  • Subsequent to the Abramovich Affair, the Portuguese nationality law offering citizenship to people of Sephardic ancestry was subject to national debate. Several amendments were proposed, and President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa applied his presidential veto. On February 24, the President approved changes to the Nationality Law made by the country's parliament. This meeting will review the changes and consequences.

I went through the video hoping to find an answer as to why the court considered the amendment to be constitutional and whether there's any hope whatsoever of it being vetoed \ annulled at this stage. Do you happen to have another video or something on that subject?

Hello, I'm hoping someone can help give me a steer with this: I am descended from Sephadic jews who came to London in the late 17th century (the first recorded marriage was at Bevis Marks in 1690's). The family history is that the family came from Portugal to London. Our surname was Fernandes and much more recently, morphed to Fernandez. I am looking at the different options for obtaining Portuguese nationality. Is there someone in the Sephadic community who may be happy to speak with me who has experience with this?
