪🤣
Great episode! I'm on the floor!
I would drive it gents, it’s awesome
A few years ago I had a 2000 Silverado z71 and I would haul a side by side in the bed and tow another on a trailer with 2 dirt bikes so another 5000 or so in the trailer. I sold it with 385,000 miles.
Another great adventure! Farms have so much to offer!
Love that 300 engine!
The tractor brands should build an hybrid between a light truck and a tractor. Like a compact Unimog. It could be a next hit on sales after the UTVs arrive to the markets.
Such fun...... I love the little Subaru 1600........ Priceless.
Nice! I'd have used LedgerLok's for the bed to 4x4 attachment, but very cool!
That Subaru is too frickin cool.
You guys are awesome! Love love love this trio
This is an awesome video!! Do it yourself at its best!!! Great job!!
Good stuff, you guys are a riot!
An absoutloutly amazing video!
LOVE this episode!!! you 3 are awesome!!!
Who knew, F150 Woody wagon! Really fun video.
Good show 👏
LoL awsome vid
This was awesome!
The way those old Ford boxes used to rust out and flop around held together with Bungie cords, thinking wood flatbed would have been a hit. Thinking the bail ontop the Subaru would be even
Always a clear tube! Lol. Great video. That old truck. Lol what a beast.
this was awesome guys, it was funny it was interesting and very very nice.
The orange Chevy in the back is the best thing by far I’ve ever seen on this
They haveing fun with a Old Classic Truck then tthe NEW ONE!
UK fan here. Much better viewing than the embarrassing ‘political debate’ yesterday.
What a joke that was!
This is much better. 👍
This gives old roadkill vibes👍 keep it up
i remember by brothers subaru just like that back in the early 80's ... when he started it he said you have to crank it once for three seconds to wake it up... stop... then crank it again and it started everytime
Keep it like that
wow he made a really nice looking wood flatbed out of scraps and he did it in under 30 minutes I probally could too but it wouldn't be anywhere near that good looking!
An E4OD hold 18 quarts, 20 from rebuild. Gets expensive FAST!!!!
dang when did TFL started this channel its awesome bro always looking for truck builts
Pure entertainment! Good to see six shooter is still kicking! Wonder what the rattle cracking noise is on the subie?
I NEED a Yakadega Nights shirt
Now THAT'S a video! Just a couple more screws in that bed and you will be good to go! But I do still think you need to have some baling wire handy...
enjoy enjoy enjoy
This was fun
Needs a ZF-5 manual!
Cute kitty
@@oldcroneysgarage9739 Why thank you. I might be changing this profile photo to my F-250 soon though. I have had this one for three years.
The bed construction impressed me more than the truck.
16:29 my dream truck is in the background
Maybe unintentionally, this is very reminiscent of Top Gear builds and I love it
Anyone else think it would be cool that they do a series that they take all cars that they accumulate and record lap times, I’m diggin the Yakadega 500 🤣
E40d from empty is like 18 qt or something without the converter
One of my good friends who passed used to call those clear tubes "Montana credit cards"
Dave is super cool
That Subaru is cool
I really want to see something like a battlecar on this track lol lifted old BMW 3 series??
That EFI 300 six made 145 hp when new.
I own three straight six powered Fords. 1990, 1994, 1996 F150 xlt lariats and one has the granny gear four speed
Maybe add a junkyard zf-5 f250 junkyard 5speed? And a Detroit in the rear for some better farm work.
Case was the victim of a poorly tied down hay bail
Mark Ryl-Kuchar if it was tied down it would have stayed on
Can we all appreciate Kase's cute little double hood jump
I got that truck and engine. I put a single core radiator in it and it ran like junk and ran hot a good bit.
You could do this every day for another 30 years with that old ford and it still wouldn't die.
Can you 3 take over all the TFL productions? Way more e3ntertaining...
Yackadoodle 500 is a far superior name lol
Yakadega Knights 😆
yakadoodle 500. I like it
Yak Patties!
I wonder if you can fit a 350 SBC in that Subaru or maybe a 360 Magnum XD
This was funny🇨🇦👍
Pretty tough too kill that 4.9
It's called ignore the bump stops and roll out lol these ol ford will haul 10x what the "rating" is hahaha
The hood won’t close unless the cable in the cab is pushed back into its original position.
Thats very reliable truck for only having replace radiator for that truck if well taken care of that truck can last 300k without the engine or trans ever being removed
Is the gas siphon OSHA approved and CARB compliant?
Sure is!
81 hp in the Subie plus over 5k feet above sea level! Lol
I drove one up to 300 000 miles before I rebuilt it . 300 6 is tough
A 1400 pound round bale, has it got a gold core?
This seems to be going the way of Whistling Diesel.
ive loaded 2000 pounds in mine with stone she took it and it was a manual
Should have used a Milwaukee drill.
my self-reliance/Shawn James music
Maybe Case just needs to stay off the grass. LOL
Yakadega 😂
