I bought your ps1 template and I've been hard at work on my first game in the style. Your game is so inspiring everytime I see it and I can't wait to see more!

Hey man thank you, wow, I have watched a ton of your videos for inspiration I love how deep you dig to give information about some of my favorite games. I can't wait to see your game project let me know if you need anything.
That rat moment is precisely the fun spirit behind indie-retro games that is so inspiring!
Sick texturing skills man!
They really should take care of the rat problem over there. No way am I using that station!
Thanks mate! :) you think that's bad wait until the sewer level ;) muahaha classic sewer levels.
glad to see some more regular dev logs coming out for this again. keep up the great work!
Thank you :) I strive to be more consistent more to come soon.
This is just getting more and more amazing man. Can't wait to see more 😃
Thank you
you don't have any idea of how much i love your videos
Now I do
Simply amazing, your work is stunning.
Thank you very much :)
Nice work, great to see the progression 👍
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this video. I've been looking for hours to find out how to do character textures like yours !! It's stunning
Looks Amazing man! love how the models turned out. The strain station is starting to look kinda creepy 😨
Thank you! something eerie about walking through this station.
This is looking amazing! I really liked the part with all the rats, that was quite comical. Also, I remember when it was me and like one other person on your patreon. It's awesome to see how much that list has grown.
Thank you man! I'm thinking about birds next. I know right, I'm happy you are still here for every video and have supported me everyway
Love when these show up in my sub feed, appreciate it 👍
Hey! Thanks for sticking around! I got a notification that you uploaded, making my way over, see you there!
@@AaronMYoung we're both uploading! let's both try not to disappear for too long haha
@@InternetRob agreed! :D ahaha
Poppin' fresh, we love to see it
Thanks my guy :D
Great video! The rats was a neat feature
Cheers :)
Dude, hear me out... Attention to detail is critical making any game! Aaron knows what he's doing! Impress the world with this art, hell, I wish I can do it.
Thank you
This is brilliant! Perfectly minimalistic and old school!
Thanks I'm glad you like it! old school vibes is exactly what I'm aiming for!
Wow! Amazing work!
Great ambiance and music aswell.
Thank you! It's all about the ambiance for me I hope to offer something different in each scene :)
You have the ability to surprise me with every video!, keep it up!
Hey thank you :)
very slick, the game looks incredible!
Thank you
Looking great!
Noice. Just found this, it looks really cool and interesting. The graphics actually fit unlike a lot of games that go for this style for the sake of simplicity...
Hey thanks for stopping by! I'm happy you noticed, I agree with you on that. I think there is a misconception about "PS1 Style" that if its low res and low poly it = PS1 Graphics, but actually if you look at many of the games from that console they have there own unique style and vibe, and that's what I aim to achieve.
2:36 My fave part. Always love it when games have rats! :)
It's a must :), thank you for watching
This feels very inspired from Max Payne 1, Love it
I absolutely love it man.
The question is... will you release it to the public ? I'd love to see or make short films with this kind of memorable feel.
Thank you! I plan to release it on steam once it's finished :)
can't believe he added a birmingham gamemode 3:18
Love all the progress so far. I personally think though, that you might want to add more sound bytes to that randomised light sound. Hearing that same sound byte will start to irritate players fairly quickly, either that or I'm more sensitive to sound than I thought.
I was irritated by this sound just by watching this video. I also think it's too loud
Hey thank you, and you are right, I will make the necessary changes, adjust volume and modulate that sound! thank you for your input I appreciate that.
@@AaronMYoung I have no doubt your game will be awesome 🍰
Thank you mate :)
Step by step work is going. )
A little closer each day :)
Oh you switched to Blender now! How are you finding it??
Hey man! still watching your content it's nice to know you are still watching mine! I found it difficult at first but now I'm getting used to it I see what the big deal was about it
@@AaronMYoung of course! Great video as always mate
Haha the tube to uxbridge. I lived in uxbridge for a couple months in the winter of 2003/4 winter on a gap year. i dont remember being this brown and orange and seedy haha.
Hey Aaron this looks incredible, what resolution did you use for the texture of the woman?
Love your work and I’m sorry if this was already asked, but what program were you using for pulling your textures from photo reference? The one with the arrows.
Its so nice that the enviroments feel lived in and not some sterile utopia junk, rock on 👍
Thank you I'm happy people are noticing
this looks amazing, im learning a lot from you channel as well i love this art syle too. can i ask you whats the name of the rigging addon? thanks!!
Hey thank you! I use Auto-Rig Pro
❤
That's sick, 4:50, how'd you add the dirt and highlight mask/overlay to the image? Great work.
I was switching blend modes of the layer, mostly overlay and multiply :)
@@AaronMYoung Cheers for the reply man.
I like what i'm seeing here now when will it be available on steam?
Hey there! Dumb question here. What is it you’re doing when you put the chrome boxes over the train textures at 4:52 ? I’ve seen it in a few of your videos.
That gradient texture you added to the whole subway cart, how did you make that?
thought she was going to jump in front of the train for a second...
I did consider it :'D
Any chance we can have a tutorial in normal timelapse doing a character from scratch like the girl here with your techniques applied? I really like how you model
I will aim to do more tutorials soon :)
nice, but i feel those door are waay to high, and the train it self a too wide. its not that realistic that a metro just fits in the tunnel. :P
I haven't watched the entire series yet, so forgive me if I say something dumb. One thing that bothers me is the sounds, they are a bit harsh for the style used. Compressing, softening, and maybe an optional bit crushing of the sounds used could be nice. The light flickering sound doesn't match the environment, if that makes sense.
I agree sound design needs improving, I hope to learn more as the project goes on
@@AaronMYoung Absolutely! I did forget to say that so far from what I've seen, your progress is awesome! It actually sucks that there's no good software for PSX game dev, I'd love to play your game on an actual PS1 or PS2.
Hey Aaron, would you mind sharing the specs of your computer setup? I'd like to have a rough idea of what all goes into this process. Appreciate you, man. Keep the videos coming!
Hey, my PC spec are AMD Ryzen 7 3700X CPU, 32 GB of RAM, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER. It's over kill for this sort of thing to be honest. Thank you so much and thank you for watching.
@@AaronMYoung I've been following your progress for awhile man. The dedication and care that you have put into this game is phenomenal. I cannot wait until I can play the finished product. :) Have a good one, man!
hello bro i like your vids but what is the photo editor that you used to create the texture for the train i would really appreciate your answer and it would help me aswell
Hey man! so for the texturing of the train I use
Shoebox to straighten out images -renderhjs.net/shoebox/
Adobe fireworks for editing the texture, Adobe no longer support fireworks and It's hard to obtain unfortunately. I own a copy from a long time ago.
4:50 what are those shadow textures called
How did you unwrap the UV in such perfect rectangle and square shapes?
I straighten out the Uv's in blender, It can be very useful but can cause stretching in some areas :)
That blond girl really pretty!
What program are you using for texturing?
Adobe fireworks :)
@@AaronMYoung thanks :)
whats the program for that called? 1:26
Adobe fireworks :)
are those base models available in th your starter kit?
They aren't currently however I'm working on a update to the starter kit, do you think it will be worth adding them ?
@@AaronMYoung Yes, i'm working a fallout new vegas style demake and those could come in handy
@@AaronMYoung Man, if You'd release a base mesh pack including only the male and female. I'd for sure by it no matter the cost. Your style is great.
What software do you use to texture ?
Adobe firework :)
@@AaronMYoung when you shade, you just create a gradient cube and mess around with the visiblity until it looks good ? ;o
@@loxyrakkary3502 Not quite, I do that and then I paint a lot of details in and shading too. That part is mainly to get some base shading down.
@@AaronMYoung Well it looks great, keep going ! It reminds me of silent hill in how the textures look :)
@@AaronMYoung is there a tool within adobe firewires that allows you to create these varied gradient boxes you use for shading?
blender has successfully replace maya... now within 5 years their will be godot , which will replace unity.
Swapping to blender was the best decision I ever did :)
Mmmm... Soft white, fruit of the loom undies. ♥♥♥
Now I know I'm a' enjoy this game.
:'D funky fresh!
