  • @nadjanordingroning2758
    @nadjanordingroning2758 Před 4 lety +147

    Yes, I'm Swedish but omg come of it! It's getting really old seeing the half-assed UK songs in the final especially when many countries really try and send great songs but don't even qualify. Sweden loves ESC and have many talented producers and artists, that's why we "try hard" both on our own songs and when hosting.
    And why don't you complain about Europe instead, that continually votes for Swedish entries and hires Swedish teams/writers to "over"-produce their own songs i.e. Russia (2011, 2013-2016), Cyprus (2016-2019), Azerbaijan (2010-2019), Netherlands (2013, 2015, 2019) and Bulgaria (2016-2018). Many of these scored very high, in my opinion partially, because they were well produced, they don't get hate like Sweden does.
    UK should take notes from countries like Australia, Moldova, Ukraine, Armenia and Italy (and, in my opinion, Sweden) that actually tries to send good stuff. Sure I think it would be fun to send something different to ESC, but I don't blame the Swedish people for voting on something they (and Europe) like in Melodifestivalen and something they think would do good in ESC.

    • @jullee9908
      @jullee9908 Před 4 lety +7

      SK Z You know that in Swedens NF, we have national juries from other countries in Europe(just like in Eurovision) to vote on what they think is the best. That is one reason why Sweden’s songs gets so many points. For example: John Lundvik got all the 12 points and got a good result in Eurovision by the juries. Robin Bengtsson was actually chosen by the juries instead of Sweden’s personally choice which was a guy named Nano.
      Another reason why Sweden gets many points by the jury is because Sweden is one of the best countries in the music industry! If you think about it, most of Eurovision songs has a Swedish producer in it.
      I think people are just jealous because Sweden always serves quality and gets the reward from the juries. I hope Sweden gets a better televote this year!

      Of course, sending a potentially successful commercial sounding song isn't prohibited. It's just that some viewers and fans are getting tired of these songs getting way more points than some songs that has more to offer in terms of originality, ethnicity and vocal aspects (for example Greece or Albania this year). Well idk but please, at least send something in Swedish (or any other language native to Sweden) for crying out loud!
      I don't dislike Sweden in ESC. I just think they should spice things up a bit more and juries should know that it's not just Sweden that creates quality music in Europe (let's remember that many countries send entries of similar quality and vibe to Sweden's year after year, just to end up NQ or in the bottom 5 of the final). It sounds like some of the other countries supporter getting a bit jealous of Sweden's success, doesn't it?! LOL!
    To me (a swede) I really liked the last one. John Lundvik - Too Late For Love. It was one of our best song in my mind. The winner if the song wasn't from Sweden. The jealousy from the people in other countries toward Sweden's period of success after success took that away from him. Said really. (Leave a stain on the competition, really.)
    A tacky move if you ask me. Vote for the best song and live your jealousy (well) somewhere else during the competition.
    People, just so everybody know. We don't want to win this often. We just want to put on a good show. (Like it or dislike it, that's fine, just don't vote against a song just because it's from Sweden.)This type of protest destroy the competition in the long run. It's said to see this reaction. (The song was to good for that.)
    To all the jealous people out there who think they doing a good thing.
    Just remember that Sweden have produced almost every single final the last ten years do to the fact that every other country seems to think that we does this best. We have produced or written between 10-30 % of the songs in every final the last couple of years. (Quite a few winner from outer countries.)
    If we start to feel that this competition is to unfair, we just might start´s to fall out of love from the whole thing... Guess what happen then? We just might decide to do something else. (Our music industry don't need the Eurovision - Our own national competition gives us all we need.)
    Sometime people can benefit from knowing who we are. So listen; The main feature of a Swede is probably our sense and need for fairness. (That's why we are a country where everybody stand in line and politely wait for our turn and so on.)
    That's a huge part of us. (Corruption is almost unheard of in Sweden.) Try that and you lose every chance to make a deal here.
    That's why this type of demonstrations toward Sweden (if they continue 4-5 years in the future) might make us leave the scene althougheter) The win is so unimportant We just want party and that can't happen for us if we feel Europe is unfair in their judgement towards our artist just because they are from Sweden.) Do you really want that?! A Eurovision where Sweden opt out?! Really? Well then just keep this up. I promise your wish will come true
    With that said. I do understand if you get tired of the same country in the top year after year, but really. We spend several month with our semifinals until we get the top ten songs in our country followed by a big final. The final it's just as big as the Eurovision final. Do you really think this going to give us really bad songs most of the time or does it give us really good songs who have a decent chance of ending up among the top ten?!

    • @gavincurtis9758
      @gavincurtis9758 Před 3 lety +1

      I agree with some of what you said. But don't talk about fairness, cuz yous finish in the top ten basically every year. The public do vote for yous but its just not in the quantities that the juries give you so it seems less. Like when Ireland got 62 points from the public in 2018 I was fuckin delighted. Yet when John Lundvik got 93 points he looked like a child who had just been told they have to go bed on their birthday. So please, don't throw a tantrum because people are voicing their opinions, and just be grateful that you country does well every year

    • @ExbotHero
      @ExbotHero Před 3 lety +1

      @@gavincurtis9758 Well, I am, but to be honest. I really don't care about the competition, I just want it to be fair. I'm actually more interested in seeing the show (different countries contribution)
      Most of the time I don't like the winning song from Sweden (I prefer one of the other ones who lost in the Swedish completion (Melodifestivalen) In the finale I hope for a good place for Sweden but vote for the best song. (Perhaps one time out of ten I think the Swedish one was best.) Okay?!
      All the best my friend. 👍

    What a lot of people don't get about eurovision in general, is that staging nowadays is essential to winning or doing well.
    Like it or not if you don't have APPROPRIATE staging, not overdown but not boring either, you will end up failing.
    Sweden is a master at staging. They elevate mediocre numbers and supporte great ones.
    People saying they send the same thing every year don't realise, that they practically send different songs every time.
    They make an effort every year, more so than any other country, and for that they should be rewarded.

    I'm a Swede, so I'm biased. There are some songs which I think should have done better, and some I don't think we should have sent. F.ex. Anna 2010: I loved her song and I think it deserved to qualify, but it didn't. She got so much hate for not qualifying and disappeared from the Swedish music scene for several years.
    On the other side, I wasn't much of a fan of Robin's "You" (2013) nor Frans' "Sorry" (2016). They're both decent songs, but there were other songs those years who I thought should have represented us instead. A lot of people were angry at the result of the Swedish outtakes in 2013, because Robin was the jury favorite but not the televote favorite. Some people think we should remove the jury (it's a jury of other Eurovision countries), but it's also good we have some outside opinions. I'm not sure where I stand on the subject.

      Imo, outside opinions isn't bad but it would be nice if they stayed as such. There have been plenty of times that the jury have affected the results a bit too much imo. Keeping the jury but lessening their power would be how I'd like it.

      Sorry but the real winner in the Melfest was Keep of walking by Salem Al Fakir, We can work it out by Andreas Johnson or Manboy by Eric Saade. This is my life was a rehash of the two errors called Hero by Charlotte Perrelli and La Voix by Malena Ernman

    People don’t seem to like Sweden as much anymore 😔, I definitely don’t remember such harsh criticism for Sweden in the past. We don’t get any points from the tele-votes either, only lots of jury points for the polished quality performances 🙃

      "Don´t get any points"... We got 93 televote points last year, which is better than 32 other countries in the televotes.

    2010: such a masterpiece, she was robbed 8/10
    2011: performance made the song, not the other way around :(( 6/10
    2012: amazing, but not the best esc song ever like most say 9/10
    2013: SO UNDERRATED 10/10
    2014: masterpiece, she got a deserved place though 10/10
    2015: never really liked it much 6/10
    2016: their worst this decade 4/10
    2017: enjoyable, but his melfest song from 2016 (constellation prize) was much much better 9/10
    2018: i wish he had came somewhere between like 15th and 10th, 7th was just a tad overrated 7/10
    2019: i never understood the hype really but it was quite enjoyable and also it annoys me how everyone thinks he flopped in the televote bc he got 93 which didn’t seem like a lot compared to the ~250 needed, but in reality he got 9th in the televote 💀 8/10
    overall, sweden are pretty good in eurovision. they’re not the best, but sometimes people are too harsh.

    🤪 This is ridiculous. May the best song win. Go GB or Azerbajdzjan or Sweden or Germany or......vote, vote, vote. That's how we do in Sweden.
    Go Mello🎶😃🇸🇪
