I was at Raleigh in 1965 and we had to lay our kit musters on the deck ,took time to make them nice and straight but it didn't last long when a PO took one look and it seems to magical to be all over the place ,but still had a good time at Raleigh.

Not knocking how they do it now, however 60 years ago there was much more kit to lay out, including towels, sheets, pillow cases, socks, underwear (Pussers passion killers), shoes, case, Burberry, white fronts, black fronts, housewife, Number 8's, and much more. Each item had to have your name embroidered in red thread and each item folded so that the name showed. Kit was laid out on the deck on a pussers blanket. If the inspecting officer was not satisfied it was likely your kit would be scattered on the deck. Aaargh, those were the days (smile).
