      You're never too old for metal. Christopher Lee is a good & well known example. Lemmy Kilmister dedicated his life to [hard]rock/metal until his very last breath. I'm listening to hardrock/metal it since the day Sabbath released their first album 🙂 It's under my skin and yet there is still so much to discover/experience.

    You Sir,
    reacted just like I did when I heard first this song.
    It is incredible.
    The band have a history for over 25 years,
    and have been ignored by western music rock journalism.
    Ningen Isu should have been on every major metal festival
    in the last fifteen or more years.
    This is a phenomenal song,
    but I can assure you,
    it's not a one hit wonder.
    Listen to their entire record collection and discover the sheer genius of these Japanese lads.
    MAGIC.

    These guys are great. The band name is pronounced by the members as Nin - Gen (hard g like in get) Iss (silent 'u') and means Human Chair. Taken from the title of a horror genre story. Inspired by early metal bands (like Black Sabbath) they got together some 30+ years ago. The guitar and bass players are original members.

    • @kurtn4819
      @kurtn4819 Pƙed 2 lety +1

      @@kurtn4819, I stand by my statement and was specific in that I have heard the band pronounce it as I said. And with the 's' drawn out. The video is/was on their official CZcams channel. Not saying anything regarding standard Japanese nor any of the regional dialects. So you may be right, I wouldn't know.

    • @kurtn4819
      @kurtn4819 Pƙed 2 lety +4

      @@johnschultz7765 Ok believe what you will. I lived there for 11 years. You may have heard sss because the guy got lazy when speaking. I've seen Ningen Isu in Tokyo and "sss" was definitely not the case. Sometimes when speaking Japanese people will let the last vowel sound in a word kind of deflate "IS(uu)" but it is definitely there, just very faint. Anyway it doesn't really matter. A chair is a chair by any other name.

    Can you believe this much sound from just 3 guys? Plus, they aren't singing in the common Japanese dialect--they're from a rural province with different pronunciation, and some of the syntax is from the Meiji Period of 150 years ago. They reference Shinto and Buddhist mythology and folklore, H.P. Lovecraft, and so much more. I think they might be the best, most talented metal band in existence right now--they've been honing their talent for over 30 years.
    Here's one from when Suzuki, the bass player, had long hair. He looks like pure evil, and the video is as metal as it gets.

    Edgar Allen Poe: Edogawa Rampo's short story: Ningen Isu or Human Chair.
    There are english translations of this fabulous story. It's amazing and
    you should read it. There's a movie about Edogawa Rampo called the
