One of the best reviews of genius 10.. This actually explains nicely each mode and how to select it & what exactly each mode does.. Very nice for a novice home owner, who wants an all round general purpose battery charger (kids car +my car).
Thank you.
Your review was a touch above the rest as you went into the faults and explanation in a clear instructions and nice to see the buttons marked out and a quick and professional explanation on the faults that you may come across. Thanks
Good review. Note this: some batteries, depending on the capacity and condition, will take up to 48 hours in the maintenance mode, to fully reach 100%. The single green LED will pulse until the DC voltage reaches 15.5 DC. (FACT CHECK THAT) Then the LED will turn solid Green. This is not stated in the directions, but NOCO tech support will "school" you if you are having trouble. I recharged up a standard 585 CCA lead acid battery. It took around 36 hours before the Green light turned solid. To convert the CCA to Ah, multiply the CCA rating by .7 (.725 to be precise.) I have used NOCO products for a few years now. This Genius 10 is a fine unit.
Yeah I was wondering about how long it takes even with a 10amp charger it take forever I had disconnected before full charge since I tought it be done is 24 hrs but apparently I was wrong
Thank you. I was wondering about that pulsing green if it was done.
NinJazz Rhythm my 70 amp battery took 4 full days to charge until I got a solid green
Thank you for this note. This was very helpful. I thought something might be wrong when after a day the green light has not yet turned solid.
Yeah thanks I was totally wondering about that too! Must be like it really has to slow down from bulking the battery but then it like takes a long time to force that last little bit slowly!
I watched this video and bought the Genius10 charger from High-Tech Battery Solutions.
Received it early today and it's being used right now. Everything has worked perfectly, so far.
The video made understanding and using the charger much easier.
This video is far easier to follow and understand that the tiny manual that comes with the charger. Thanks.
I think you meant it is the ‘successor’ to the G7200 series as opposed to the ‘predecessor’, but otherwise a good review of this product.
Thank you for sharing! I just purchased one and received it in the mail today.
You are the best and most comprehensive review of this charger. I gotta buy one.
Finally a detailed review that was greatly explained in laymen terms. Thank you for the video.
exceptional review - concise and to the point - keep it up
Man, I really appreciate this review. The user manual is very vague and quite useless and I've had trouble figuring the charger out - then I found this. Thank You!
Is it every necessary to use repair mode on a 12v AGM battery? If so, should you use it every so often as a maintenance tool?
Thanks for the video. They should hire you to write their manuals! The manual as written really falls short and your video was great.
Very good video. Very informative and clearly explained. One thing you could add is the different ways the 4 charging lights(red red orange and green) behave in different scenarios relating to the charging process. I’ve noticed with the batteries I’ve been charging over the last few days that the solid green is really the only one that signifies that a battery is actually fully charged, would this be correct?
Yes that is correct, the solid green LED will indicate your at 100% state of charge.
I ve been using the 3500 to trickle. The marine battery I have is just over 1 year old and used twice. I got lazy with the trickle maintenance and now the 3500 has that triangle yellow exclamation point when I try to use it. Would this one you demo help this battery situation?
Thanks for the review 👍
In the detail description of charger it states that it can charge deep cycle battery,
What setting should I use for charging deep cycle battery ?
For deep-cycle batteries, you will not have to select a special setting other than the correct battery chemistry mode.
Thanks for all the explanations. Can repair mode be used on an AGM battery? I keep getting Battery Not Hold Charge error. Should I try the Repair mode? Thx.
If you keep getting the No Hold Charge error then you have nothing to lose by trying the repair mode. If it errors out in the repair mode then your looking at more than just capacity loss as an issue with the battery. I always recommend the repair mode be used only necessary with AGM series batteries. The reason being is that the repair mode can cause gassing in the battery and as you know with a sealed AGM series - you can't replace that lost water.
Great video, thanks for sharing!
Great job very thorough and to the point. Great job
Great video- thank you for the information. Couple of questions: Can this be connected to two 12V AGM batteries connected in parallel arrangement? If so, do you connect to the + terminal on one batter and - on the other?
Yes, you can connect this charger to a pair of 12V batteries wired un in parallel without an issue. You can place the charger clamps on the posts of the very first battery. You would split the clamps between the two batteries if they were wired up in series, no need to do this in parallel as the charge will flow from the first to the second without an issue.
So if I understand you charge a gel battery in 12 volt mode not agm mold am I correct? Thanks for your review
.
Correct, if you're going to charge a GEL battery you want to stay on the standard 12V setting.
Haven’t made my purchase yet. Perhaps it’s clear to everyone but me but I have a question related to the Genius 10. When charging a 12 V battery do I always have to select “repair” mode when I start charging (or does routine charging begin after simply selecting “type” of battery)? Is “repair” mode ONLY selected when reconditioning a battery is necessary?
You would only select repair mode if you know the battery is sulfated. When you're going to charge a 12V battery you would start by selecting the proper battery type - you do not have to select repair mode to begin charging any battery.
Thanks for the informative settings.
Can this be used all year round to maintain our AGM batteries on the ‘12agm’ setting?
(Also aware of the 2D)
Yes, this charger can be left in the 12V AGM mode all year round to maintain an AGM battery without worry.
Hi there, a quick question. If the battery in my car is drained, will I be able to connect the Noco Genius10 and have it charge the battery back to full, then start up my car? I mean without taking the battery out of the car? Or would that work at all?
Does this maintainer shut off when maintaining a battery stored attached to vehicle when battery doesn't need more tricle charge
Thanks for the informative review, do you happen to know what the output is in supply mode? I.e would be suitable for when reflashing/coding ecu's? Thanks.
The output for the supply mode is listed as: 13.6V @ 25°C | 10A | Max 12A. I have never tried reflashing with this charger
Hi,I’ve just used this device to recharge a new deep cycle marine battery, which I bought a couple of months ago, but haven’t yet put into use. Is it to be expected that it would have run down to less than 25% charged in that time, and how could I tell if I needed to employ the repair mode?Thank you.
Deep cycle batteries will lose a % of their charge every day when sitting idle, so depending on how long it sat it's certainly possible. Since the battery is so new I would not worry about using the repair mode. This is for batteries that are on the older side and heavily sulfated.
Can I use the Genius 10 to charge my two 6v hooked up in series as a 12volt, or do I need to unhook the 6V batteries and charge them single as 6v?
You can leave them connected in series and charge them a single 12V without an issue.
The pictures in the manual suggest when it's at full charge, the first 3 orange lights are off. Is that correct? Also, as soon as it hits full charge, it'll probably go into maintenance mode right away. I don't think we'll ever see the solid green at all.
I've been charging my 12V 60Ah car battery since last night and 12+ hours later, I'm looking at 3 solid orange and pulsing green. Just hoping this is the expected behavior and it's in maintenance mode.
Let the charger continue through its charging process - you will see the solid green when it's done. When the light is solid green then it hit its maintenance mode and charge as needed.
Best review so far. Thank you sir
Very clear and concise overview.
Great video, do you have to plug it in an outlet so it will work, the reason why I ask when my RV battery go dead for the winter and when I go out to my storage was the RV is store I don't have any outlet to plug it into to power up.
Yes, you have to plug the charger into the wall in order for it begin charging.
What is a good jump start charger that don't need to be plugged in
Excellent review. Well done!
Let me start by saying I'm trying to learn a bit here.
What would have happened if you stayed in 6V?
As for the repair mode, is there an indicator on the NOCO that tells you repair is needed or do you just set it and see if it goes into repair mode?
If you were to put the charger in the 6V mode on a 12V battery it would error out letting you know that the voltage selected is incorrect. As for the repair mode there is no indicator on the charger that says its time to hit the repair mode. You will have to make that call based on the situation - for example if the battery was sitting discharged for a long period of time, or if you notice an overall lack in capacity of the battery and want to try to recover it.
For a smaller Agm battery, will the Genius 10 charge it too fast or will it do fine! I want to be able to use it on my big car batteries to top off their batteries every month or so in the winter. Thanks, Tom
It will charge batteries over 20 AH without an issue, if you have anything smaller then I recommend stepping down to the NOCO GENIUS5 series.
I just bought one of these as I have a deeply discharged battery and I wanted a charger with the force mode. To begin with however I just wanted to charge a standard 12v car battery. When I plugged it in I expected a steady progression through the charge level indicators from one red block through to the full bar (two reds, an orange and a green). What actually happens is the first red blinks for a while, then the first goes solid and the second blinks a coup,e of times then it goes down to no lights then, after a while it goes up to the Amber for one pulse then back to nothing. It doesn’t seem to progress through the bars but seems to be going up and back down? Is it charging? Is the battery OK? Why don’t the instructions tell you what to expect and what the changing lights mean?
Leave it connected, it sounds like you have an issue with your battery - possibly that it's not retaining the charge. The charger will error out if the battery is not recoverable.
Great review! Thanks for sharing.
So would you use the 12v repair option on a battery that keeps dying? Hard winter didn’t drive the truck much, but ever have to jump start repeatedly
Yes, it may help the battery retain more of its charge if the issue is due to sulfating or acid stratification. If its due the battery plates decomposing or being otherwise compromised then its going to be time for a new battery.
At the beginning of the video, you said the Genius 10 is the predecessor of the 7200 series. I think you meant the opposite. The 7200 series is the predecessor to the Genius 10 series.
Yup, a few people have pointed this out!
Predecesor or Successor?
Successor
Good catch.
Great review, thanks. If I have the Noco 10 charging/maintaining a battery and there is a power disruption, will I need to restart the Noco 10 (i.e. set it for 12 v battery) or will it just continue charging/maintaining the battery when the power goes back on.
The entire GENIUS charger line will remember the mode it was on prior to a power outage and start back up automatically once the power is restored.
@@HighTechBatterySolutionsInc Great! Thank you for responding so quickly.
Helpful video! I'm charging up a Marine/RV deep cycle battery. If I want to put it on trickle charge for this or any other battery, how would I do that? Thank you
The trickle charge mode is built into the last stage of all the charging programs on the charger. All that you would have to do is select the correct charge mode for your battery and then leave the charger to do its thing. Once the battery is fully charged it will then go into its float maintenance mode.
Question: I have a couple of dirt bikes with fairly small 12v batteries (6ah). Will this charger sense the smaller battery and reduce amp levels or am I better to use a Noco Genius 5 on these smaller batteries?
Use the noco 5 for smaller bike/arc batteries that could still be a bit large for a small am battery.
Hi thanks for the video could you tell me do I have to disconnect the battery to use repair mode
Good question, I'm not 100% sure on this so I would recommend only using the manual repair mode on batteries that are disconnected from the vehicle. The problem is a lot of the newer cars have computer systems built in that I would assume could be affected by high voltage spikes - better to play it safe than sorry.
Before plugging in the A.C. plug, put on the battery clamps. Then plug in the A.C. Put the unit into the Repair mode. The red LED will flash on and off. for around 4 hours and then the unit automatically switches out of the Repair mode. However, if the battery is too badly damaged, the Repair mode will end early. Not all batteries can be "Repaired".
Thank you appreciate your detailed review. I got one of these from a friend without instructions
WHILE PLUGGING AND CHARGING THE REGULAR BATTERY DOES IT RECHARGE ALSO THE AUXILLIARY BATTERY IN THE BENZ E350? OR NO
Not 100% on this but I believe AUX battery is isolated from the main buss in the car, so charging the primary battery only will not charge the AUX battery.
Can I leave this on the battery all winter long as a maintainer? I'm about to winterize my trailer and want to set the batteries (2-6Volt in series) on the genius 10--set--and forget--until March. What do you think? Is that a realistic expectations?
Yes you can, ensure your charger is on the 12V mode and connected properly to charge both batteries and your good to go.
Hi, thanks for the video. Why don’t these new chargers show on the NOCO website?
We honestly don't know when they will put these new units up on their site
@@HighTechBatterySolutionsInc And here's all 4 of their new Genius series.
It also includes some estimated charging time charts based on different size batteries at 50% discharge.
So I have a question for you and probably have more after I get my charger.
Unfortunately I have the Genius5 on the way (5amp) only to find out the boat I bought has a 114 AH deep cycle 12 v which could handle the Genius10 you reviewed and would have cut my recharging time in half. Bummer!
Oh well...
So do I charge the deep cycle 12 v battery in the "normal" 12 volt mode?
Thanks!
I don't think they've been on their website very long.
Here ya go>
no.co/products/charging/multipurpose
@@dandettmann595 If your batteries are flooded then yes you will be charging on the 12V normal mode. If your running sealed AGM series in there then you're going to be using the AGM mode.
Hi there, I have this charger for my 2015 x-trail. It has a efb battery and is stop start. What is the best charge setting for the stop start battery please. I also bought the gb70 jumper pack as it has let me down a few times now so its for pease of mind.
Many thanks.
The EFB's are still going to fall under the standard 12V setting on the charger
What does the genius10 have over the genius5 apart from higher amps and 12v supply mode?
Which to get ??
5 vs 10 amp
I ended up just buying the 5, it works ok. Haven’t tried the 10
Question. I have a 6 volt battery in a positive ground car (ground cable on positive post to engine block and starter cable to negative post). When charging with this charger - I would still hook up clamps neg-neg and pos-pos right? Is it even necessary to remove car cables off battery before I hook up this trickle charger? Just don’t want to damage anything such as starter or battery.
You are correct, you're still going to be connecting the charger positive to positive and negative to negative. You will want to connect the charger directly to the terminals of the battery, and there is no need to disconnect the battery from the vehicle during charging.
Perfect for what I needed. Thanks
I have a fiamm batt that have not intensive used at all prior and has been sitting around untouch for 6Years. I’ve recovered to 12v but after using it for a few connections with a dc ac pure Snr wave inverter, it went below 9v. I did not recharge it for a while but when I tried, it was not able to charge up normally. No obvious bloating but now I can’t bring it back to life. Now it reads 0-1v. I’m contemplating to buy NocoG10. Will it able to force it back to 12v even without refreshing it with Epsom salt?
The recondition mode of the GENIUS10 will be able to recover a portion of the capacity of the battery however 6 years untouched is a very long time. If the plates have physically deteriorated then even attempting to refresh the battery would not yield any results as the total active surface area available to produce energy has been permanently reduced.
How long it takes to charge the battery... Can you use this unit to charge your jumping start like GB70 Unite...
Great review I do have two questions one is I plan on plugging this into my Ford F-150 built-in power inverter what is Inlet voltage this unit draws I want to make sure it doesn't trip my Factory inverter.?
My second question is I have a battery in my bed that is powering a refrigerator I'd like this to be automatic so when I turn my truck on it'll sense that it's plugged in and automatically power up the charger my question is do I have to manually turn on every time power supply to the unit is turned off is there a way to set it and forget it we're it'll automatically go on to Prior settings when power is applied?
The GENIUS10 unit requires about 150 watts to operate and it will remember the last setting it was in, so if the charger loses power you will not have to re-select the correct charge setting as it will remember the last setting it was on.
You would be a LOT more efficient by installing a high output alternator and wiring your second battery into your truck as a second battery. I’d use an isolator. Look up wakesurfing boat forums on adding a second battery. It’s the same principle. They want their second battery to run a stereo for long periods, but save enough charge in the first battery to start the engine. This would be much more efficient and easier for you in the long run. You’re losing efficiency through that inverter.
do these chargers also act as tenders, can I leave it connected to my battery all winter to keep it healthy, or do I need a dedicated tender?
Yes, these chargers will kick into maintenance mode once the battery is fully charged and can be left connected all winter without an issue
will this noco charger charges deep cycle marine batteries as well as car battery? thank you so much
Yes, this charger is able to handle batteries up to 230AH worth of capacity!
You know, when to turn the self facing mode on whether it's dead or churged. What does it mean when you have a green and red light flashing back-and-forth?
So it won’t work with a 270amp lithium battery with 30a standard charge.
Would you recommend a novo genius or Victron smart charger?
The GENIUS10 is recommended for batteries up to 230 AH so that would fall outside of the chargers recommended range. You could step up to the NOCO G15000 unit which is able to handle that capacity. I do not have any experience with Victron unfortunately.
Fantastic review.
I have three marine 12V AGM batteries that are now showing only 8V due to long-term storage without a charger. I have an onboard charging system but it doesn't charge due to the low voltage. Two of the batteries are connected in parallel. Can I charge both batteries at once with the Noco charger, or do I have to disconnect them first? What are the odds that I actually can charge these batteries up to at least 10-11 volts so that my on-board system can take over the rest of the charging? Thanks in advance for your advice.
Yes, you can charge up both of these batteries in parallel without an issue. I don't think you will have a problem getting them up in the 10-11 volt range but I would recommend leaving them on the NOCO GENIUS10 until they are fully charged - let the charger run through its paces to give you the best outcome possible
when it switches to maintenance does it still charge at 10 amps? If so is that bad for battery life? my use is for a trolling motor 1 -4 times per month the rest of time on charger. suggestions should I use the 10 amp to charge after battery use and a 1 amp charger to maintain?
The GENIUS10 unit will only hit the battery with the full 10 amp charge in the bulk charge mode. This is in the 25% up to the 75% charge level indicated on the charger. After that it begins stepping the charge rate down as the battery gets closer to 100% fully charged. In the maintenance mode your right around an amp on the battery.
Its hard to tell, but can I use this to jump start my old Maxima 2000 car battery? Its completely dead and hasnt run in a few weeks. I just need to get it to the point where I can move it to another location within a 100 yards
You cant jump start a car with 10 amps
Can this model jump start, or quickly charge of I have a dead battery (Honda CR-V)? I started searching for a jump starter, incase j leave my lights on, but Instead I'm thinking about getting the genius to keep on my car during the pandemic. What would be a wiser purchase?
It sounds like you need a jump starter, I would recommend taking a look at the GB40. The GENIUS10 needs to be plugged into an AC outlet to work and, depending on how dead the battery is, it will need time to bring your battery up to a charged enough level your car will start.
this went right over my head...so, quick question. I opened the box, plugged it in for three days. Nothing changed on the lights to indicate it was full. I suppose I'm old school. I need to put a charge on my car that has been sitting for a few months...someone told me to put it on a slow charge for a few days to get it back working as the battery is only a yr old. Help please....
Did you hit the mode button to engage the charger?
Do all the charge indicator lights stay on when charge is complete. The instructions and different videos are a little confusing. I’ve had mine plugged up for a day and all the lights are on
and the green just keeps pulsing.
Once the battery is fully charged the last green LED will be the only light showing a solid green. If it's flashing at the moment then it's topping the battery off - leave the charger connected to let the charging cycle finish.
i want the g15000, or the g26000, but they are the older type, so i thought Genius10, but will they bring out a genius 15 or genius26, if so id wait,
Great video! QUESTION: Mine just arrived my wife hasn't been driving her car so it sits for a week or more at a time. Should I run the charge mode first, or the repair most first?
I recommend running the standard charge mode on the unit, I only recommend hitting the repair mode if your having any starting issues or capacity issues with the battery.
can the charger be hooked up to two batteries, either 6 volt in series as in a motor home or 12 voltin parallel as in accessory battery array?
Yes, it can be hooked up in either setup without an issue. As long as the voltage is either 6 or 12 then you are good to go! Just note that on a parallel battery bank hooking the charger up to the first battery will charge the entire bank. If you're looking to charge a bank in series then your connection will have to be split - positive on the first in the string and the negative on the last.
Nice review. What voltage does the charger allow the battery to drop to before it kicks in and starts charging again? I had mine get my battery up to about 14V and when I checked on it a couple of weeks later it had dropped to 12.5(ish)V and the green light was solid, indicating full charge still. I switched the charger off and on again and it started the charging process and had the battery back up to 13V in a few minutes. Is there an issue? Battery only a few months old. Thanks.
I ran your question by NOCO, here is their official response: It sounds like the battery may not be holding a good resting voltage, and the charger may be timing out.
The maintenance trickle charge should start when the voltage drops below 12.7V, and the LED should be pulsing green. If the battery is not holding a good resting voltage, the charger will timeout and stop applying the charge to prevent overcharging the battery. If the voltage drops below 12.4V the charger will start the full charge over.
Thanks for getting back to me - I’ll double check the voltages during the same situation again to see if I can pin point any issues.
So you have to manually put the charger into the repair mode unlike some other smart chargers which do that automatically, am I correct? To charge a sulfated battery, it is a 2 step process( normal mode first until as fully charged as possible then the repair mode), it seems. I'm assuming the indicator that the repair mode needs to be activated/ selected is the charge bar at the end of the first step which would not reach the solid green light. Thanks.
Negative, setting the charger to its standard 12V mode will also do the trick as it is able to detect the sulfation in the battery and begin to desulfate. The repair mode on this charger is used if you know your battery is damaged, been sitting for a long period of time, stratified etc. and you want to jump right into it.
@@HighTechBatterySolutionsInc Thank you, sir.
hi there.. just a question on what setting does the NOCO needs to be at when you're doing a long term charging?.... Say when the car will be left for months during the winter in a dry storage? thank YOU..
Any of the regular charge settings will include the float & maintenance mode. So if you have a standard flooded car battery you would leave the charger on the 12V setting.
@@HighTechBatterySolutionsInc the battery is a Lead Acid type... (Amaron battery) from India... The charger is Noco Genius 10. Purchased recently from the States.. .. So will it be OK on 12 AGM then...? Thank you so much sir..
@@skotsephrenia1 If the battery is a sealed AGM style then yes, however, if the battery is flooded with removable caps then you want to select the standard 12V mode.
I have a 12v AGM battery and I've selected the proper AGM mode and left it to charge (genius 10). But the charge indicator is still flashing red on the first bar after 3 hours.
Let it do its thing, if there is an issue the charger will display an error code.
Hello. Could you tell me if the genius 5 would charge silver-calcium batteries? Thanks
Yes, both the GENIUS5 and the GENIUS10 series will be able to charge that style of battery. You will need to set the charger in the 12V AGM mode in order to get the proper charging voltage for that series.
when you mgetnthe battery pack out of the box do you have to charge it
Can you use the recovery mode on a dead agm battery? In my experience the agm batteries are sometimes impossible to recharge once they’re left dead
Depends on the battery, all I can do is tell you what we do at the shop. If the charger is not able to detect the battery out of the gate we switch the GENIUS10 to the supply mode and leave it connected to the battery for 30 minutes to an hour depending on the battery size. This will throw amperage into the battery regardless if its recoverable or not and raise the voltage level. Once the voltage has been raised from 0 then the charger should be able to properly engage on the AGM setting. Once the AGM setting runs through its charging process and the battery is fully charged we then switch the charger into the repair mode.
Great review, what is your opinion on Pulsetech PowerPulse passive desulfators?
Can this be used for 2022 Porsche Targa for maintenance of its battery
Does this have to be plugged into a wall socket to charge it, or for the car? Hopefully its stand alone? Will do charging stand alone? Do I need to recharge this battery charge off electrical outlet?
Yes, this is strictly a battery charger that needs to be plugged into an AC outlet to function - it will not be able to jump-start your battery. If your looking for a jump starter check out the NOCO GB40 series unit: www.techbatterysolutions.com/noco-gb40-boost-jump-starter/
Thanks for answering my last question but I have another one... I have a 2021 Ram 3500 diesel with 2 batteries , Could I use the Genius10 to charge my 2 truck batteries using the rear 7 pin trailer connector in the rear of the truck. It would be easier access for me. I've heard rumors it can be done but I can't find anything on how to go about it. Any suggestion would be very much appreciated.
Unfortunately that I have no experience with, I'm not sure its possible.
My son give me the Noco Genius 10. I have a 2019 Camaro SS. Planning to store it for the winter months, at least three to four months. How do I use this charger to keep my battery charged? Great video, by the way.
Did you end up getting this charger just wondering because I have a 2016 SS Camaro that I store for the Winter I had a CTech charger but it burned up so I'm looking in to one of these noco's
What should My noco genius 10 read on my multimeter when charging a 12 v lithium battery
Informative review. You mentioned the Genius 10 is the successor to the 7200 line. How would you rate the Genius 10 in comparison to the Genius 7200 ? Which is the superior product ?
The GENIUS10 is certainly a step above the G7200 in terms of charging modes and power output. The charger has battery diagnostics right on the faceplate and low voltage detection down to 1V (used to be 4V) which we see as a huge plus. The only thing that was a bummer for us is that the G7200 was capable of charging both 12/24V batteries - the GENIUS10 series stepped that down to 6V/12V. Very few people would actually need the 24V mode which is why they dropped it from the model but there was a small market for it that we had to shift to a more expensive model.

I have an Audi and the physical battery is under the floor under the driver seat. It does have the + & - poles under the hood. Can I connect this device to those poles or it has to be connected to the physical battery? Thanks!
I honestly don't know until you try it. If your Audi has a BMS then it may shut down that + & - pole under the hood after the vehicle has been shut off. I would think that they remain live just in case your battery dies and you need to jump-start the vehicle.
Hello, I have an SOK 206Ah battery that I've been using for testing/ running my electrical system in my campervan. I have been away for about a week and noticed that my lights wouldn't turn on and that the battery was completely dead (26mV) I only have a conventional 12V 6A charger which I mistakenly tried to use to bring the voltage back up. Will the Noco genius 10 be able to wake up my battery and charge back to normal and which mode should I use?
In all honesty I'm not sure the GENIUS10 would be able to wake up the BMS on the SOK. I recommend reaching out to the company to see what they recommend - I'm sure there is an SOP for this kind of thing they can send to you.
I love the review. Can you use the Force mode to fast charge a battery, say when you are needing to start a car quickly?
I personally have not tried this, it may work if you let the force mode run for the full 5 minutes but the output may not be high enough to jump-start the car in a short period of charging time.
@@HighTechBatterySolutionsInc thanks for the response, even without it, it seems like one of the best chargers for its options and price.
Thanks for great video
, I have a question. I have a NOCO GENIUS10 repair mod. Can I use it for agm car battery?
Yes, you can use it on an AGM battery. I do not recommend using it often on an AGM however, only when its needed as repeated usage of the recovery mode can damage an AGM battery.
What settling would a 2022 Honda Accord use? 12V or 12V agm? I’m thinking the 12V agm based on your video but not 100% sure.
I believe the OEM battery for the 2022 Honda Accords are enhanced flooded batteries or EFB's. These units would require the standard 12V mode of charging.
hi, I just purchased this. Can you tell me how long the device needs to be plugged in to fully charge it? How will I know? Thank you I know it is a basic question.
Just to clarify, this is a AC operated battery charger. It does not have an internal battery that can be charged up, it must be plugged into an AC outlet in order to function.
The directions state that the NOCO 10 automatically detects and restores lost battery performance for stronger engine starts and extended battery life. If I plugged the charger in once and left it turned on, would it run the battery sulfation and acid stratification cycles as many times as needed or would I have to unplug the charger and plug it in again for the charger to run another battery sulfation and acid stratification cycle?
I'm not sure, but would bet that the charger runs this process a single time. If the battery comes up to the fully charged level after this process is completed successfully then charger will then go into its maintenance mode. If you feel the need to run the mode again I suggest switching the charger into its dedicated repair mode.
How long do I charge the Noco when I first take it out of the box? will it turn green when it is ready for use? thank you
The NOCO GENIUS10 unit is not a jump starter and there is not internal battery to charge. The unit needs to be plugged into a wall outlet and then connected to a battery in order to begin charging it. If you are looking for a jump starter I suggest checking out the NOCO GB40 or GB50 units.
@@HighTechBatterySolutionsInc Thank you
Can I use it to repair a 12v AGM battery? Manual says repair mode is for lead acid batteries only, which is ambiguous as wet cell and AGM are BOTH types of lead acid technology! Thanks
Yes, just no other chemistry - like lithium for example.
@@HighTechBatterySolutionsInc ah makes sense ta
A nice review. How do you get the 12V repair function to work? I switch to it and it just blinks red. I’m trying to figure out how to get it to solid red/activate.
The blinking red is what you're looking for, the light will continue to blink red throughout the whole repair process. Once it's completed you will get the solid green LED on the charger.
This is the same question I had! The manual said solid red everything else I saw said solid red and mine is just flashing.
@@HighTechBatterySolutionsInc how do you know if your battery needs the repair mode if you can get the car to start with the charging mode only with one or two red lights across the bars and it has not reached the green light yet? When I select the Repair mode it just flashes red.
@@cheryllinford443 We recommend using the repair mode if the battery is not performing as it should, or if it's been left in a discharged state for longer than 30 days. If you accidentally drain your battery and its not been left in a discharged state for 30+ days then we recommend hitting it with the standard charge mode.
Can you do.a.video how to use the supply mode pls ?
I've plugged the deep cycle flooded battery of my travel trailer(rv) to it to maintain the charge when I'm not out. The genius after about 3-5 days goes off and the "can't hold charge"light comes on. After I reset the genius it'll work for 3-5 days and shut off again. I checked the rv supply and it says full charge. Any idea why it keeps having to be reset instead of floating?
It could be a parasitic drain on the battery that the charger detects and diagnoses as the battery not able to retain a charge.
@@HighTechBatterySolutionsInc so I'm guessing fully disconnecting the trailer before putting on the charger would fix that problem. I was just hoping I could've left it hooked up so I don't always have to reset the clocks inside. Thanks for your input
Great review! Will the Noco Genuis10 adjust the charge amperage automatically according to the charged battery characteristics?
The GENIUS10 unit will taper off its bulk charge rate as the battery nears the fully charged point and continue to lessen the charge until the battery is fully charged. Its the last 10% thats considered the finishing charge in which the charger is ramping down from its bulk charge mode.
@@HighTechBatterySolutionsInc Thank you!
I have 2 questions.
Does the green light stay on when fully charge or does it pulse on and off? And what do you set charger on when charging flooded deep cycle batteries?
The green light will be solid and steady when the battery is 100% fully charged. The flashing green means that the battery is 90% or higher but not all the way topped off. The charging algo you want to use for flooded batteries is the standard 12V setting.
@@HighTechBatterySolutionsInc
Ok., that's what I figured but wanted to know forsure. Thank you
I have a noco 7200. While charging a battery. If the charging green light never goes solid what does that mean?
For the G7200 unit, it could mean that the there is an issue with the battery assuming it's within the chargers operating range. I would recommend getting the battery checked.
Does the GENIUS10 charger save its battery settings (battery type, voltage level, etc) when you unplug it from AC power? In other words, so I need to select my battery type and 12v or 6v every time I plug it into AC? I am looking into purchasing this charger to keep in a camper van for the house battery. But I will not always be on shore power, so it would nice to not have to change settings every time I hook up shore power. Thanks, and great video!
The charger will remember the setting it was last on so you do not have to physically select it every time you unplug the charger.
High-Tech Battery Solutions, Inc Thanks for the quick response and information! One other question. Let’s say I have this connected to a house battery in my camper van, and I am using a few power consumers in the van that run off of that same house battery. If I am connected to shore power (and thus the GENIUS10 charger is also powered on), do you know if the charger will help supply a steady DC current to maintain the house battery level? (assuming that my current draw off of the battery is less than the chargers 10amp capacity)
@@maf337 To my knowledge the charger will supply a steady current regardless of the conditions affecting the battery. The only thing I can think of is that you will run the risk of over-charging your batteries should this setting be left on for long periods of time and you have no draw on your batteries. Since this is a straight power supply mode there is no feedback loop between the battery and charger to let the charger know the battery is topped off.
Ok, Optima redtop here so do I use 12v agm or 12v repair mode 2 charge? I left the battery hooked up 2 my truck and it sat for a good 2 weeks or so and it recognizes the battery 🔋 so I just use 12v agm cause its a high end battery rite.
You are correct - stick with the 12V AGM mode for the Optima
