I am doing my best here, we sang this I St Peters, Rome in 1973. I belonged to St David’s Cathedral Choir from Cardiff, S. Wales. It was a random performance but to hear the resonance of our voices around that magical Basillica was fantastic. Obviously something I have never forgotten after all these years. X
@@allanm5064 The "Regina Caeli" is a prayer with specific words. The music for this version was composed by Tomas Luis Victoria. Other versions will sound different, according to whatever their composers wrote, but the words will be the same. Regina caeli, laetare, alleluia; Quia quem meruisti portare, alleluia, Resurrexit, sicut dixit, alleluia: Ora pro nobis Deum, alleluia.
For those asking what the song is, " Regina Coeli" ("Queen of Heaven") is a prayer that replaces the Angelus during the Easter Season, starting with Easter Sunday, right up to Ascension Day.
That was sublime. I can't say enough about VOCES8: their excellence in terms of rhythm, ensemble, pitch, and utter beauty of their work is undeniable. In addition, I particularly love both their performing from memory and not using a conductor. Performing from memory removes a barrier between the performers and the audience (I realize that there are many circumstances where it's impractical to perform from memory). Conductors can prove a distraction at times, so it's nice to see a relatively small ensemble such as VOCES8 do without one.
This morning I just now made a cup of coffee. I checked to see CZcams to see what’s new from my Voces8, saw this beautiful piece and paused to listen. Glorious. This is how a day should start. Your voices together are a gift and I opened mine. Thank you.
Regina caeli, laetare, alleluia. Quia quem meruisti portare, alleluia. Resurrexit, sicut dixit, alleluia. Ora pro nobis Deum, alleluia. Gaude et laetare Virgo María, alleluia. Quia surrexit Dominus vere, alleluia.
Wow. When I was in 7th grade, my chorus sang this song for our winter concert. Idk why it just popped into my head, and I realized I've never actually heard it, only as part of the choir singing. This is beautiful. I'm glad this is the version I stumbled upon.
Surprised they didn’t think it was important enough to credit the composer in the title. Guess if you don’t know, they don’t want to bother with teaching you....
For each video description, please include: -Full name, birth and death dates of the composer, and composition date. -Full name of the work and full name of any larger work of which it is a part. -Recording date and name and location of the recording venue. Thanks!
Jesus you two people have your knickers in a twist alright. The world is full of Karens. Sigh. VOCES8 *pour* the most gorgeous music imaginable at us daily free of charge, but hey - you found a flaw to pounce on. They made your day. Bravo
Absolutely beautiful!
If to sing is to pray twice, this is praying, at least, thrice. Magnificent.

Its fantastic! Love your voices and your performance...👏❤ Thank you so much!
Thank you for this Post, and thank all the singers for this marvelous rendition of the beloved Paschaltide Marian Anthem Regina Caeli Laetare!!
This is my favorite Regina Caeli! You performed it so beautifully. Thank you for this.
Can I ask, this is the version we sing in Goa for our festivals. Is there a special name of the composer because other versions sound different.

Oh yes, beautifully controlled, the singing is rich and melodious. What is there not to like :)

Karie's rich alto voice is a wonderful and welcome addition to the already consummate tapestry of VOCES8. Bravo all!!

Beautifully done but trying desperately to find the original Regina Caeli the way it was sung before Vatican II. Can’t find it anywhere!
What do you mean? This was written hundreds of years before Vatican II
@@davidcatabui2018 That’s what I’m saying! It was written hundreds of years ago and music was put to it and I can’t seem to find it.

Not crediting composer, not cool
Not paying attention, not cool. The composer's name appears on the video at 0:04.
