    On the mounting option..., You can mount it inside a vehicle, especially for a campervan build. I took the clamps off and set this up on the interior of my van camper. When I have access to shore power and need to top off the "house" I, just plug in via the battery charger. In my case, I just run the plug in cord out the back door, but there be sleeker ways to do it. 😊

    Follow up: Some batteries take a bit longer for the final 100% charge indication, which is the Green LED on solid, not pulsating. This can take as long as 48 hours. I have 3 batteries and 2 of them took at least 36 hours to fully charge. After the green pulsing light appears, almost 36 hours later, the green light turned solid. NOCO tech support says some batteries can take 48 hours. If you measure the DC voltage while the battery is charging, it will complete when the voltage reaches 14.5 Volts DC. For sure this is one really well built charger. Also, not all batteries that have problems can be restored. But even if you are able to repair 2 batteries that pays for the NOCO Genius 10. Well built and solid design.

    Nice review actually. I bought a Genius 5, used multimeter to measure the charging voltages, some spikes were seen to 19v at the beginning which was a bit worrying. I saw the similar pattern like 9:23, the voltage dropped to 12.6v and stepped 0.1v up per second to around 14v until showing battery is charged 100%, then dropped to about 13v(can't remember exactly). my battery is EFB, according to manual the charging voltage should be around 14.4v but so far i have never seen it was upto 14.4v, maybe i missed.

    • @pedrorojascervantes3928
      @pedrorojascervantes3928 Před 2 lety +2

      The 19 volt spikes are very likely pulses to desulphate the plates to optimize / restore the capacity of the battery. It's basically jolting it back to life.
      You will definitely see these jumps in voltage when the battery has gone flat. If you hook up an ammeter you should see spikes as well.
      This is why the NOCO brand has a premium price over comparable chargers. You're paying for the sophisticated microprocessors. Well worth the dough!

    For those who does not read the manual (like me), I think it should be point out that Noco recommends not to plug the AC before hooking it up to the battery. I plugged mine in to test it and non on the function worked when you press the button. So thinking something is wrong, I finally read the manual. MCA@32F 675. 23 amp avg. 140 min.) Will the NOCO Genius 10 be effective at charging and maintaining them together? Second, in another video, I saw that to charge two batteries wired in parallel, I would put the red clip on the (+) terminal of one battery and the black clip on the (-) terminal of the other battery. Is that your understanding? Thanks!

      as long as they are 12v batteries this charger will work great. yes, when charging a bank it is best for a balanced charge to hook up to one batteries positive and the last battery in line's negative. this is also how it should be wired to your charging system for the vehicle.

    Thank you for your great review, I am trying to setup a mobile office behind my car for the main purpose of using a office level laser printer. According to others who have setup this configuration behind their cars, the equipment used are as follows; Laser printer connected to the 2000W inverter, and the 2000W inverter connected to a 100amp deep cycle 12V AGM battery! Now the way these people are recharging the AGM battery, apparently at the end of their day, they take the battery out to their charger and re-charge it overnight! Now my question; is it possible for me to run a second 1100W inverter which I already have connected through the car's cigarette lighter, use this along with NOCO Genius 10 smart charger to recharge the AGM battery while driving and the 2000W inverter is disconnected from the AGM Battery and the printer is off? Does my 1100W inverter running through the cigarette lighter has enough power to connect this charger to it or is it safe?
    Thank you for your time

Also be certain that once that green light shows, the charge is not yet done until that green light stops pulsing.

    The instruction manual is worded in a way that makes me unsure. It says, "12 volt lithium charge mode is designed for lithium ion batteries only, including lithium iron phosphate". It's hard to say without knowing what voltage the charger is at when it's blinking green. But I'd imagine that it's just not getting to a fully charged state, meaning the battery itself could be "bad". A multimeter would help diagnose whats going on.

      Assuming those are actually rechargeable D cell batteries and not some Duracell batteries that are one time use only, then this 10 amp charger would be way too much of a charger for them. You need to get a 1 amp or 2 amp charger at most. I recently spoke with NOCO support regarding charging a 9 amp hour sealed battery using my 10 amp charger (identical to the one in the video here) and even that was too much of a charger for my 9 amp hour battery. The support agent said any battery with a capacity above 20 amp hours should use a 5 or 10 amp charger. Any battery below 20 amp hours should use a one or two amp charger. So without a doubt, this 10 amp charger will be too much for your small capacity D cell batteries even if they are all in series to make 12 volts. Since you posted this one year ago, you may have already tried using that charger for your batteries so reply and let us know how it went. Did your batteries get destroyed or did it actually work? What condition are your batteries in one year later? Do they still hold a charge? And what setting did you choose on the charger itself when you charged them?
