    Lithium batteries have become the standard for powering sonar on kayaks and boats and on the ice as well as powering trolling motors. However, these batteries require specific chargers that are different from traditional sealed lead acid batteries.
    Recommended chargers:
    - 5, 10, or 20 amp Rebel batteries chargers (under All Products): www.rebelbatteries.com?afmc=1d
    - 10 amp charger with alligator clips amzn.to/33kN4iR

    I have a 12 volt diesel tank with a 10GPM pump. It states 12 Volt 10 amp. I only use it 5 minutes a month. I assume a 10 amp lithium battery would technically run it about 50 minutes before getting a low voltage?

  • @TGLRD

    Hey Tyler. You should update the link for the 10amp charger. That product is discontinued. It was easy enough for me to find the new version but you might want the appropriate link.

    I wouldnt mind spending more money to get faster charging but will that lead to tripping breakers for the outlets? I dont want to pay for a charger that my home wiring cant handle.

  • @matthewknight5641
    @matthewknight5641 Před rokem

    I need a good 100 amp charger for a 30 kw 24 volt battery i built. It normally charges from my victron solar equipment but sometimes it would be nice to just plug into the house and charge with something more than the 40 amps that my house plug charger does. Maybe i just need a few of the 40 amp chargers but youd think theyd make something larger for the big batteries

    • @stevenichols4060
      @stevenichols4060 Před 2 měsíci

      What brand 40 amp charger do you use? Are there any issues with tripping the breaker on you home's outlet circuit?

    • @matthewknight5641
      @matthewknight5641 Před 2 měsíci

      @@stevenichols4060 I use a power max 50 amp charger that only actually pushes about 40 to 46 amps. It's never tripped a breaker unless I had something else on the same circuit. I also have a 3000 watt powmr inverter that has a super nice 40 amp ac charger built in and it's adjustable from 5 amps up to 40 amps and you can adjust the voltage from I'm thinking like 22 volts up to 30 volts but I never charge to higher than 29.2 and normally only charge to about 28 volts. If I use both chargers at once I can charge from AC at about 85 amps but they definitely gotta be plugged into separate outlets. The power max is cheaper and it's been a great way to charge when ive needed it and I'd highly recommend either charger. I have a DC to DC victron charger that I've used to link my leaf battery bank to my 30 kw of lifepo4 and the DC to DC charger is adjustable in every way imaginable. I set it so that if the lifepo4 get down to 22 volts the DC to DC automatically turns on and dumps all the leaf battery into the lifepo4 bank. I hated seeing the leaf pack sitting not being used after building the lifepo4 so I made it part of my energy storage. I have 4 victron charge controllers for my solar and a couple spare powmr on the shelf but once I started using victron I doubt the powmr cc will be used although they were actually great also but the monitoring with my phone is better with the victron. I'm still using the 4000 watt low frequency splitphase sungold inverter as well. I'm no solar expert but I do love it so if you need any advice I'd be glad to help

    A few questions: 1) Since you're not supposed to leave a LiFePo4 battery on a charger after it's 100% charged, do the Lithium specific chargers automatically shut off when fully charged or do you need to monitor it? 2) Do the Lithium chargers you recommend indicate the charge level when you connect them? Otherwise, do you have to buy something separate to verify the actual charge level? 3) what's the best way to reduce the charge to 70% before storing? 4) I'm planning to keep my LiFePo4 battery (20AH) in a standard battery box along with a PWM. Would you recommend putting a small fan in for ventilation? 5) Is there a cheap charge indicator you can leave on your boat/kayak set-up? I'd like something I can view from the seat of my kayak but that's not connected to the motor or battery box. Thank.

      1.) Is not true. Almost all modern lithium batteries have a BMS system that prevents over charge and damage to the battery.
      2.) None of the chargers show the charge levels, although on the larger Bluetooth capable batteries you can simply use the app to check them.
      3.) Reducing to 70% is easy. Just drain the battery using something that has a known amp draw and draw it down 30%
      4.) No fan is necessary unless storing in direct sun light
      5.) There are some products available ampedoutdoors.com/products/bluetooth-smart-capacity-meter

    I purchased a reBel 50 Ah battery for my first trolling motor. Unfortunately reBel might be out of business. Entire inventory soldout & no reply of email i sent on July 22nd. Battery charger just started acting up after only 4 months use. Looks like i am going RoyPow ( Battery Teardown via William Prowse ). Just got my first fish finder so needed another battery. I usually fish for around 5 hours ...... and use full throttle a lot to get to my destination. RoyPow has a 30 Ah model for only $160. This will power Fish Finder & give me some extra energy reserve for trolling motor.
    RoyPow (10 amp ) charger would work fine for my reBel ?

      I bought a brand new 12V 100ah lithium ion battery from a friend who says he never used and it's at eighty percent. I'm probably not going to use the battery for the next 6 or 7 months for the off season for me. Is that ok to store the battery at eighty percent or do I need to reduce the percent and how? Also, the battery didn't come with terminals.You have a link for 8M terminals?

    Hey Tyler. I bought the ampere battery charger off Amazon. First time charging my Aolithium battery. The battery charger light stayed red even when the battery was reading 100 percent charged on the app. I’ve read don’t overcharge so I pulled it off the charger. But the light wasn’t green. Any insight on this? Thank you
