    Did you switch to the 16-tooth gearbox sprocket yet? I preferred it even at 650cc but at 865 it’s a necessity. I also did the YSS upgrade kit but removed the damping rods and enlarged the holes from 2mm to 8mm. (There’s some debate about whether or not you need to drill the damper rods but I think it’s essential for proper oil flow.) Right now I’m running a set of shrouded Hagons in the back. They add a note of authenticity but they’re only slightly superior to stock. I’ll replace them eventually with something from Ohlins.

      Thanks for the info on the suspension! I haven't decided which way to go yet, ohlins or yss, all the others I know are too expensive, we'll see.
      I'm still using the stock sprocket and I find it ok for now but I don't do long distances lately, mostly city riding and short trips and I'm enjoying the acceleration.

      Well, I just switched to a 16-tooth sprocket and I just have to admit how stupid it was of me riding the 865 for so long with the 15-tooth stock sprocket. It IS a necessity!
      I'm preparing a video about chain and sprocket change.

    In other words to install the kit you should really have the crank, pistons and rods balanced to minimize or eliminate vibration.

    I watched a video where they compare a 865 & a 650 with high comp pistons & cam.The 650 upgrade reved out hard & retained the smoothness of gearbox but had to learn to ride properly with the high rev up high & slow down low so have to rev it out in each gear which equals fun.
    The Big bore 865 has alot more grunt but 1st was harder to find & lost smoothness of the R.E 650 gearbox but the power was there everywhere & this was in Australia & the 865 was built by Reverlry but sure it still had stock throttle bodies.
    The 650 high Comp pistons & cam bike made a more practical bike but is less powerful especially low down but revs out & is alot cheaper to build.Also Reverlry Cycles has a Powertronic which they have programmed along with Powertronic & copyrighted which extends the rev limiter which increases the fun with either the 865 or 650 High Comp pistons & Cam especially the 650 High Comp pistons & cam.The 650 has a clutch upgrade too but because there's less tourqe the gearbox is still smooth.
    Rekluse do a clutch up & they also do a more advanced clutch upgrade which has manual & auto function & press button to swap between them which the auto mode would smooth out gear changes & good if in a hurry.
    If you live Australia Reverlry do throttle bodies upgrade & big valve head which work on both the 650 & 865 but pricey.Add
    the throttle bodies on the 650 at a later date when afford it.
    Sure would be great to live in Ausie or have there products in your own country.The standard 865 build after run in is 59-60hp but with Reverlry parts like head,throttle bodies,
    Powertronic if want to extend rev limiter 65-70hp is possible at a price though.

      Thanks for the info. I'm aware of the Revelry cycles but the throttle bodies and big valve head raise the game too much and I'm very far from Australia! For now I'm happy with the bike as it is, but we'll see in the future!

    Did the same mods to my Continental GT: S&S 865 kit, cam, clutch, freer air filter, power commander, 2>1 pipes, etc. But I only got 55 hp on the dyno. Maybe needs more tuning. Upgraded front fork springs only. Replacing the pipes gave a big weight reduction and more performance--but at the cost of noise. Neutral is still hard to find. An extra tooth on the front sprocket is pulled easily. Only nitpick now is that cheap rear brake foot lever--an aftermarket unit is available for the Interceptor but, alas, not for the GT.

    • @ksmotoshed7961
      @ksmotoshed7961  Před 8 měsíci

      Hi, I understand that it runs fine after the mods, right? About the dyno results I think the best way to get a good idea of what really happened is to compare before and after results from the same dyno, did you do that? Then its the tuning and also, very important, cam timing. Did you do the conversion yourself?

    • @williamhannas9342
      @williamhannas9342 Před 8 měsíci

      @@ksmotoshed7961 Thanks for responding. It runs great. No dead spots or surprises in the fuel mapping. Before and after runs on the same dyno were 42 > 55. I outsourced the bore job to Revelry in AU; a local (US) builder did the rest. I need to return to the shop soon for valve adjustment; my Enfield dealer refused the job when I told him about the S&S cam. Are the clearances the same as stock, do you know? Will ask them about cam timing. Overall, the engine puts out more power than the bike can manage. So I'm inclined to leave things alone and just enjoy it.

      @@williamhannas9342 you are welcome. That's great! 42 to 55 hp is a big improvement for this engine, what about torque? The clearances for the S&S cam are the same as stock according to the S&S manual. I agree, the most important thing after all is to enjoy it!!

    • @ksmotoshed7961
      @ksmotoshed7961  Před rokem

      I thought about it and I asked a few others who did the 865 and they used the S&S pistons as they came with no problems so I decided to put them on without removing any material. The vibration I got with this mod doesn't feel like it's gonna cause any problems but we'll see in the long run.
      As for the brake pads I'm about to try some new brembo sintered. Thanks for your comment!
