Fun fact: The plan - as mentioned in this episode at about 2:35 in the reaction - was to make the dragon use up all its fuel.
If things had gone according to plan, the fuel sack would've been completely empty.

I don't think that's how the fuel is generated, it's not actively burning up its fuel sack. It's converting the biomass into combustible gasses overtime.
It using up its fuel wouldn't affect the leftover biomass

Everyone assumed that the red dragon would behave like it normally does and go into a food coma. It was supposed to digest Falin slowly over the course of several weeks. But the dragon wasn't asleep. Its been awake and active this whole time. Its stomach and intestines were flat empty. The dragon was starving itself running around without rest.
Why though? What could have been causing a humongous dragon to freak out like this? What's worse than the dragon?
Its mate perhaps?
Are we forgeting about the existence of the evil lord in the first episode intro?!!

Yeeaah I really enjoy the word choices in the English dub as opposed to the subs. Laios is definitely more fun in English.

When I got to this point in the manga, I knew we were dealing with something truly special. Because as messed up as it is, it shows they are prepared to commit to the premise, no matter how far it takes them.
Just... the thought of the time they had to stew their feelings while excavating through the dragon... not butchering it, but tunneling and dissecting. This is a very different experience to the monster cooking.
when things get digested it releases a lot of gasses like methane and stuff, im pretty sure thats what the dragon uses as fuel and the tongue clicking sparks it and ignites it. so it breathes out the gasses released from digesting and sparks it the same way the lighter on a gas stove works.
I was more under the impression that they ate a combination of limestone and gems; using gems to grind the stones like birds with gravel and feed. Stomach acids digest the limestone, create gas, used it for fire breath or self inflate with the resulting helium to allow them to fly. Plus it made more sense when you kill a creature and it had money for some reason.
@@boiledcrap i dont know where you’re getting any of this info, laios pretty clearly says it uses digesting corpses to fuel its fire, they never even mention gems or limestone
Also if you were just referring to dragons in general theres no chance helium would help a dragon to fly at all unless the dragon inflated to the size of a building and even then they would be weighed down by all the limestone they ate in this scenario, and using that as an explanation for why you find gems on a dragon when killing it would only make it seem even weirder if you killed any other kind of enemy and found treasure on it like a skeleton or wolves or something cause they wouldnt need to eat gems

Gotta say, I came into this series hoping for some inspiration for a chef character in D&D and got more than that. I've gotten some odd stares from my fellow party members and the DM from the questions I've asked.
3 months late I know, but the manga talks a bit about how when Falin used to heal people she would also use magic to dull their sense of pain. Marcille doesn't. According to Marcille, using dulling the pain risks permanently dampening a persons sense of pain/touch. So when Marcill reattached Laios' leg and he barely reacts.... I get the feeling Falin has healed Laios a LOT

Worth keeping in mind: the reason healing magic works as resurrection magic in this dungeon is that someway, somehow, the dungeon keeps souls from passing on. Falin is still tethered to her remains because of the dungeon's magic, even if there's only bones left of her...
Resurrection is still possible.
Given that it's grown and has been more active than usual, yet lacks wings, I wonder if this dragon has been going through a life cycle change. Like entering adolescence.
this is not really a spoiler, but red dragons simply don´t have wings in this series
