No integration with Protect. Such a missed opportunity.
I agree with you !! Can’t understand why UniFi don’t have a real doorbell with access functionalities. We could be able to see the front door camera with other cameras in protect app. They just need to add that functionality to the UniFi doorbell
Now is integration with Protect:)
@@schwagerik_ Is it fully integrated now?
Ordered mine yesterday. Can't wait! Thanks for the video!
i'd love to see you test it outside cause that's a huge selling point for this reader.
I still can't believe that these functions don't exist in the g4 doorbell pro!
Ya would be cool to see it
Good video Cody, interesting looking unit !
Just to clarify, the screen tearing defect on the UApro occurs both indoors and outdoors. Speaking from personal experience.
Would be great to customise the messaging based on time of day, as well as the access response.
Nice review. Note that the Reader Pro Firmware 2.4.199 changed the camera FOV to be much more useful than the chest view we were all used to, so you should check into that and maybe post a comparison. I think the new G2 reader is still a better design, and having had 3 Pro screens ruined over the last 2 years, I'm also hoping the G2 will be more durable.
Hi Cody. Thanks for the video. Can you tell us if the NFC reading time is faster with the v1 Pro?
I am on Access Pro Reader number 3 now because of the screen tearing issue when being used outside. Really hoping this does better.
I'm looking for your video on the new intercom!! :)
Great video, can you show how the app looks like? We are using pro kit and want to install this at a car door gate. When someone rings can you does the app show the gate next to it so you can just open it or do you have to switch over to from cameras to the access app to open.
Hello, thank you for sharing this review!! Do you know if I can active the built in camera to record all the time? 24/7? Is it possible?
No fingerprint reader. No unifi protect. Missed opportunity. I'm changing back to Dahua. :(
In your next video please show us the configuration for PIN. Eg. can you assign several? also add starting/expiration dates? etc. Thanks.
Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! Those hands are screaming for help.
Thank you for looking out for me. Time to get my jergens
Does the ring have a ringer feature or does it just call a phone/mobile?
Would be nice to have a proper door bell ringer for home use as well.
Can you remove the "swipe to ring" option from the screen and just have a card or number pad reader?
Outdoor rated?
I could totally see doing this for the home if it is 😅
Nice review.
1 question though: on the old reader you could change the "SWIPE TO RING THE BELL" to just a push button.
Is this also possible on the new doorbell? Thanks
I have the same question…
An answer would be very appreciated
Is it possible to control them programmatically? For example, I could have a Raspberry Pi in my network that would send commands to open or close them based on some conditions
Nice review. I am considering the Reader G2 and G4 Doorbell models for the main entrance (outdoor). At first glance, I prefer the Access Reader G2 because it supports NFC and pin code access. However, I noticed that it might require a hub. Is it possible to connect the G2 directly to the network without a hub? I would use Shelly 1 instead of the hub. What are the differences between using it with and without a hub? Additionally, do you have any information about Unifi's plans to upgrade the Doorbell with an NFC reader?
Great video once again! Any idea if you will be able to open doors from Unifi connect displays?
I would assume so if you download the unifi access apk
Can you use any electric door strike on these or does it have to be a Ubiquiti Door Strike?
I like it. But wow what a cut out like on a aluminum frame store front you would have to get the grinder out. I usually use HID. The Signo 20 it’s surface mount The only issue is mobile access you have to pay subscription which a lot of customers don’t like.
I am recommended to use G4 doorbell Pro along with the Access Reader G2 Pro. The reason is the better doorbell quality in recordings. Maybe also that doorbell have continuous recording and face recognition. Is this correct and what you would recommend as well - to have these side by side?
Can you tell us what height you mounted the card readers at in your basement? ADA requires 48" off the ground (unless someone in a wheelchair has room turn sidways by the pad then it's 54") just wanted to know if it captured someone's face that's standing when mounted at those heights.
Can it work like a regular doorbell? Like ring a (wireless) chime inside if someone presses it?
Hi Cody!, how much is the difference between both in depth from the wall?, i have a security metal blind that protect my business door, the question is will my blind touch the new reader? Thanks
Is it possible to change the text "Slide up to ring" to custom text?
Does the intercom viewer work with the G1 reader?
You should made something like a course for beginners 🙏🏻
That's a possibility
It better be a metal bracket. I just finished the first door at work yesterday. The lite reader's brackets are so janky/weak. Also the wave doesnt apear to work in direct sunlight. Which is ok because they wont make it a scheduled feature (like wave during day cards at night) so that feature is sort of a tease anyway. Idk that i would trust a $360 shiny bit of tech outside if this ones bracket is as janky. If this system is at least stable ill be happy with it. Im kinda leary right now
Have they added an ability to lock doors with the reader yet? It was promised over a year ago. Had to uninstall this setup at clients because lack of such a basic feature
What happens if there is a power outage or network outage? Does the magnetic door stay locked or unlocked?
What is the difference between this and a standard Unify door bell unit? Why would I choose this over their doorbell camera? Thanks!
Is it possible to add the NFC card to Apple Wallet/Watch, or do you need an actual card?
I’m looking to buy one for my gate. It can be set up to come and close the gate automatically. But can it be set up to open the gate and stay open and when it’s time to close the gate, I would use again either the pin or the phone.
Are we able to use an iPhone by walking up to the access G2 Pro swiping your phone next to it and it unlocks the gate or door?
You can forsure using UID but I do not know if the NFC chip inside the iphone allows this natively
I'm working in a Unifi Door Control Access with the G2 Kit. What is the recommended device to enable two-way communication with the person in front of the door?
The G4 Doorbell pro should have some of the access functionality. Sliding doorbell, really???
Hi Cody, Will it stand up to high intense sun and heat? Or is it still rated till 40C?
That im unsure of as I have not tested
Can this be used to replace the doorbell and open zwave doorlocks using home assistant?
Awesome products...how do i find security/network installer in my area?
google would probably be your best bet
- What is the ToF sensor used for here?
- Seems like it would be easy for someone to vandalise this and just yank it off the wall (not saying they'll get in, but it doesn't seem sturdy).
- Is it possible to generate temp. pins, valid for e.g. 2 days or e.g. 1 access for guests/package delivery?
What happens below -30C? We live in Calgary, and are looking at this. What do we do in that situation?
I've got a Yale lock/handle and its accompanying keypad feels so squidgy, it's hard to tell whether you've pressed the buttons at all. I know we're supposed to buy in to the entire ecosystem, but it would be cool if this could be made to work with some other smart locks like the Yale. Any hacks?
Would be cool to use third party gear I know of no ways to do so
How do you cut the square holes on an aluminum door surround?
I use a dremel but for this install it was already cut
Can I use it outdoors?
Can anyone confirm that the same screen on this reader is the same screen on the Dream Wall?
yesssss!!!!
Can I use it as Time and Attendance management. And can i use face recognition?.
Thanks,
You can export door logs as a csv. So yeah... Just put a lite reader inside
Can you use a Access Reader Pro to send a lock command. For example, I would like a lock to stay unlocked during the day. Once the last person leaves I would like them to be able to hit “lock door” on the keypad to trigger the lock.
Wasn't there with the older access system, not sure if it got added with the new hardware
screen slider to ring is GARBAGE and worst idea ever
So.. can this be used at a residential house.. front door in place of the unit I have now on my door? Like how would this unlock the front door.. does it have a motor with it that turns the dead bolt? Also.. the sun faces my patio where this would be.. during summer easily hits 110 to 120 on the patio.. can this withstand hours of hot heat all summer long.. or going to have issues?
no fingerprint? thats insane bruh
Its not that safe with a flipper you can access it
Are you talking about the nfc cards? If you’re using the Ubiquiti cards the flipper can not access it
No mention of hand wave 👋👎
This is the second home in which czcams.com/users/postUgkx0jZ_lGlDVJhDnmagEU8gn47cmfPNlLQU we've replaced our "regular" doorbell with a Ring video doorbell and we really enjoy it. It is very easy to install and it works very well, with a clear picture through the app and good in-home use (we added the chime, which is also easy to install and doesn't require another thought to use).
Hi @mactelecomnetworks - I cannot get the g2 pro to send a notification to a phone or iPad when swiping up. Are there specific instructions for this?
