With the sage there are a few more nice features. Note book and annotations with the surface pen I already have, pocket integration. And combining Dropbox with a chrome extension called "Save as Ebook" lets me quickly author and sideload internal Standards, Tech Guides, and documentation for my work.
Very nice review, it's time to change my Kindle 2015 edition, and after 2 Kindles to migrate to Kobo Libra 2! 👍🏻
I got a kobo libra 2 for my birthday last week, and I connected it to my local library and read like that. Great purchase!
I bought a kindle paperwhite a few weeks ago and I love it. Since I'm outside the US, is the easiest way to get an e-reader and support if anything happens to it. I have a lot o epub books on my laptop, but I just use Calibre to change the format. No issues at all with that.
So which format is better when converting with Calibre, AWZ3 or mobi

I live in Ghana and looking forward to buy my first e-reader but don't know which to buy. I have a lot of Epubs on my laptop to and want you to recommend for me. Kobo Libra 2 or Kindle Paperwhite signature edition.
@@dominicamoakobaah9516 I don't have any experience with Kobo's e-readers. I chose Kindle for the support that Amazon provides in my country (Chile). As for the formats, it shouldn't be an issue, just change them with Calibre. I would recommend you to pick the e-reader that could give you the best customer service in your country.
This kind of needs to be updated as kobo now has Bluetooth and a subscription service and is better to use with libraries.

Yeah Kindle is now accepting epub format…thank goodness! About time! I don’t know if I can buy off other sources though, have you tried buying from say Apple or Google books and send to your Kindle.
@@Nikkilodean19 not really I mostly buy my books on Amazon or i put books my friends send me. Like you have a kindle address link to your account so you send your file to this address and it convert the book to fit your kindle like something like that .

How do you put library ebooks on your kobo? In Australia I didn’t think that was possible. As our libraries have their ‘app’ to read from.
Can we sideload books from pc to kobo libra 2 (formats in epub or mobi or txt)??

Thank you for the video. I’d never heard of Kobo until I checked whether a particular Australian retailer carried Kindle. Given that my library has Ebooks and this is probably a good way to avoid late fees due to my laziness returning physical books, I’m no longer going for Kindle.

@@bhoqeem1975 kobo is a canadian company and only one seller in australia stocks kobo be it not to well and hiden in a corner with staf that know nothing about ereaders. i had never heard of barns and nobles till i looked up alternativs as we dont have any other option in australia and this sucks.

Kindle Oasis is the ultimate imho. It does take epubs too and using software you can prepare absolutely any book or even write your own to go on the kindle. I've never tried a Kobo, but apart from not being able to show what page you're on, there's nothing the Oasis can't do and I love it.
It does not support EPUB, you ignoramus. You still have to convert it. You absolutely cannot just plug it in, drag and drop an EPUB, and get cracking.
A quick question.
I have like around thousand ebooks in Epub version. If I buy a kindle device , will I be able to use them in that device. If it needs to be changed into another format or something, will it be practical with the whole lot.. ?
You do need to change the format, but that is quite easy to do. There are a lot of apps and websites that convert to the kindle format.
You can now send EPUB to Kindle and it accepts it!
What about the common 'freezing screen problem' with Kindle? Does Kobo also have this unending hassle? I am tired of my kindle(4th) since it was made available to me. Am looking for something different bit efficient...
I never heared of that. That sounds annoying! I have Kindles since many years and never experienced that issue.
@@Desert371 If you surf Kindle CZcams videos, more than half are deliberating about the 'frozen' and 'unresponsive' kindle problems! Not to speak of the negative reviews which follow them! Strange, you have never heard of them! You are lucky!
Kobo Libra 2 --> best e-reader overall (at the moment - dec 2021)
Still is. I just bought a Libra 2 a week ago, its a big upgrade for me coming from the Clara HD.

Now with the Kindle Paperwhite 5th Gen out, you have the same features as the Kobo. And with the ability to sideload books by sending them to your Kindle email, I think the Kindle Paperwhite wins.
No library books outside the US. I hope they bring this feature in the future! Nontheless: I love my Oasis!
Kobo does offer a subscription and some books Amazon offers aren’t available on kobo.
I see what you mean by that second bit! There are some publishers who only upload to Amazon platforms and thus I can't get their stuff on Kobo, but from my perspective, I've only really seen it with Oni Press and Image Comics, both of which would primarily upload to Comixology but then it becomes available on Kindle by extension. Not to mention, a number of self-published authors who would only really know about Kindle and not about other platforms like Smashwords, Gumroad, and many others.

Why don’t these reviews ever mention that you can actually read library books on your Kindle as well, I read about a book a month on my Kindle and I haven’t purchased one from Amazon in over two years…
@sakura san I think I figured it out. A lot if the reviewers are Canadian and apparently Kindle is it compatible with Libby and Overdrive outside of the United States.
In Canada, a Kindle cannot access Canadian library books. Kobo can. This is also true in many other countries.

I feel like I am the only person who finds the kindle less than user-friendly to get around in. Trying to organize my books in it, I get lost pretty easily and it is not obvious how to find my way around or what the next obvious thing to do is. Seems like what I find obvious and the next thing is not what kindle has decided it is. I am often frustrated and lost in its ways of working. But I don’t see anyone else complaining of this wherever I look. Can I be the only one searching for a Kobo hoping it may prove easier? Yes, I have the kindle manual printed up to refer to. I just wish the kindle was simpler to use so I don’t have to take so much time figuring every little thing out each time I need to organize. And then there are periodic upgrades to further confuse!! Much as I love reading books on e-readers, I feel more frustrated than happy when on them, at least on the kindle.
I agree the Kindle's interface just keeps getting worse. Trying to make it "pretty" by putting book covers everywhere and in the process making it unusable since the cover titles are often impossible to read and you can only ever see a fairly small number at one go. Not sure if Kobo is better, but I'm pretty sure with their track record that the Kindle GUI will continue to get worse.

Just like buying a quality vehicle burning gasoline, the more expensive ebooks are, the more expensive they could be expensive based on their performance and capabilities. I have an 11th generation . Kindle Paperwhite and the background quality is good. All the problems is that most quality books must be read using Kindle Unlimited, and free audio books will be charged if a book is free. All I have to say is that desires for usage (especially education or even just reading all day) aren’t much of a good thing.
I’m searching for an e reader that supports Bluetooth and that’s it. If you check out kindle paperwhite reviews a lot of people are upset that Bluetooth doesn’t work on Australian kindle paperwhite which is so weird??? I’m not sure what to do. I like the size of the kindle screen. Should I buy a kindle from overseas or should I buy a kobo that supports audiobooks. I have never bought an e reader

This is a bit superficial. I just switched from Kindle to Kobo, mainly just to limit my support of Amazon services. EPUB files can definitely be read on a kindle as well. Moreover sending files to your Kindle is so much easier - you can just email the files even with the most basic paperwhite! While with Kobo you need to connect the e-reader to a PC to transfer files

Look im new to e-readers and not a real big fan I never got one and always used books until my dad told me about online books. So I'm looking for a good brand (Waterproof, Warmlight, And Color) Does anyone know where i can find an e-reader like that?
Tip. Don't buy kobo if you want to wirelessly transfer epub books to it. They don't allow wireless transfer, unlike Kindle. I'm annoyed I bought one.
Amazon switched to epub!! Mobi has been discontinued and epub is supported without conversion!

Hi, I've used Kindle for years but have been increasingly fed up with far too many bugs.
Mostly, I need to be able to type notes and then export these so I can edit on a PC, so I can subsequently pass notes onto students. Kindle used to be quite good at this. Can u take notes using Kobo? Can u then email notes to yourself? Is there Kobo software you can use on a PC? (typing is considerable faster on Kindle for PC rather than a Kindle Paperwhite)

You ignored that libby is very easy to use with Kindle to check out library books. I wouldn't really consider this a kobo advantage at all

you always have the option of sending epub files to your kindle device (via USB or via your registered kindle email address). So, it's not even a point of comparison

Kindle paper white has such a harsh blue light that kills my eyes and it has a lighting flicker that your eyes can't see but your brain processes. Gave me migraines. Switched to kobo since their lighting system has a faded red light not that harsh blue LED. I stopped spending money with Amazon too. I have had a kobo and Kindle and both have uneven lighting. But the color of the light matters more to me. Kobo might also have a flicker, but it could be a quality control issue. My kindle flickered and my kobo doesn't. So for those coming for me in the comments... stop being Karens and do what's best for you. This is MY experience.

It's actually the other way round, kobos have flickering screens and uneven lighting.

Just the fact that it is American, my choice goes to Kobo Clara 2E, more friendly to the environment
is a kindle cheaper in the long run. if you borrow books from your libary kobo is the winner on savings as you wont be paying for books but if you love spending money on books you could go a kindel and be locked into one site and no other options for books.

Sadly,if you live in Canada and buy a kindle,you do NOT get access to your Audible library on the Canadian neutered models.
The Oasis boasts Bluetooth capability,but Canadian models have this option turned off,rendering any ability to listen to audiobooks useless.
Waste of money in my opinion.
Also,access to library books doesn’t exist,since the Canadian library database is not available on Kindle.

I knew it. The kindle is the Apple of Ebooks, and Kobo is the android of ebooks. People get kindle apple for brand image and support, but smarter people know androids are better
