No not the Japanese Metalica, they are, and always have been, the Japanese Sabbath! :)
The section in the cave was especially Black Sabbath.
Ningen Isu and Band-Maid brought this 60 year old guy in a small northern Canadian town, back to enjoying music again, when I had long since given up, lol.
Welcome back friend :)
"I need to hear all of their music!" Twenty-three albums since 1987, better get busy!!
"The almighty Ningen Isu", as another reactor calls them 👍😄
They are amazing!
They have 20+ albums, listening to all their music will take a while 😀
Ningen Issu translates as Human Chair and they take their name from a horror story of the same title. I think of Heartless Scat as sort of their magnum opus. My introduction to them came with their song The Colour Out of Space. I had decided to check it out because I had read the H.P. Lovecraft short story back in the early 1970's. Coincidentally, the same time I was listening to a lot of Black Sabbath.
A 19th century literature professor, a death-touched monk, and a yakuza gangster walk into a bar...
They are known to be the Black Sabbath of Japan.
Kanami from Band-Maid went toe to toe in a shred fest on Japanese tv with this guy! It's on youtube somewhere.
the Kanami Tono vs Shinji Wajami is very entertaining....thanx for the heads up.......PRS 24 vs Gibson SG.....represented by red and blue cup puppets on a speaker....only on Japanese TV
@@noodlesnoodles1 They had a great time! Thanks 👍
Fuck Band Maid, they are late to cthe party
All of what they made? 33 albums, good luck because there's nothing to throw away, ALL is excellent.
They are dressed as a monk (possibly mute), a 19th century teacher/scholar and a Yakuza member. If you've found the magnificent Ningen Isu then you'll enjoy the mix of traditional and Metal instruments of The Wagakki Band, especially the live performance of 'Homura/Akatsuki no Ito' - czcams.com/video/ponTbDDMYjw/video.html . Prog Metal fan? Try Asterism's CHURCH live in the studio, which is astounding musically (including a 7 string bass) - czcams.com/video/pkiKSBX8JPA/video.html .
Next song to check out.... Namahage Ningen Isu was basically a band that has been around forever but was not really that "big" and was completely unknown internationally. A few years back, a reactor did a reaction of them.... which led to another reactor doing a reaction... and it snowballed. Next thing you know, this band of grandfathers who should have been on the downward trend of their careers suddenly get new life, resulting in the release of some of the best music of their careers.
Thanks to your community, I've already learned a lot about them.
"The Hu" is what lead me here.❤
You want to hear everything from them? They have just over 20 albums xD
Some songs are experimental with instrumentes like theremin (Mountains of madness), others are metal and some like "dynamite"even hardcore punk :D
If you have the choice, grab the live versions from ningen isu :)
The looks that says "We maybe old but we can still make mosh pit."
They are releasing their 23rd album later this year, so you have a lot of superb music to explore. The quality of their albums is very consistently good!
time for Ningen Isu - Namahage reaction :)
Awesome band, awesome song, and the bass line is super fun to play.
One of the best bands out there! Thank you for an exuberant reaction!
Ken-ichi Ken-ichi Ken-ichi!
人間椅子特集するなんて、スゴイね!
The name of the band, Ningen Isu, means "The Human Chair"
Not a chair made for humans, but a chair made out of humans.
Well, a very creepy short story where a guy hides himself in a sofa.
When this video got viral 2019 it make them go for their first tour overseas. So well, Buddha listen to the lyrics. They made 2 gigs in Germany and 1 in London UK. in early 2020 was heading for USA and then Covid came along.... Yest.. they have lots of records on Spotify. Don't know if it is all 22-23 records but lots of hours of greatness! Japanese band started in the 80:ies just as Ningen Isu that still plays: Shonen Knife, Show-Ya, Anthem, Loudness, Buck-Tick.... I'm sure I forgot some group but please fill the list up!
このバンドは、日本の70年代のホラードラマの雰囲気を出してくれます。
You have discovered the two best band in Japan now. Band Maid and Ningen Isu, but there are a lot of other good ones. (Glim Spanky, Aldious, Bridear, Gordon, etc). have a good one.
The OG's I think are Bow Wow, Loudness and a bunch more back in the 70's when it comes to Japanese metal, Ningen Isu came around the late 80's, at the same time as the legendary Swedish doom metal band Candlemass...Ningen Isu are one of the greatest when it comes to Doom/Stoner Metal!
Ooo Candlemass!!
It's cool that you got around to NINGEN ISU; for another good song from them, check out "Namahage".
(This is the name of a lesser demon-like entity from Japanese folklore that was said to haunt those who were lazy and shiftless.)
If you continue your Japanese rock journey🤘🤘, here are a few suggestions:
-WAGAKKI BAND: "Ignite" or "Senbonzakura"
-UNLUCKY MORPHEUS: "Black Pentagram" or "Unending Sorceress"
And there's another "classic rock" sounding band (who was an inspiration for Saki from NEMOPHILA) called
SEIKIMA-II. The best way to describe their sound (I've only recently heard of them myself) is that they're a cross between early Iron Maiden and KISS.
A couple of songs: "Fire After Fire" czcams.com/video/0e6gJ04KmBQ/video.html
"Winner!"
czcams.com/video/qMUSpyNtuk8/video.html
The stuff they did in the '80s is pretty awesome. Worth checking out.
that old punk stuff from them rocks :D
You have seen Babymetal, here is "GranddadMetal". Love Ningen Isu! Looking forward to seeing them live next time they come to the UK.
🤟👍😎 Great reaction! Found this one during the CV lockdown - absolutely love this.
Found them before Lockdown and bought a ticket immediately as they had announced a mini tour (Berlin, Bochum and London) in February 2020. A wonderful concert at the Zeche in Bochum, where I also had experienced BAND-MAID half a year before.
There's a video on youtube where Wajima talks about his pedals-which he makes himself a lot of the time. He uses batteries because wall power changes the sound and he doesn't like it. They are hardcore.
I'm still waiting for a ningen isu babymetal world tour
A must!
"boh ningen isu"
They have crossed the roads.
Well, here's a list of the bands that really influenced the current bands of Japan:
X Japan - legendary
Luna Sea - named one of Japan's 100 most important bands
Show Ya - First Major All Female Band!!
Loudness - the name sums it up!!
This is the OG of Japan metal
May I suggest Asterism - Church?
riff after riff . so much quality fiffs. godly good
One riff sounds like Bob Marley´s "I shot the sheriff" but here ten times better.
I have two of their albums- Shin Seinen 2019 which has this track on it and Kuraku 2021 (their latest I think). Both great. Shinji Wajima- Lead Guitar/Lead Vocals, Kenichi Suzuki- Bass/Vocals and Nobu Nakajima- Drums. Formed c 1982 I believe.
Hello from Japan! Your reaction got me.
If you want to try their earlier track, I recommend “Injuu”「陰獣」
Originally it was recorded in 1989, though, I prefer the re-recorded version in 2008, and released in January 2009 on an album titled 『人間椅子傑作選』
This was the sludgiest achievement of Japanese metal at that time.
I love the aesthetic of the video too. Looking down on the three of them with long shadows diagonally across the screen, for example.
Couldn't agree more!
what..i'm a die hard fan of a band called Dio..this band kicks my memory..thank you..
When i got Isu on Duolingo.. yeah i know that. :)
Grandpa Metal.
Oishi! Thanks! PEACE!!!
ningen=HUMAN
isu=CHAIR
from Japan☆

おすすめです☆
I don't think they are the Metallica/Slayer of Japan. Groups like X-Japan are much more well known and have thus put heavy music on the map. But they have been doing this for a long time, that part is true.
23 albums...
The Japanese Black Sabbath.....
You already react to the oldest three piece Japanese Metal Band, Next ASTERISM the youngest three piece Metal Band...
Ningen Isu, since 1987.
かれらの歌「薯蟲」は初期のCANDLEMASSそっくりで傑作なんだよなあああ。
