The Inventables X-carve sure opens the door to making your designs come to life. In this video, I use Fusion360 to design a trebuchet and then I export the Gcode to Easel to cut out the pieces on my X-carve. Don't have a CNC? No problem! I show you how you can make one using ordinary tools as well. With the trebuchets together, I created a fun yard game using them to knock down castle targets made from stacked up pop cans. If you'd like to build this for yourself, you'll find step-by-step plans with printable templates available on my website. Thanks for watching!
Want the Fusion360 design file or the Easel Gcode? I have them available here: tinyurl.com/y67cgr9c

Really great mixture of automated tools versus hand/power tools. You never fail to impress my brother. I mean honestly who builds two trebuchets To play what looks to be a makeshift a game of corn hole in the backyard. I’ll tell you who, Drew is Who. And it’s awesome
Haha, thanks Chris! :)
Glad your brother is impressed! :-)
u tellem c hris
I always appreciate it when you not only show how to do something with the CNC, but also with traditional tools. Great video!
I REALLY enjoy the “just because it drives some of you nuts” comment. Well done! 😆🤣
Nicely done on trebuchet too.
"... but, I didn't necessarily want this thing to throw the tennis ball into the neighboring county." 🤣🤣🤣
Your narrating is hilarious...... Love the project too!!!! Keep them videos coming!!!! I love watching ur videos.....
As shown in your first outtake, the cnc will do EXACTLY what you tell it to do. If you accidentally tell it to destroy itself, it'll merrily go about doing that. Thanks much for the information and the humor. Thumbs up to crush a troll.
The village I life in has this tradition of lighting a pile of wood on fire by launching literal fireballs at it using a trebuchet
It throws over 1 1/2 football fields and multiple trees
Really epic stuff
Awesome that you take the time to show us both ways to built the project
Loved that shifty-eyed look just before you tested it inside your shop. xD
😁
Excellent!
Nice and fun project and I am sure your children loved it not to mention they are now the invey of all their friends. Cool dad!
I don't have any kids around but know it would be a huge hit for those who do. I enjoyed watching the video just to listen to your great sense of humor! Also loved your ingenious way to make round dowels without a lathe!
Fun stuff!
This is hilarious and beautiful. Cheers you amazing engineer! Luckiest children ever
Thanks! :)
Great project! Looks super fun! My favorite part was seeing you deform those lead weights - very satisfying to see it slip into the box1
Yeah, it was awesome especially since I was totally exhausted at that time. haha
This is amazing, simple as that. Definitely going to be picking up these plans to make them for my kids. Thank you for doing this with the jigsaw too, as there's no way I'll be investing in an x-carve any time soon and I can't wait to get in the shop and get these made!
I have watched all of your videos. Love your sense of humour and narration. Keep going man ❤
Brilliant
What a fun project!! Thank you for sharing!
I like how sometimes with his projects that use more complex tool he does a second one with simple tools for other people
Trebuchet=best anti zombie weapon in the war against the undead 😜👌
Glad you could get some plywood from your neighbor, even if they were unaware. Ha ha. Too cool that you were able to find those big lead weights! This project turned out so cool, Drew! And making a yard game out of it just tops it off.
Hey I am doing a high school project and you helped us immensely! Thanks!
Love your work, love your narration, love your jokes. Also your channel is the only woodworking channel my wife will put up with me watching... not sure if its your superior siege engines or just you....
That looks great and a lot of fun....I would love to try this. thanx
Your videos are always a delight
Thank you
Awesome project! My kids will love it! Litterally right after watching your video I went and purchased the plans!
Awesome.
Awesome! Love all your videos and can’t wait for the next one!
Yes! Great video 👍 I have always wanted to build a small one like this for my boy as well. Guess I need to get to it! Thanks for sharing!👍
What a super fun project!
Great project and even better sense of humor!
Excellent video and process
Thank you for sharing
Something different and fun aannnnnnnnd always great humor. Dont miss this one.
You seem like a really good dad. Thanks for the videos. Also, it looks like you built a tennis ball launcher for that dog. Once it's loaded up, all you have to do is teach it how pull that string.
Looks like a great game, might have to see about making a set!
Looks awesome! Makes me want an Xcarve more and more.....
Great video! Loved the flat head screw! 😂😂
Another wonderful woodwork and a great inspiration for me and my projects. Many greetings from Andy
Sweet. I have always loved the trebuchet.
COOLEST. PROJECT. EVER. And fricken hilarious!!! Well done!
I've seen a few of your videos now, and its the little details that i would never have thought of, ie in this video using your jigsaw to nibble away the square holes is just a great tip.... thanks and keep up the good work...
Glad it was helpful!
GREAT WORK AND AS ALWAYS COMENTARY AND BLOOPERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
again a wonderful wooden work and a wonderful inspiration for me and all the handicraft of friends. Greetings from Andy from Germany
Thanks Andy
What a good idea. Many local 13th century castles so would suit me well lol.
Thanks again for the inspiration
What a cool project!
Very cool project! Well done! Makes me want to build a few too
That’s just too cool. Well done.
So much fun and so cool, Drew! Also, what a great makeshift drill lathe!
Thanks Ethan!
really nice work. Love the toys for you and your son. Cool move.
I had a blast with mine
And you crack me up...! Awesome talent!
Great side-by-side build and a novel project to be sure. Just had my first play on a HUGE X-carve at the local Makers-Space and can see a world of possibility there.
That's freaking awesome, Drew! Think I'm going to make this one for the fall family get togethers.
Once again thank you for showing both ways to make this project as I am not a fan of CnC I personally dont like computers in my woodshop. Thank you for sharing.
Great job!!
Nice work getting the pouch to release in a predictable snag free motion. The hard part of any trebuchet is that sling release. Kudos.
Some times I dream your my dad. Keep up the good work dad.
Now this is a cool project. Like that you built two, and one with power tools, and one with the X-Carve. I made a minnie version a while back ago, and it was great fun to build, and play with. Thanks for sharing your great projects.
Thanks! Glad you liked it
This is awesome!!!
Awesome project! And I NEVER get tired of your humor (and the outtakes are gold 🤣).
If you ever get tired of knocking down the walls, swap out the tennis ball for a beanbag, and cornhole boards!
Thanks! Glad you liked it
Awesome video I've always wanted medieval yard darts
Mini pumpkin chunkin
Wonderful video!! Your a good Dad ...
I love this channel! Your such an awesome person and builder
Love your show keep up the good work.
Great video and build Drew, looks like you had some fun making it and playing with the kids in the garden, oh and don't forget your ammo pincher ha ha ha.
Barry (ENG)
What a great build! I really do love your videos👍
That is Awesome!!
Thanks great build and video
Awesome lights on your drill!
I found a new favorite woodworking channel
A have no kids, no garden and no tennisball and i still love your video's :)
That. Is. Awesome!
Your videos are the best, great work mixed with humor
Awesome
This has true potential to cause chaos in snow
Trebuchets are great! I helped my son make one for 8th grade science class. It launched a golf ball out of one parking lot into another, hit the
principal’s car and set off the car alarm! 1st place!
Lucky kids, love your humor, great build.
protip!! if you turn the opening thingy on the can cans and turn them around beackwards it will keep what ever you put in them to weight them down in the can
Brilliant, wish I had one, endless possibilities, not enough room in our tiny British gardens though.
That looks like a total blast! What a great idea. Would be worth building a 2x4 brick castle and attacking it together.
I've been watching your vids for awhile..this one won a subscription!
Nice 👍
Nice idea for the kids to play with. Ps love the out takes
Awesome! You should let the elementary school borrow it for Renaissance Day! Thank you for the Outtakes, NICE to know I'm not the only one it takes more than once to get right.
I got to a certain point in the video, and was about to order an X-Carve, but then you went and spoiled it by showing how to cut the pieces by hand. Drats, foiled again. I think my grandkids would love to have a trebuchet shootout in our backyard!
I love this guy. I think we share the same view on life.
Man, if I only hadn't wasted all that money ten years ago on LASIK at the Ophthalmologist's, like a chump!
“I’m not sure he was planning to remodel his bathroom, but I needed the plywood.” And with that, I need a new keyboard! hahaha
your bloopers are gold lol
That's fancy. I built one a while back that is way less refined. Nice job.
Fully expected to see a flaming tennis ball launched. Love your videos
Good fun :)
Great project and and what a way to make something that with supervision your kids could help make alsoand that the kids don't have to be in front of the video games all the time to have fun keep up the good work
Ok so i'm sold. I have been wanting to make something like this for years. I think after watching this i may have to make a few as....yard games... yeah thats why I'm making them yard games.
Cool kid fun project, fresh air and a good time. Let us know how the eggs go, crappy screws and all! LOL Thanks for sharing! :)
Adapt for water balloons, make 8 more of them, get 10 kids and setup a Trebuchet dodge ball water balloon battle for the neighborhood kids!!! You'll need 10 kids so they have enough strength to safely carry you into the sunset on their shoulders as they declare you their king of backyard fun!
Not convinced a water balloon would survive the acceleration of the launch. ...
The X Carve really is something
