That utility knife is a box cutter! You're not supposed to push or cut sideways with it! It's meant to be pulled for opening up boxes! And it snaps back for safety when you're done making a cut in a box! And that dowl maker tool You're using wrong! I got one just like that one from temu and it works great! You use square wood stock to make round dowels and it works great!

For the plug cutters, drill a hole in a piece of wood the same diameter as the cutter.
Clamp that piece of wood on top of the wood you want to cut the plugs out of. Place the cutter in the hole and it will act as a guide and stop the plug cutter from wandering around. Hope that makes sense

I have the same miter guage. The extra "washers" for the miter guage are to be mounted under the guide rail to help keep it in the track. Thats what the extra holes are for in the rail, and if yours is the same as mine the rail has recesses so the guide wheels or washers will sit flush. Some people dont like using them because it prevents you from lifting the guage straight up and out of the track. I like them, it helps prevent the miter guage from falling if you pull it back a little too far to where the fence is off the table. Hope that helps

Would be nice to know if the miter gauge (it's not a fence) is square to the table saw slot, and whether it's adjustable if not), and if the angles for the stops are accurate.

a 12 point socket can fit a cut square piece of wood... you need to chamfer the end of the dowel-blank so it can fit into the hole for the size you are cutting.

The same exact bits that were shown, I have used them multiple times with my drill press, I had to slow it down to stop it from burning, I have purchased many tools and other items from Temu and when you decide to do a return they refund and let you decide what to do with the return, I have only had to return one item that I asked for a refund for and have a box full of stuff that they said to keep.

Doweling works better with the grain. long grain is stronger and youre more or less making a circular rip cut, which will be smoother.

  • @royruther4895

well, if you had a lathe, you could turn down the end... but if you had a lathe, you would just use it to make the whole dowel. Low grade router bits are never good. They call it a miter fence, because it lets you do cross cuts like you would do on a miter saw. And that miter fence actually looks pretty good for the price. I would have liked to see if it has angle marking and if those marking are accurate.

If my comment came across as aggressive and harsh it was meant to be. You are using tools and equipment, that when used wrong, WILL cause life altering injuries. People ignore nice suggestions and comments but pay attention to mean or aggressiveness. You seem like a nice kid, however, you said "roast me for being lazy" and roast you we must. DON'T YOU EVER USE ANOTHER TOOL OR PEICE OF EQUIPMENT WITHOUT RESEARCHING HOW IT WORKS FIRST!!!! I have seen severed limb injuries because of carelessness, bandsaw blade injuries to the face because they guy did not use it properly and completely mangled fingers from an IMPROPERLY USING A BIT FOR SOMETHING IT WASNT MEANT FOR. SON, your young and your new. Please be more careful and always do your DUE DILIGENCE when using equipment. I hope you learn something from this and never give up, only improve as you are more the capable of doing.
