Together we can rescue more weird, rare films for tomorrow. - Komedie
Based patriotism. America didn’t ask for the War but we sure as hell ended it.
War, Plague, Conquest and Death dropping the catchiest tune of WW2.
That line “Stand together today/In that old American way” is interesting, considering how these guys were only as far from the Civil War as we are now from WW2.
This song needs a remake
It’s important to view this video as a historical piece and with the important context behind it. It’s clear this song was trying to drum up American patriotism against the enemy who at the time were the Japanese, however it also should be viewed as a piece of propaganda that showed the extent of the racism and dehumanisation campaign that the American government approved against not just the Japanese government but the Japanese people and Japanese-Americans & Americans with Japanese ancestry who were placed in horrible internment camps while those with German & Italian ancestry were not.
As a whole I’m glad this is on CZcams hopefully more for education purposes than to try rouse similar opinions displayed in the song and a sense of nostalgia for this time.
Don’t overdo it. The internment camps should not have existed, but they were not horrible. Sessue I. Hayakawa, the linguist, later Senator from California, was there as a kid, and noted the chief hardship as the uprooting, not the camp conditions.
He also notes that it was only the west coast population that was moved - elsewhere, including Hawaii, was not. This was due to the perceived security risk there, partly informed by racial ill feeling, partly because of concerns about the numbers there. His work on the subject is worth reading, the conclusion was that there was some justification for internment, but not enough, making the policy a mistake.

We’ll slap the k’s right into the lap of the Russians! Should be the new version!
Slap the norks right into the lap of the Russians.
Norks are North Koreans. It sounds like an ethnic slur, but is not.
The order of the solos at the beginning are Bill Days, Ronnie Kemper (lip synching to John Rarig's voice), Thurl Ravenscroft and Max Smith.
Why use Rarigs voice? Was kemper sick?
