You could cut off a bulb connector, and mount that to the base as well as leaving the plastic bits on the bulbs. This would mean that the cables would not need to be twisted and taped, you could just insert a new bulb.
When it launches it sounds so cool

LightningShock its ICBM..Inter Continental Ballistic Missile...that's nuclear i guess... antimatter missile as of now is not possible as the name suggests antimatter so if it comes in contact with matter i will go boom and it could only be produced in LHC but even then it only survives for very short span of time...

Another way to expose the filament is to heat the tip of the bulb with a lighter for a few seconds, then quickly dip the tip in a bowl of water :)
Grant....you should try putting a bit of black powder at the end of the rockets to see whether it explodes after the rocket fuel burns!!!

High temperature spray paint is available also. In the auto parts store it is used for painting muffler parts (range up to 500 degrees and super high temp to about 1200 degrees). You can get the same paint at home centers available for painting your old BBQ grills.
