These cars are so cheaply made but seem to run good.
Yea they last a long time!
Thanks for posting the video. I really enjoyed your sound affect when you just about Busted your Knuckles at 2:40 of the video
LMAOOO
I heard that too.made me cringe because you saw it coming
Lol
I had 2 have rear struts put on my 98 corolla for inspection...cost me 600. Said front ones should be replaced too, I ordered them off rock auto for $100 and will do them myself thanks to your video. I have ane at wrench so hopefully that will make it a little easier
Awesome! Replaced mine today. Went so smoothly!
Were can I find specific torque specs and directions for my vehicle? 02 toyota echo and how did you learn how to do it? I really want to do it myself because I can't afford a 700 dollar bill right now....
bout to do this on 2001 corolla , thanks for the video!
Thank somuch
Thank you for the video getting ready to do them on same car
Great job!!!
Awesome video my dude!
Thanks for the vid. When you said cold front and all the hard work I was thinking a cold beer front, but yes cool fronts are good. Especially here in Las Cruces NM.
Awesome video very educational 🚗👍
Thank you 🤗
Thank you
Good job!
+Howard Rice Thanks.

Especially on older models if you let the spindle / rotor assembly fall / tilt outward away from the car after the strut is removed, it can pull the drive axle out of the transmission coupling. This can be a real hassle to re install for the beginner.
ISO/TS 16949 was the quality system standard for automotive manufacturers. It doesn't mean anything to you, but that number should now read IATF 16949 which is the new standard.
Your not suppose to remove the califer just turn the steering wheel to the left and you can get good angle for your tools
Welcome to the f***ing internet.
I don't think he had a deepwell socket
Great Job! Did you have to take care to alignment stand after? What was the socket size you used on the two lower nuts/bolts? I just bought a similar corolla and looking at the set on amazon... hopefully I have all the tools... Thanks for sharing!
19mm for the big ones at the bottom.
The ride height note claiming, "...Until the coil settles in..." is complete BS. It is the manufacturer saying in other words, "We just wung this sh*t. It is nowhere near the specs of your original OEM strut."
It can sometimes ride rough or too soft if it is not designed the same. It is the price one pays, by saving money. For me that is ok and accepted sometimes.
KYB is your best bet for OEM specs or better in some cases. And you will still pay %50-%75 less than what an OEM Toyota part will cost.
I'm thinking of replacing mine the front passenger sode makes aclunking noise when i hit a bump. And my boots are deffinitly ruined
What size are the bottom bolts....Thank you
Wow simpler than I thought 😂🤣 here I am thinking I was gonna need spring decompressers and some special grease and stuff
Well you would need a spring compressor if you bought just the strut. The struts he used in the video are “quick struts”, so they included the spring installed too. Usually cheaper quality but they work fine for normal driving
Always buy the complete assembly..its not worth the aggravation of compressing a spring for the small price difference
Did this fix the violent wheel shake while braking?
Yes. Fantastic after replacing the struts
Average Guys Garage thanks. Going to change all four on my 2005 audi quattro 3.2
torque spec is 200 lbft
did you do wheel alingment done afterwards do you tell your customers to do that
Harry burford yes you should get an alignment after replacing FRONT struts
Hi can you tell me what brand are those struts tanks
No name after market from ebay
I am about to replace mine on my 2001 Corolla. I have a 1999 Corolla as a parts car. Would you guys recommend buying new struts or Can I just use the struts off of the 99 if they are in decent shape?
If they are in decent shape you could use them. The job does not take that long.
That poor dust shield
do i need alignment after doing this?
Yes I recommend
I just bought kyb,s . Kyb is best. Made in japan. Those chinese cheap brands break easy.
Yea but if you buy a $500 car, that cheap stuff works just fine to get you going again for awhile.
does it ride smooth now with the new struts
Absolutely
How much u pay for the front and the back...they came with the sprints that's cool..
I paid $192 from an eBay seller. All brand new with springs
Average Guys Garage can you post the link?

up to date how are they holding up?
They held up great. I sold the car a year after I put them on. The smoother ride was immediate
Someone please comment, does this really take 3-4 hours? My mechanic is quoting me that time. I want to try and do it myself but I have no idea what the heck I'm doing. Any guides for a 02 Toyota echo front struts?
fan1008 i know you commented this 7 months ago but on the off chance you didn’t get it fixed yet it shouldn’t take over an hour for either the both of front or rear struts
@fan1008 hey bro it usually take about 45 to an hour for each side... I take about a medium pace doin this n it takes me about less than 2 hours. Its actually easy to repair.that mechanic is taxing u an extra 2 hours 🤣.. Trust me on this. Can't trust mechanics these days. Best 2 learn on ur own n save a lot of money. That's the way I did it. Good luck
fan1008 hey there. I was also quoted 3.5 hours, so I think that’s what all repair guides recommend for pricing. Don’t think he’s trying to fleece you, but yeah this is such an easy job at home, just pay the guy for an alignment after
@@tonistarks2874 thx lol. I actually did it myself and I don't think it's easy if you have no mechanical experience and I have no idea of what I was doing. It took me 20 hours total. I had a hard time getting my nut off and I kept making mistakes. Took 2 hours to loosen it loI. I did one side 3 times and the other 2 times.
whats the brand?
I don't know the brand. They were generic - probably from China. Bought from a respected seller on eBay - more than 50,000 feedback.
don't think tat will be a 9/16 more likely a 13mm because Toyota realize the importance of doing things properly.
9/16 is 14mm
