I totally agree with you guys about Sweden and our choice of music in Eurovision. It’s like this:
Sweden: sends generic pop music
The Viewers: *gives us all the votes*
Also the Viewers: ”ugh... send something different, stop sending the same type of music every year”
Sweden: sneds something different
The Viewers: ”this sucks”
*WHAT DO YOU PEOPLE WANT FROM US !? WHAT THE HECK ARE WE SUPPOSED TO DO?*
It's kinda funny that everyone nags on Sweden for sending "the same pop song every year" but this is proof enough. When Sweden is trying to send something different, it's never rewarded (2007 and 2009 is proof of that).

People: Complain it's not a good song.
Sweden: Sends same cheesy pop that's worked before.
People: Complain it's nothing new/original.
Everybody should take a good look at the quality of the songs their own countries are sending instead.

I really did enjoy La Voix, but honestly believed "stay The Night" should have gone to ESC... Of course, the Russians' heads would ahve collectively exploded from the sheer GAYNESS of it, but I really believe it would have killed in the final.

People liking 'Las Vegas' over 'It Hurts'... I can't.. Lena was amazing in 2004. Wish she had sung in Swedish. Det gör ont is up to this day one of the best Swedish entries.
The moments when we sent entries that were out there and not 100% pop we do poorly and now people want us to do something that is unique cuz they don't like the pop. Can you blame us for sending pop when we only get punished for going a bit more unique?
You can be unique and be good at the same time. You have to clash both things to be more interesting in Eurovision again. You cannot just be unique ('00s) or good ('10s). You gotta be both. :-)

Send us a modern pop song in Swedish that is well executed like you always have done in the past decade and then we'll talk.
The Swedes will continue to vote for the song they like the most and not care about the viewers/audience in ESC.

2000 and 2004 should really be listened to in the original Swedish, so much better. Also, The Ark that competed in 2007 has a really big career behind them, this is not one of their best songs, check out Prayer for the weekend, Absolutely no decorum, Calleth you cometh I, It takes a fool to remain sane, Clammour for glamour, Little dysfunk you or Tell me this night is over for instance. Last song has been covered by Carola btw.

Sweden's flop in the late 00's was probably because schlager was getting dated at this time and it reflected in the voting (and now even in Melfest this genre doesn't do too well)
Although I'll never understand how they didn't qualify in 2010, Anna Bergendahl was robbed
Worrying kind with The Ark and La Voix with Malena Ernman were not schlagersongs but the songs didn´t work anyway even if they did go to the final but this is the taste of music that exist in Sweden that is not typical songs for the hardcore fans of ESC

-To answer Miceal's question: Sweden was a jury wildcard that year.
2008 was the last year that the televote was solely used in the voting while juries were slowly being brought back. In this particular year, Charlotte Pirelli placed outside of the televote top 10 in her semifinal, placing 12th. However, the 10th finalist slot was reserved for the country who fared better in the jury voting and Sweden did well on that department than Macedonia (Tamara Todevksa) who placed tenth by the public vote. It's eventual low placement in the final likely indicated that this wasn't worthy of being top 10 by the viewers.

I've looked at a lot of your videos now and I'm so happy I found you. I wish I found you earlier cause there are so much happiness and positive vibes, comments and just not any hatfulness at all. I am so tired of that.... I really LOVE Eurovision but everywhere you go on the internet you always se so much hate. I'm so tired of it, and it makes me so sad when I'm on different forum discussing ESC, cause I can't handle all this hate. But FINALLY I have found you. And I love you. some years the entries winning the public vote is something a bit more different and interesting, but the jury voted for something more commercial and when putting the votes together the more commercial entries won instead

Lena Philipsson was robbed in 2004, the song didn't work in english though. And Malena was robbed too! She was fab!

It is so fun that you guys now say that we should send more like Roger Pontare's song when that song didn't do so well in ESC. I thnk it is a great song! I was so mad at Europe back then for having bad taste! ESC 2000 was so frustrating! Pontare got much less points than I think it deserved and Brainstorm did't win! And to top it off DK won! Olsen brothers... how that song beat Brainstorm I still can't understand!
Charlotte Perelli is not Benjamin Ingrossos "aunty". She is a friend of his Mother.
In 2003 Charlotte Nilsson married Nicola Ingrosso. When they married they took his mother´s maiden name Perelli. Nicola Ingrosso is one of the brothers of Emilio Ingrosso.
Emilio Ingrosso is Benjamin Ingrosso´s father. So she was indeed Benjamin Ingrosso´s aunt until Charlotte and Nicola divorced in 2008.

React to sweden in the 90s
Many great songs in this decade (2000-2009). I also think that it is weird that when Sweden sends something original and "non-plastic" it fails in the end (except the legend Roger Pontare). But oh well, we can always be sure to expect quality from them (also, 2004,2005 and 2007 I personally didn't like).
P.S. 2009 was robbed AF - should be top 10 or 15 :)

Sweden and Eurovision are a match made in heaven. The only one from the 00's I don't like is 2005.

5th place 2001 is exactly a copy of Belgium 1996. Only a little bit faster, should have been disqualified!
Charlotte Perelli robbed Sanna Nielsen of the victory in 2008... 😪 Sanna's song "Empty room" was much much better than "Hero", but the international jury ruined everything again. At least Sanna got to compete and did well at Eurovision in 2014... 👍
Malena & Charlotte should have been top 5, Carola should have won by a mile, Nanne should have won Melodifestivalen over Martin in 2005 she was ROBBED as was Kikki, Bettan & Lotta in Melodifestivalen 2002 0ver Afro-Dite.

With the exceptions of 2000, 2007 and even 2009, many of Sweden's entries in the noughties did not have that evergreen quality. They severely aged badly over the years.
Unpopular opinion: 2007's entry was the best actually.
I don't get why Sweden is so obsessed with sending cheesy, outdated, and cringy pop songs? I'm not surprised in the slightest that The Ark, Charlotte Perelli and Malena Ernman ended up in the bottom 10.
You know since Sweden mostly sent the "same sounding modern pop songs" the last decade, them sending something outdated and cheesy would actually be refreshing now imo lol.
