- A subscriber reached out and said they got out of racing several years ago but still had their race car hauling ramp truck but would like to part with it. So of course we jumped on the opportunity to own another ramp truck! This 1978 Chevrolet C30 had been off the road for nearly 8 years. Let's see if we can get it back on the road! If you're interested in purchasing the ramp truck in as seen condition, it can be yours for $4,000. As always, thanks for watching!

I think you spend too much time on mice and the glove box and such and you should get on with the fixing stuff.
And here I thought we weren't going to get a comment to pin this week. Thanks for your submission!
@@MortskeRepair ho ho ho
C’mon this is light entertainment if you want to see something fixed do it yourself lol
@@MortskeRepair oh come on! You know there’s always one for ya! Never a shortage of negativity available! 😠
Mortske is trying to show us everything that is involved when rescuing a vehicle from disappearing into oblivion. The mice and nests in the glove box or wherever are definitely a part of the process. Mortske keep up the good work brother.
I never get tired of the 2 for 1 highlight of Mortske zapping himself with the coil wire. Gets me every time. “Let’s try it again… aaaaahOWWWWWWaaahhhhh!!”
'By the power of Grey skull ' 😆 c'mon Mortske giver all the juices .. Happy New Year.
I actually like the compilation of fire events especially the one where Mortske's voice changed when the hot sauce bottle was burning. 😂😂
This 🤣🤣🤣
Who says lightning never strikes twice! 😆
For me its like life, the realisation that no matter what, the starter cannot be resuscitated, it is dead, DOA.
I think, THINK, the purpose of the lever on the radcap is so you can vent the pressure to the overflow/pukehose without taking the cap off and getting blasted with a superheated antifreeze death bath. At least that's how I use them on my awful junk
yep that is it.. i guess throwing a rag over it was not good enough for the next gen...
That's exactly what it's for.
I opened a VERY hot radiator cap when I was around 10. If I have to get a new radiator cap, I always try to find a Stant one. I'm in my mid 70's, and I can still remember the surprise I got.
@@jim874 My buddy has burn scars on his right arm and hand from doing it with a glove for protection, the glove instantly got saturated and the 5 seconds it took him to get it off was enough to cook him pretty good
I love those hideous things
I’m impressed that you managed to shoot a video last week. I’m always amazed that the older a vehicle gets, the more half-assed the repairs become.
Thanks for another Mortske Monday and thanks to the editing department 🍺🐾
Thanks Stu!
So true the editing dept doesn’t get the props they deserve. Good call
Its good to see Duff doing frame safety inspections after evicting rodents and tax collectors from the projects. Super fair price on this rig, you don't know how much you need one till you own one. All the best for the new year and thanks for the great content!
Same to you!
It's cool how you and Duff work together. You inspect most of the vehicle, but Duff does undercarriage. Efficient!
Appreciate you two!
Right on
😅
Not sure about that comment but this channel
Is Good 👍🏼
My Reference was to Bill OC
To clarify my above comment
BY THE POWER OF GREYSKULL!! Gets me every time 😂
Its pretty funny 😄
Took me 20 minutes to realize I wasn't watching finnegans garage with all the ramp truck content.
So close
Morning everyone hope you had a great Christmas and hope you have a Happy new year
Same to you bud
Same to you
Happy early New Year!
Thank You Kindly & a Happy Holidays to you and yours. Keep It Safe Out There
Right back at you Shawn.
It was -1 here in Connecticut yesterday and it is going to be 60 degrees here on Friday. Crazy weather.
Wild
Oh hell yeah!!! It's another MULLET MORTSKE MONDAY!!!!
Good to see you Fella
As someone who has been shocked before multiple times you can’t help but laugh at yourself and others it happens to and it’s funnier with the Heman clip 😂 and I believe its a Venturi action we have that on some of our old self priming water pumps at work
Hey Mortsk. Don't worry about the furnace. It's really not that bothersome. Just do what you do man. 😉
Mojo’s a good dude. Checking to make sure Mortske doesn’t go out and freeze to death on a test drive.
He sure is!
Maybe Sandra is one of those PETA people. Mortske could gather up all those mini wire munchers up and send them to her. Looking through the glove box is just like automotive archeological digging. Keep up the good work. Happy New Year
Same to you!
Hey Mortske, a bad day in the Dakotas is better than most good days anywhere else. 😊
You might know this already but Derek over at Vice grip garage has a fix for the square body hood kink.
No worries about the furnace and compressor. No problems hearing you over them. Good stuff as always. I'm glad I'm not the only guy who's had a mouse run down his shoulder. I don't think I'd feel too bad about using the ramp off of this for your other project. That engine could certainly be useful to bring some other project back to life too.
The shocking never gets old. The fires were good to.
Man, I do but don't miss living in North Dakota, I remember the 1 year I was up in Kenmare, ND, It snowed a few days before my birthday which is in June lol
Yuck
The best thing about monday it's mortski day
God bless the seller for hooking mortske up with freebies.
Hey Mortske and Duff 👋, great video for a cold Monday to watch and stay inside. Thanks for sharing and have a great week 👋
Our pleasure
No crappy comments yet, dang. Merry Christmas, keep up the good work young man. Love the content.
Think Ol Shep dropped this weeks crappy comment. It’s not the best yet but it will work.
Monday morning with Duff and Mortske! Always a good time.
Always love your content. “If this was a 307 it would have only added to the plethora of trash here”. Hilarious!
Glad you enjoy it!
The center stud under the hood was a safety feature. It was to prevent the back of the hood from going through the windshield in a collision and decapitating the occupants
Good to know!
Yikes! Anti-guillotine device.
What's the fun in that? Must be a Ralph Nader thing. lol
@@jefferywarburton2116 Classic Ralph
Part of the fix was the notches in the hoods. Its why so many GM cars and trucks hood bend in the middle. My 68 GTOs hood is that way and you have to close it just like a square body or it will kink.
Good job bringing another one back. Also, congrats on adding Ronny Milsap to your repertoire of iconic welder/fabricators. A couple of other nominees: José Feliciano and Jeff Healey.
The way Jeff Healey played that guitar….Wow…He was awesome. With some practice, he probably could have welded half-decent.
Jeff Healey is more of a TIG welder in this crowd.
Glazed Donuts with Duff on snow and ice.
This truck is like a rolling museum of half-ass repairs, mechanical, electrical, welding and more, it's got it all!
But wait, there's more!
Thank you for your video. I'm a little late this week with my viewing. I appreciate your efforts to produce fine auto repair footage and auto advice. I, along with many, prefer your channel over others.
Please give Duff a pat on the head and I hope you have a early spring in 2023!
So basically, high nickel cast iron is more heat resistant and stronger than any other cast iron alloy. So it's a pretty good block.
But the only issue is the high nickel content blocks had thinner cylinder walls and they don't recommend going over .030 if bored
Love square bodies! Another great one Duff!
Oh Yah!
That "ramp truck" is more like a junk heap on wheels! LOL
I'm sure you'll yank that engine out and throw it in a Rat-Rod before the summer even hits us!
Thanx Sir Morticus!
We shall see
Thank you for sharing and your APPRECIATION to your subscribers Mortske
My pleasure!
I’m digging the ramp truck. Thanks for posting a video as normal. You and Wes are my go to channels. Merry Christmas brother.
Same to you!
Those rear brake lines had seen a LOT of action. Good on ya for cleaning the whole thing up Safety THIRD!!
Dennis Collins has the car hauler, the support crew, even the offroad forklift. Mortske has Duff. Nuff Said
Mortske,Hope you and your Family had a great Christmas
Same to you!
Excited to watch what you've done know I love watching this subscription
Love the channel even the second channel. The flip lever on the rad cap was to prevent scalding when hot. When rad under pressure you flip that lever and all the pressure releived out tge overflow hose.
Thanks for the info!
Hope you guys had a good Christmas, have a happy and prosperous 2023.
Same to you John!
Mortske needs to add the shock series to the intro ! Makes me laugh every time!
The suction created by a flowing fluid is called the Venturi effect. It's used in carberators and to pull soap into the water stream in a pressure washer. For the flow to continue after the air is off, the draining end of the tube needs to be lower than the gasoline in the old tank (siphoning)
Thanks for the info!
Merry Christmas to you and your family! Always enjoy watching all your project's Kevin!
Same to you!
2 of the best trucks ever made!! The 67-72 bumpside ford trucks and the 73-80 roundeye squarebody chevy trucks!!💗💗
You got that right!
I’m also trying to find a solution to the sticky gm steering wheels. I had some luck with solvents and a stiff nylon or brass brush, but it takes a fair enough of time.
Good luck!
Boy watching you guys out in the snowy wilds of the midwest makes me feel alot better about being in the coldest winter in years in my part of South Carolina. Always enjoy the videos bud hope you and Duff had a great xmas!
Happy holidays!
Merry Christmas from another South Carolinian
@@scottwilson1841 Same to you!
I speak racecar hauler. The aluminum brace to keep the body from flopping in the wind is spiraled that way to add strength and makes it adjustable. You can put a Swedish nut lathe on it and wind in in or out, once maybe twice before it gets brittle. It's how you form car bodies. All the other farmer fixes you found are because the thing had one job, and if it broke down at the track you had to use whatever you had to make it work to get the car back home. Usually you'd use parts off the racecar and then replace the parts on the racecar with new stuff. At the end of the night you're tired, and ready to go home, so good enough to get home is good enough. The problem comes from what was good enough to get home doesn't act up again, it doesn't get changed. The high nickle blocks were and maybe still are sought after by circle track guys because they're a stronger block.
Oh man, that's brilliant!
Just good times and entertainment, flame on!!!! Love it
Your hose needs to be lower than the tank to get the gas tank emptied ... or seal the tank and pressurize it with air and it'll push the gas out👍 . Love watching
^^^this! Your compressed air method would be a good way to get the siphon action going but the hose needs to be longer and the bucket needs to be on the floor.
@@davelennie1591 yes that's why I said the hose has to lower than the tank...👍
Thanks for the tip
That gadget at the back of the hood is probably a safety catch for front end collisions it will snag the hood before it comes threw the windshield . Later on they started to put hooks on hinges to do that . Also if you want that siphon to work your outlet has to be lower than your inlet . Gravity is your friend .
I have seen many square body trucks that don't have that so it must of been special
Good Morning Mr Mortske and Duff from Alabama and Happy New Year's
Monday morning Mortske and Duff!
Best "day after Christmas extra present behind the tree" you could ask for.
Love The Duff!
Hopefully he won't shoot his eye out! 😆
There was definitely some redneck engineering going on there. Obviously, they spent all their time working on the race car and had none left to maintain the truck. Makes you wonder how successful the racing career could have been if they worked on the car in similar fashion as the truck? Mid-west things I guess!! Glad to see Duff finally doing his job wrangling the mice. Treats ain't free Duff!! Also enjoyed the tail wagging at the mention of a ride. He's a good pup. Thanks for all the content and laughs. Much continued success in the upcoming year!!
And I thought I was the first to come up with the whittled wood heater hose "connector" -- for summer use only, of course. Winter times I swapped in the copper tubing. Genius!
Happy Mortske Monday! Thanks for another great video Mr. Mortske! Have a happy new year sir. 👍🏻😎
Same to you!
Sticky steering wheels were standard on GM trucks of that era. I'm almost certain of it. Even my dad's 79 Blazer had one and he took meticulous care of it. The dash cracked really bad too, I think that was standard as well. Especially around that center area, where the mono speaker was. Good job Mort! A nice hauling rig. 👍 Hope you're having a Merry Christmas 🎄
No getting rid of sticky wheel it organic and thats bacteria eating up the wheel wrap with golfers rape replacements. Are only. Fix
My 73 C30 has the standard sticky wheel but only the spokes, the rim isn’t like that. Spokes become very sticky in summer. I have a suicide knob so don’t touch the wheel much anyway
@@patdesrosiers6423 take golfers handle wrap tape do rim and prob solved
Ok Mortske, I’ve tolerated you making fun of Cragar S/S wheels. But your unnecessary attack on Miller Lite beer was the final straw! J/k 😂
Keep up the good work. Excuse me while I mount my Cragars and drink my Miller. Haha.
I don’t think it’s the WORST Light Beer, Have one for Me Fella. More importantly, Keep It Safe Out There Sir
You're probably wearing a jean jacket while you do it!

Good morning Lord Duff good morning sir morski hope everything is well hope everybody had a good holiday now back to some good vids as always give duff some pets and loves
Happy holidays!
Looking forward to a cab over tow truck building someday👍
Me too
Maybe you could get that Oklahoma Moon-Walker to drive up there and pressure wash all those vehicles for you. At -20 degrees, every time he sprays water in the air, it would come back down on him as snow!
Brilliant!
Happy New Year! Great to have a video on this holiday day off!

I've got a old truck out back I use to drive a long time ago. I went out there to grab a part and started looking at some of my repairs.... WTF was I thinking when I did this 🤣🤣

Chevrolet Bowtie engine blocks are special-order engine blocks manufactured by the GM High Performance division. Bowtie blocks are used for racing, including NASCAR, and other high-performance applications. Available in both big and small block displacements, Bowtie blocks are manufactured with high tolerances and special machining, enabling them to withstand 600 horsepower or more. Chevrolet offers a full line of Bowtie blocks, each designed for a different purpose with individual specifications. Identifying Bowtie engine blocks requires you to locate both the bowtie casting mark and the block casting number.
You are a better man than I am. Just watching your frame inspection when you had her in the air gave me an eye twitch. I wouldn't be able to sleep till I took a pair of side cutters and a sawzall to all those little tidbits hanging off the frame.
Haha
Happy Mortske Monday!! I hope you and Duff had an awesome Christmas! This one is just a bit cobbled together, I'd love to see the race car it hauled lol!

That's one thing I love about the South. I have never replaced a hard line before. I have never needed to. You can barely even find hard lines in my area.I had a car with a rusted out floor pan come across the scale when I worked at the junkyard once, but I didn't even buy it. That is the only one I have ever seen up close.
Must be nice!
