I must say, as an 48 years old Finn woman, I found Nightwish last November when I whatched some reaction from youtube, and just as you, I’m so lucky to find this music in my live. And I’m still in shock that this amazing band comes from Finland! I have known songs like Nemo and Elan etc but these slictly more complicated songs I have never heard before. And these are just amazing! I was lucky to saw Nightwish in Kitee 19.6 just before they took they brake. That was an experiese that I will allways cherish ❤️.
And Kitee is a small town in Finland where Tuomas is born and still lives so it is special place to him and all the Nightwish fans.

67 years old Dutch male, ex sound engineer for 20 years, done music DVD production and only three months ago stumbled across Floor Jansen and Nightwish. Where have I been? I was fixed on instrumental music. Run away when someone tried to sing....untill.....my God.....Nightwish and Floor changed everything. They make me feel joyful and energize me every single time. Life expectation stretcht with 10 years at least 😉. I can only hope in 200 years they will still be remembered and honered like Beethoven, Bach and the rest of that lot. They deserve that!!!
I am 60 and in the same status as you, as are most people who get exposed exposed to Nightwish's music. I also got exposed to them over a CZcams reaction during the Covid period and was totally blown away. I went and watch them six weeks ago in Gelsenkirchen, Germany with Floor seven months pregnant. We flew all the way from South Africa which was not a cheap exercise but was worth every penny. It was a near Devine experience
This May we’ll be my favorite Nightwish performance!! No words - Floor & Marko killing to vocals, Marko’s baseplay is always insane, Emppu is such a MASTER, Jukka is beyond BAD-ASS and Thomas is beyond words (out if this Universe)!

I keep saying that this is one of my three favorite songs. But, then I realize that the last song I listen to is always my third favorite song. First two never change "Song of Myself" and "Endlessness." I think I'll just lump all the rest of the Nightwish catalog into "my third favorite song."
Nightwish is one of the greatest live bands in the World, And the saddest fact of it all is, is that most people never heard of Nightwish just because their genre is metal. And Metal is voor 90% of the World just noise and screaming while a lot of the Metal is highly sensitive and intelligently composed. Very sad that in all that time it still hasn't really changed I have been a Metalhead for a bit more then 40 years and I'm 50.

You are in a unique position to spread the word on your side of the pond. For too long the American people have been deprived of Nightwish.

Despite the fact that EVERY Nightwish song is phenomenal, Ghost River is just so catchy and stellar that it is my favorite, except all Nightwish songs are my favorite! They just do everything so incredibly well, you are right, there just aren’t enough words to describe just how exceptional Nightwish is.
So cool to see you fall under their spell, just as caught as the rest of us are in the magic that is Nightwish.

You need to be introduced to Troy, the sixth member of the band and their multi-instrumentalist. The joke is: it's easier to list the instruments he doesn't play. He also sings and in some songs they have three part harmonies going. "My Walden" at a sold out Wembley Arena is proibably the best intro to Troy: czcams.com/video/knqeI807ZlY/video.html
Some of the cool parts of the song are: Troy opening by singing in Welsh, a brief bagpipe vs. guitar battle, Marko and the "Beast", and Floor messing about vocally, briefly sounding like a baritone for a couple of notes.
Oh ya, forgot to say that the entire song is Celtic folk metal.
As for the crowd surfers, it was indeed the best way to get to the restrooms. There was a crowd of eighty-two thousand fans crushing in.
Just got to hope the crowd surfer didn't leave it too late before deciding to go...

Our Metal Mozart Tuomas Holopainen (founder, leader, keyboardist and songwriter of Nightwish) is the main composer for Nightwish.
Tuomas the keyboardist writes about 95% of Nightwish songs, music and lyrics. He also composes the music for the backing track they use. It is recorded in London with musicians from The London Philharmonics. Pip Williams helps with the orchestration. There are two London based choirs too on the backing track, the other one is a children's choir. And of course with a synth you can do a lot.
This song is from "Imaginaerum" (the seventh studio album from Anette era).
Marko has great menacing tone here , and Floor Growls ( only few will notes this ). Plus , this song has a crazy Van Halen Vibe to it ( Van Halen - Aint Talkin' Bout Love comes to mind ).
This song took me several listens and deep dive at first , and now I listen this song daily . Love this song !!!

Right there with you! I have listened to Nightwish for a few years. Love new followers! It’s like finding them for the first time.
It's not just her voice alone, Floor is a hypersensitive woman ( a real woman, who can get very pregnant and still kicks ass) she doesn't only sing lyrics she feels the emotions
hidden in the lyrics and knows somehow to expres them when she is singing just with her voice.
And that makes grown man cry.
These musicians play for the music, not to showcase their skills. Tuomas keeps in mind their abilities when he writes his music.
Great reaction!! Although he was not on stage during this song, don't forget Troy Donockley (the only Brit in the group) who became a full time band member at the same time as Floor (around the time of this Wacken performance). As a multi-instrumentalist, Troy added a whole new dimension to the band. Not only is Troy an incredible guitarist (acoustic and electric), he is also a world-renowned player of Irish Uilleann pipes. Troy also plays a variety of whistles and bouzouki (a type of lute). If you want to react to some Nightwish songs that feature Troy, I highly recommend "My Walden" (Wembley 2015 concert); "While Your Lips Are Still Red" (Wembley 2015, with Troy playing some haunting guitar solos using an e-bow); and "I Want My Tears Back" (Buenos Aires 2018, or Wacken 2013)

Love the back and forth vocals between Marko and Floor. The studio version was sung by 2nd lead singer Anette Olzon and Marko. Marko's Devil character is amorously pursuing Floor's Mermaid character. She is having none of it, and manages to get away.

This is one of those songs. That ever time i hear it. I always find something different it.
There's also some great stuff in other gigs, like End of an Era, Wembley 2015, Tampere, Buenos Aires... But Wacken is ok for now. My humble advice; don't rush into anything over ten minutes... You will understand. At the right time...

Crowd surfing is very normal here haha. In a concert they are everywhere. Even wheelchairs go surfing (with fan in it :P ) I took my daughter of 12 to Anthrax in an exlusive small venue 2 years ago....all big guys, but so sweet for my daughter who was enjoying it so much. It took me months to learn how to say 'Hi', properly.
Emppu definitely gave this song a bit of a Van Halen feel with that lead hook.
Marko goes full-psychopath on the vocals.
Floor plays to vocal foil, and even gets in a growly bit or two.
It's just good fun.

Kai had been the drummer from Wintersun so both he and Jukka came from there. Troy had contributed on songs prior to 2013 but became a permanent member then. Jukka N. and Kai knew each other and when Jukka had to quit performing for health reasons he recommended Kai.
Ghost river is a North European spooky fairytale. I remember how scary I found it as kid. In short: a witch lures the children out their bed in the night, with her voice. DO COME ACROSS, meaning cross the river. Th river will swallow the children and the witch feeds on the souls of innocent children. Marko warns children not to go, Floor is luring them with her voice like a sirene. :)
@7:46: That post-breakdown riff, with the pinch harmonics, that is some classic early hardcore sound. I feel like I'm in some little grimy club in Hollywood in 1981...The unfashionable one with all the Goth people while Motley Crue is playing at the bigger place across town...

Hello again, Daniel. This band has changed my musical life since I discovered them a couple of years ago. My wife of 42 years, Carol, and I, traveled from Phoenix to see them live in San Francisco on May 18, 2022. The show was incredible from the time we were waiting in the line with all the other great fans who had come to see this performance until the show ended. Simply unbelievable. Loving your reactions to Nightwish with our Floor on lead vocals. The whole band is so tight live that it is almost unbelievable. Keep the Nightwish reactions coming my man.

Other good concerts are Wembley Tampere and Buenos Aires, Troy the sixth member is on a very good track from Buenos Aires called I want my tears back, you get Floor Marko on vocals but a very celtic vibe, the audience is crazy and Floor really knows how to play them. You've yet to hear any songs written for Floor. All the songs at Wacken was from the previous 2 singers and this is only 10 months or so into her run.

Adding to the comment where I listed the band members as of 2013, I can tell you that these are Finnish names, since Nightwish is a Finnish band. Apart from Floor, who's Dutch. She's their third singer, following Anette Olzon (Swedish) and Tarja Turunen (Finnish). Anette is good, but Tarja is amazing. Worth checking out.
Floor's performances of "The Phantom of the Opera", and "Vilja Lied" from the Dutch show Beeste Zangers (Best Singers) are also phenomenal.

David from across the pond again 😊 Great reaction as always - this is one of my favourite songs purely because the way Tuomas has managed to put some real 'light and shade' into this one - what with the totally metal breakdown followed by a children's choir, followed by such a beautiful angelic passage from Floor - written down like this, it shouldn't work - but it so delightfully does. 😅 I was interrupted by my Wife whilst watching your 'Euphoria' reaction so couldn't leave a comment - all I wanted to say was that you might wish to react to Floor singing 'O mio babbino caro' - why I thought it was very apt for your channel because it's an ARIA from a Puccini opera which you probably already knew! Also from the same Epica concert when you reacted to 'Sancta Terra' - Floor and Simone do another duet 'Stabat Mater Dolorosa' which was written by Giovanni Pergolesi nearly 300 years ago - he wrote it while he was dying of Tuberculosis at the age of 26 - you can hear the anguish in the duet - and the Epica audience were in silent awe!! Just wanted you to know about a couple of classical pieces that Floor has in her armour too. Take good care of yourself....David 😊

A great intro into the universe of ayreon, in which you'll find floor,Marco ,and a plethora of other amazing metal singers,and musicians . Then absolutely check out ,ayreon, everybody dies, live, or for real fun, intergalactic space crusaders, also Live at same concert. ( but watch out. Then you'll have a whole new massive rabbit hole of all these singers and their bands to explore. ) that's ok though, because I really enjoy watching you discover this amazing sound.

There is over 82,000 plus people there best transport to the restroom lol and i often wonder that too do you get booted out once the security grab you or do you get to return. I would say if you get to return you'd be at the back right?.
P.s. the small growly bits are done by Floor she can growl. Watch yours is an empty hope at Wembley Arena London 2015 the camera shows Floor growling as reactors get confused if it's Marko. Wembley is my personal second Fav concert next to Wacken.
