    Thank you for this! I have to build one for my physics lab and I didn't even know where to begin! I'll definitely be checking out that website, you're a life saver!

    Our young men’s group made it! Will post an update when we shoot it. Gotta do the sling and it’s ready to fire!

    this is awesome! We built a trebuchet as well but I like how you actually went into detail and explained the math of it and more of the physics behind how they work. We went full caveman and just showed us throwing stuff with it lol.

      Yours looks really authentic! I should have thrown fruits and vegetables with mine too, that's a good idea

    use a chain link fence post. You'll need to use a 2x6 for the arm as well. That should fix your bending problem
    Nice trebuchet :-)

    I've built ALL kinds of stuff... but never a trébuchet. I've made potato cannons, rc airplanes from scratch, 3D printed quadcipters, etc... never even thought of this! XD nice job homie

    Hello, nice trebuchet! Enjoyed watching three trebuchet's launching 1 gallon water filled milk jugs and water bottles today at the local renaissance festival. One warning is using construction screws and deck screws to hold your lumber together is a big NO NO! Neither type of screw is able to safely withstand the torsion and sheer pressures being produced. Use only structural screws to build with as they are made to withstand such loads safely. You will have to search for the structural screws yourself as most store employees have no idea that there is a difference. If they are structural screws they will say so on the package, just make sure and be safe. Hope that helps.

    I'm planning to make a trebuchet for my AP Physics final project and this was the perfect video. Can you explain why the rod bent and how to make sure that doesn't happen? Thanks

    • @Zaplethal
      @Zaplethal  Před 4 lety

      A larger metal rod (preferably something other than mild) and the blocks I used leading from the vertical frame to the lever need to be screwed together and without spacing between them so that they lay as one solid piece between the vertical frame and lever, not allowing the rod to bend.

    You have successfully confused Ojichan. Would a water balloon survive the launch until it hits the ground?

    • @Zaplethal

      Marsha Adams I would assume that it could launch a water balloon 😊

      Discoboy I made my short arm 1.75' and long arm 6.25'

      Also where are the holes on each arm? Sorry for all the question btw doing a school project

    • @Zaplethal
      @Zaplethal  Před 6 lety +1

      Due to the wood i was working with i placed the holes about .5 inches form the end of the 2X4s.
