    Theatrical and Dramatic are Tuomas middle names :-)
    Ok, Devil And The Deep Dark Ocean from Buenos Aires, Yours Is An Empty Hope from Wembley, Song Of Myself from Wacken - and I think you still never heard Troy? Nope, you didn't. So strike all that, you need to listen to I Want My Tears Back from Bueons Aires first!! You can also see the new drummer Kai Hahto there after Jukka had to quit for health reasons (he's still CEO of the band though)

    So some fun facts. 1. Floor was not even an official member of the band during this concert. The band parted ways (in typical dramatic Nightwish fashion) in the middle of their North American tour. Floor was brought in to finish the NA &SA shows and then the European summer festival circuit. This was I believe the last festival of the summer so you could say this was a job interview although to be honest the job was going to be hers after the first couple of shows. There is a documentary about it (Please Learn the set list in 48hrs.) 2. While Floor was Flying over from Europe Elize from Amaranthe who was touring with Kamelot ,the opening act, filled in for one night so they didn't have to cancel the show (The Denver Debacle). Elize only had a couple of hours notice and was singing off of sheet music on stage. 3. You mentioned Devin I'm not aware of a Devin Nightwish connection but Anneke who frequently collaborates with him was one of Floors biggest influences. 4. I'd be fine with you reacting to the entire NW catalog but when you said this was epic I immediately thought it was time to introduce you to Epica If you check out "Santa Terra" or "Sabat Mater Dolorossa" from the retrospect show Floor is performing with them. 5. Lastly this brings me to what we like to call the Dutch Metal Maidens (Anneke, Sharon, Floor, Simone, Charlotte, & Dianne) for a country of its size the Netherlands has an insane amount of uber talented female fronted metal leads.

    • @jopes4855
      @jopes4855 Před 4 lety

      Small correction, Floor and Troy was asked to join band as full members back in June, which both happily did, so they already were official members in Wacken. But they (Nightwish) did not wanna make announcement while on tour(for obvious reasons). So they waited few months after the tour before the official announcement.

    • @demise0
      @demise0 Před 4 lety +1

      My understanding was that Elize's one night fill-in was prior to the firing of Annette. Annette was ill, so Tuomas asked Elize to fill-in. It was right after that show that Annette completely flipped out about being replaced rather than the show being cancelled that they let her go and had to scramble to find a replacement. Luckily Floor was available and the rest is history.

      Let's not forget Floors sister Irene, who is a damn good singer in her own right, showed up regularly at her After Forever shows and also particated on the Ayreon albums (and shows). @Sergey: you might want to check out Floors earlier work, for instance ReVamp. I personally love 'Sweet Curse', but haven't seen a good live version YT so far. But Wild Card, the Live version at Bloodstock might be a good starter. Agree with Jack on pretty much all his points though :)

    From the same Wacken 2013 show: Song of Myself, Everdream and I Want My Tears Back. For a song that out-epics Ghost Love Score, try The Greatest Show On Earth from live at Tampere. For something COMPLETELY different, try The Islander from live at Tampere. And for dramatic...definitely The Poet and the Pendulum live at Wembley. I would recommend checking out the lyrics for The Greatest Show On Earth and The Poet and the Pendulum prior to listening to those two.

    Yeah, the entire album Imaginaerum ('Storytime' and this are both from that album) has that kind of 'dark whimsical carnival' vibe on purpose so you'll probably enjoy 'I Want My Tears Back', 'Last Ride of the Day' and 'Song of Myself' from this show a lot. :) There's also the *very* theatrical 'Scaretale' -- though many say it's more Anette's wheelhouse than Floor's.

    But if you want even more theatrical, you should look at;
    "devil and the deep dark ocean", "kinslayer" and "slayer the dreamer" from their Decades tour in Buenos Aires 2018 ..
    Another, but very good one, was performed in Wembley arena 2015, "7 days to the wolves".
    That is also the concert, where their greatest theatrical piece is performed "Poet and the pendulem"
    All fantastic good and beautiful songs, but would consider to do my all time favorite "Song of myself" of the same concert as this (Wacken 2013)?

    So, as a Guitar Teacher you have recognised that this is a Van Halen Riff? Tuomas is doing a lot of that little credit parts for his heroes. In The Gratest Show On Earth you will find a 20sec. part of the music hisiory ending with Enter Sandman. The older live versions of Whishmaster ends with The Trooper by Iron Maiden.

    Alike, take a look at the Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean from Buenos Aires 2018.
    From the same concert e.g. Slaying the Dreamer, 10th Man Down, Dead Boy's Poem, The Kinslayer.
    And for the heavy side: Yours Is An Empty Hope, Wembley 2015. From the same concert alike e.g. 7 Days to The Wolves or While Your Lips Are Still Red for the softer side of them.
    And slowly towards the 2 long, epic ones.
    Poet and The Pendulum, Wembley 2015.
    The Greatest Show on Earth, Tampere 2015. And for this one, pick the right version i.e. the longest one you can find. Some cut the end off. And watch until the very end.

      @demise0 Před 4 lety +1

      @@LetsPlayMrK Absolutely. Annette was not very good live. I know people say Nightwish is best served live, but that really only applies to the Tarja and Floor eras. Annette was only good in studio. You will likely be disappointed in a live version with Annette, and I've seen it before where it puts a sour taste of the song in your mouth (ear). Plus the sound engineering in Wacken 2013 was so superb that if there is a live version of a song from Wacken 2013, even if there's one from another show, always do Wacken 2013. Also even though Annette was good in studio, nearly every song sung by her, but later performed live by Floor, is better with the live Floor version (except maybe Scaretale, which is quintessentially Annette). For example, Storytime is originally an Annette song, and the studio version was good with Annette, but the live version with Floor is better.

    still waiting till some1 will make reaction on full 1h 40 min Wacken live from 2013... Btw not sure if you checked this two already, but two songs were guitar is more pronounce in music than usually in Nightwish songs are from the old ones: wishmaster (which is live in decent quality only with Tarja, 1st singer) or Slaying the dreamer, you can check both Tarja and Floor versions.

    This is a repeat in case you missed it.You need to listen to Neurasthenia, a song by Revamp Floor's old band featuring Devin Townsend. Floor has been featured on other artists albums. Another one is "Orbit" with Evergrey. She has also done some songs for Ayreon (Arjen Anthony Lucassen)projects. "Song of Myself" is my favorite Nightwish song. At Wacken 2013.Thank you!

    Check out "Greatest Show on Earth" from the Tempere show. Epic! IMO the NIghtwish live recordings are much better than their studio album stuff. Also, "Poet and the Pendulum" is very dramatic.

    They're pretty much all very theatrical, lol. You'd probably enjoy everything from Imaginaerum. Trouble is, Floor hasn't sung it all. It was written when they had Anette Olzon, who wasn't quite as capable live.

    Similar style would be I Want My Tears Back, superior version would be Decades in Buenos Aires or Wembley Arena.

    Maybe you should do a double reaction of Marko's original band Tarot. You could do the more modern official video of Wings of Darkness and then check their version of it from the 80's after that. 😉

    You need to listen to the new album (Human:Nature) There are a lot of harmonies with Floor, Marco and Troy (Multi instumentalist who you haven't seen yet).
    It's very different but still Nightwish.

    Devin Townsend actually had Floor Jansen as a guest on the song "Pandemic" from his Deconstruction album. That song is absolutely bonkers, sounds like nightwish on REALLY heavy drugs, LOL
