- We’re really pleased to welcome one of the world’s leading trials riders, Chris Akrigg, to the Whyte family for 2023 and beyond.
Chris is a former 6x British Bike Trials champion and one of the most technical bike riders on the planet who’s well-known for his jaw-dropping riding videos, such as Five, As It Lies, A Hill In Spain and many more. He has the ability to jump on pretty much any bike - be they hardtails, road and gravel bikes, BMXs, rigid trials bikes, trail full-suspension, fixies, DH rigs and many more - and make them to sing to his unique tune.
There’s very little that Chris can’t make his bike do. With a background in motorcycle and bike trials, he’s forged a career of riding the seemingly impossible. And making it all look smoothly effortless, too. And that’s true whatever bike he’s on: from trail bikes, to fixies, to gravel bikes to hardtails, and beyond, he can turn them all up to 11. Since 2009 his ever-growing catalogue of riding films that cross a wide array of bikes and terrain has clocked up millions of views. Take our innovative tilted motor and low centre of gravity concept on our award-winning E-160 RSX e-MTB, just one of the bikes that Chris is riding. By rotating the motor we’ve slid the battery down further towards the bottom bracket to lower the bike’s centre of gravity as much as possible. Coupled with our geometry, this makes the bike more agile, capable and confidence inspiring.
“E-bikes are one of the most exciting things,” Chris explains of his passion for embracing electric. ”Once I jumped on one for the first time, I was like ‘Wow! Im not sure Chris will read this but I used to ride comp trials and was at the national events that you won Chris, im 42 this year and still riding street trials. For me you are the most inovative and talented person to touch a bike, I still watch a day at the sea side and trial noir to get pumped. Please treat us to a street edit, maybe a colab with the new generation of street trials riders.
Get out from your city environment and enjoy the nature. You will find your true inside out there...

I love my whyte e 160 bike but getting any info from them is a nightmare, they just ignore you whether you ask through videos like this or send them a direct email, after sales service is non existent and you are forced to go through the bike shop dealing with some uninterested teenager and on that basis I won’t be buying another one. I need to know custom tuning specifications for upgrades regarding the rear shock that can only be supplied by the manufacturer but if they are silent it becomes a real chore.

Why using a E-bike?
Refreshing to see, skill, age, and reasonable video work in place of shitty "Energy" drinks, "daddies money mullets" and no hiding behind silly clown sunglasses.
