- In this video, Mark shows you what can and cannot be accomplished using Final Cut Pro's tracker before showing you what's possible with mTracker 3D.

Mark is always on red, ready to rock
So close to 100K!! I'm rooting you guys on! Should be at 999,000!
Thanks Mark, this is by far the best explaination for what each tracking tool is designed for that I've seen.
Sometimes when running on the beach, I've seen that same football floating in front of me too. I'm glad to know I'm not crazy.
I’d forgotten how helpful you are. Thankyou. I’ve been spending a fair amount of time thinking about this plug-in and watching lots of the tutorials. I hadn’t figured out the relative strengths and weaknesses - so that’s useful.
Thanks for this video. I hope that you will put also some more video about the Tracker 3D
This solved sooo much confusion between these two trackers. Great tutorial!
Excellent
Love all you guys do. Thank you.
Would love to see the hack you mentioned for using objects outside of the mTracker 3D library!
This is dope! Thank you.
Great explanation. I struggle to think of a use besides for drone real estate shots where you mark off areas on land with motion.
Excellent explanation
Thanks for sharing !
Great demonstration, as usual, Mark!
Could a 3D tracker like those, be built in Motion 5, I wonder?
Thank you Mark RT rocks!!!!! 🧐 😎
Thank you!
Wow the mTracker has sooo much potential that it's completely missing out on. Back in 2012 with After Effect's camera tracker (still waiting, Apple) I could place my own graphics after the tracking had completed. It was fun just walking through the woods or whatever and putting, say, video game character spites on the trail and walking past them, even turning around and looking at them as I passed. This mTracker 3D seems to want to be used with its own assets, which is extremely limiting. Maybe if I still did corporate commercials or something.
Hi Mark, I've noticed that if you have object movement within the scene you can mask it out. so in your example, you could have masked out the cars before tracking the camera... putting a colour correction before the tracker increasing contrast usually helps too.

Next level Tracking with plugin Mtrucker, so it is more correct to indicate!
Great stuff, more please as I love this plugin and would like to see the way others use it.
Great info as always but just a heads up- your camera's focus was hitting behind your eyes and not at the front of them.
Thank you - odd because it locks on my eyes - will check next time.
Doing these tools comparisons are a great theme to explore. It might have been interesting to include Boris Continuum FCP to complete the trilogy of Point vs 3D vs Planar tracking so users know which is the best tool for the job.
You know I looked at that but as far as I could tell the Mocha planar tracker is only integrated for masking effects so you can't use it to for example do a screen replacement. Steve already did an excellent video on the free version which you can watch here: czcams.com/video/mfCW8oqzILo/video.html
I need to do a deep dive on the planar tracking possibilities in FCP as it relates to screen replacements because as far as I can see there is no good solution out there outside of using Resolve. Do any of you know of solutions?
@@markspencer1203 Coremelt SliceX (and TrackX) maybe. Uses licensed Mocha technology I understand.
Wow it costs more that Final Cut Pro itself. Can we not do all of this in Motion?
No - Motion does not have a planar tracker
Blink if you’re ok
