Survivorman | Romania Part 2 | Les Stroud

- In part two, Les simulates being medically stranded and lost in the forested Transylvanian Alps to test the skills of Romania’s top Search and Rescue Team. Les feels totally trapped, immobilized by a simulated splintered leg and stranded in the dense mountainous terrain of Romania’s Transylvanian Alps. Romania’s renowned Search and Rescue Team are working around the clock to find him, but the thick forest cover has them looking for a needle in a haystack. Medically stranded with no food, water, fire or shelter, Romania proves to be a real survival challenge, even for someone as experienced as Les.
Directed by: Les Stroud
Starring: Les Stroud - Zábava
Just heard on the local news that Les and his team were part of a mission to find a fisherman that was lost in the woods this month for 17 nights. The mission was a success! Thank you Les and the JCSAR team for finding Harry.
17 nights? I don't think i could survive even a day or two. These ppl are real heroes
@@cleverusername9369 Hey thanks for recommending 😃 i've already watched that movie and to be honest, it was terrifying and an unpredictable situation just by imagining being alone in the jungle. It was a fantastic movie by the way.
@@polkadots2823 I read hatchet when I was a kid I feel it lol
Guy must have left a handkerchief on an exposed root before wandering into the woods away from the road. This must have been Les' first video. He said out loud "ive been gone for 24, 36, 48 hours". Survivorman doesn't know the difference between one and two days lolololol WHAT!?!?!?!?!?

les really went "this is getting difficult imma pretend my legs broken"
Yeah.....
"y'all im so tired pls carry me"
My laughing ass having the same thought at the same time.
Imma just "simulate" the mistake of eating all my food now.
It kind of made me realize that he must have got the message out. He was really concerned last part but this one he's simulating something that would put him in crazy survival peril.
"broken Leg Blues" the next banger since "Foot Fungus Blues"
OMG I WAS SINGING THAT THIS ENTIRE EPISODE
Man that’s old school right there haha I’ve been watching this how since I was a young boy
I got the feeeet fungus blues!
Imagine coming across a lost hiker with a broken leg playing harmonica in the woods hahaha
with a bunch of cameras and declines help
He would still be smiling.
Sounds like a side mission irl
i would break my legg and join
Am I in RDR2 🤔😂
Les, my husband Mike and I would watch your show together here in Michigan. Mike passed away suddenly at home May 18th. He was 56. He was a great fan. I find myself watching now and it brings comfort. He thought you were so cool. I have no doubt if he had found himself in a situation, as he was an outdoorsman, that he would have used skills he learned from you. He died after back surgery, in recovery. Our youngest son and I will keep watching.
Sorry for your loss tammy 😔
I'm very sorry for you loss Tammy - I hope you and your Son find some small comfort in the shows - thank you for letting me know about your husband - he left us far too soon.
Such a cool dude. ^^^
Here we go. Les out here flashing people in the wilderness again 😂

As a citizen of Romania, I don't know how to thank you for making this video in my native country! No survivor has ever done this! You're the best ever!
Actually you should check it out more. Bear Grylls did Romania, so did Dual Survivor. I'm a resident in your country and like to check them out.

I just have to say here how much respect I have for those that go out and risk their own wellbeing to find and help someone in need of rescue. No sane person goes out with the intention of needing help like this. It sure is nice to know that someone will try.
@@gone1583 I am thankful for their drive
Awesome people, search & rescue! Blessings
This is unique about humanity - compassion.
And they are paid little to nothing
@@paweszymonjasinski7158 Science has actually proven that empathy and compassion aren't traits unique to humans. Many animals have shown signs of altruism - sacrificing their own well being for another's. This happens both within and between different species. Animals occasionally adopt babies of another species when they're found helpless. I recommend the book 'The Secret Life of Animals' by Peter Wohlleben. It's a good read.
I wonder what the reaction of the search and rescue was when they realized that Les's leg wasn't actually broken lmao
Pretty sure its all pre-planed in that regard seeing how they filmed their operation start to finish. This is meant more as a showcase of the inner workings of a search and rescue team to help viewers get some perspective and manage their expectations in case they'll ever be in the position to need their help.
They left him there and told him to walk home 😅
@@AlexanderHL1919 yeah, SAR does training like this multiple times a year. My wife got to participate a few years ago and went for a ride in their helicopter, strapped to a back board.
@Gladio Light lmao
I'm pretty sure they knew that this was for a TV show or else why would all these cameras be on them all the time. Now with that said they probably didn't know that the broken leg wasn't really broken but they probably know Les wasn't really a "Lost" hiker. Organizations like this relish the chance to drill in this manner and take every opportunity to do so. Les and his producers probably went to them before hand and asked if they would be willing to participate. Great propaganda for them.
27:46 The every-reliable taut-line hitch, albeit with an extra (3rd) loop. A knot everybody should know. Brilliant idea to take the time to demonstrate this.
Much respect for the Romania rescue team, thank you for saving Les! From Canada.
69th like, so you know that's right!
That ending brought tears to my eyes.
Also, it would be a great ad for their recruitment campaign.
I am glad I am not alone. It is incredible how much emotion them finding Les brought out of me, even though I know that he could have probably "rescued" himself. But the fact that he let them treat him and carry him out on the cart was emotional too. They were able to complete their mission before being told it was an exercise. A very successful one too. I hope they feel proud of their accomplishment.
?
Tears?lol ok

Chills of excitement max well
A member of our alpine club went missing this summer in the French alps, he still hasn't been found and now winter has set in search has stopped. That shows despite in a modern country with a lot of often well maintained hiking trails, mountain huts and tourists, how hard those rescue teams job is... so the utmost respect for them from belgium.
Dam that Is crazy like he said if they don't find them right away chances are they died on impact. I'm pretty sure there are no deadly animal but the cold and steep hilks is more than enough to Kill someone. Have you ever found a dead missing person??

Romanian here.I just started watching you and i loved it. People say that you have to follow a river if you find one and you will find a settlement.
As medically challenged Vet who wanders the local desert this episode hits home.
Thank you for your service sir!!
Stop it. Fellow vets who feel a need to mention their service and/or a disability is so cringy and pathetic. You're literally passively begging for attention, just stop.
I beg for nothing. I search for gold and relics. I do this because I hate people and like being alone. I adapted to my weakness and made my way. Your cringe is wasted here.
@@IdahoPartisan Your past statement literally contradicted your current one, with feeling a need to mention your service and disability, gtfo. What if you were escaping and trying not to be found? Some of this information could be utilized in reverse. New Series titles: Lost and Not Found.
That requires a much higher level of self-reliance and skill.. .. Being alone and purposely out of reach also requires being acutely aware of what its like to be isolated/alone and being able to deal with it mentally ....
"Not lost and not found."
or could be called "Adult hide and seek" or "Hunted"
*Helicopter pilot* : Hey its crazy we found you man! Who are you??
*Les Strouds* : I am Les Strouds, Survivorman. I go to the most remote places on earth to survive on my own for 10 days
*Helicoper pilot* : It's remote and dangerous alright but... it's only been 5 days?
*Les Strouds turn to camera* The Salvomont are know to the worlds most experienced search and rescue operators ready for the toughest conditions. But are they ready mentally?
*Catasrophic failure alarm goes off and sounds of bolts popping as everybody panics onboard*
*Les Strouds* : *smirks at Camera*
Survivorman: life sentence
*You enter the jail and one of the first in line gets jumped and stabed with a shank, the murderer checks the pockets of the victim to remove tobacco, The killer removes the blade from within his teeth and he lurks back up looking at a camera* "Hi I'm Les Strouds. Cigarettes are a great delicacy here in the federal prison system, you have to be alert and ready for every opportunity when it presents itself"
That would take some guts to put out a chopper for a television video show.
I was in the county search and rescue for 25 years. Theses guys that found you are the real thing. Such professionals.

That look got me @32:32 😄😄
DAMN! Biggest of respect to those Romanians.
Salvamont must be quite the professionals to find him fast and efficiently.
They are, it takes 2 years of training to become a full Salvamont member, you start up as a volunteer, then work your way up. it does not pay much but they do so much for us!
And as far as i know all the people that didn't die immediately in an accident all the ones lost or injured on our mountains were rescued.
That rescue squad is the real deal
Thank god there are people like this rescue crew in the world. Imagine if humanity was so apathetic that we didn’t have people like that. It’s not a world I want to live in.
Survivorman brings me comfort. reminds me of my childhood watching on a cold spring day when all the windows are open
I was completely sucked in to this one. Those are some badass people right there. 🤘🏼 great episode! 👍🏼
When Les is eating the spruce buds and then he says, "I'm getting full..." then he looks at the camera like, "yeah...right." lol hilarious
best episode of any survival series ever
Makes me hope there is a donation site or organization for such rescue teams. There work is so under appreciated and not even acknowledged enough!!!
Actually, there is no need for donations that much, they are financed by the Romanian Gov and by big companies, the best part of this is that they are well trained if I`m not mistaking it takes 2 years of training to get the Salvamont member title, you start as a volunteer and work your way up to becoming a full member.
And in Romania, their efforts are well mediatized with their interventions making the news.
I would do it for free... Just look how beautiful it is to walk all over the forest
Looking for Les, “random harmonica music” ahh there he is
A person who risks their life to help save another's life, is a real hero.
This was really something Survivorman, i didn't ever think that Romania's Fagaras mountains will be that perilous. I live in Romania and didn't ever think that this would be one of your most close call encounters with survival out in the wilds, i have seen most of your outings in the wilds all around the globe, ever since i was a kid and watching the Discovery Channel, but this one seemed like a close call. It seems that you need some good tech when prepping to go out and also some neat survival techniques to give those rescuers some bits of hints to track you down. May God bless our Salvamont teams as they are relentless in searching for lost souls out here. Thank you for your teachings and thank the SAR teams for their God's work in saving lost souls. Much respect!
Watched you my whole childhood and continue till this day as an adult. Thanks for all the things I've learned from survival or not!
These last two episodes were amazing to watch. The crazy part is I just Broke my leg on Saturday last week putting up a tent, preparing for a week long trip next month. Im sad I will not be able to go but at least I get to watch Les and learning from him. Will definitely be go in late August after my leg has some time to heal up.
The Romania survival is one of my favorites.
I play Stranded Deep and imagine I'm Les Stroud, chilling on the beach with a campfire and my harmonica
Thanks for your kind words for our Salvamont team.
Too bad, they don't use drones.
The search and rescue team seems like the absolute peak of humanity
Just good people all around.
No rest until the lost souls are found
Gotta respect that.
And please note that the Salvamont jobs here in Romania do not pay that much... At most, they make the average salary from here... and actually, they also have a lot of volunteers. But they do have all the equipment they need.

Thank god for search and rescue teams, i recently had to call on their help when i was on a remote trail fly fishing and came down wrong over a fell log and snapped my ankle and pulled the ligaments off the bone. Luckily i was prepared for something like that and splinted my ankle and had a few snacks with me along with a fire starter. Thankfully i was only there for about 12 hours like that and they found me late that night by spotting my fire on the side of the river bed. Still recovering now in a boot, but as i said thank you to anybody that goes out there and find people in need!
