People seem to have misunderstood what each German manufacturer strives for. For example: If want a car that is aggressive and sporty then go for BMW, if you want something opposite and more luxurious and on the soft side then go for MB, if you want something with great fuel economy and great comfort with subtle style go for the Audi. It all comes down to what kind of driver you are. Everyone has an opinion but for God's sake you don't have to ridicule something just because it doesn't fit your taste.

I am a proud 320i, 328i & 335i owner at the same time, but i've just bought a new A4 2,0tfsi s-tronic 190bhp for my mom last friday. She wanted a new car and having it compared to the actual F30 3-series, it is just a better car for exactly the same money and that is all whas she needs, no fun of being rear wheel driven. The new A4 is on a level of a 5series BMW in terms of road comfort and luxury. Stunning vehicle. its about 7-8 weeks until delivery, i can't wait to try it out and compare with my BMs...
The interior is best in class.

I don't like this design one bit, but you'd have to be a blithering idiot blind as a bat or just flat out unobservant to not notice the changes on this new A4. And to many the 991 looks like a stretched out 997. The interior is practically the same, just roomier.
The 991 has an entirely different interior than the 997. I hope you're kidding. The dash, center console, infotainment system, EVERYTHING is different. Go look up two pictures and compare them to see the difference lol.
Charlie Long I hope you're kidding, otherwise you're blind. Have you even seen both cockpits up and close in person? I doubt it. As a huge Porsche 991 fan myself, you there's no doubting that the 991's cockpit looks very similar to the 997's, just stretched up. Keep denying that though...
Yes. But BMW 3 series and BMW 4 series interior is painfuly the the same...only more equipement in 4. Any thought on that part. Car design changes, yes. But is it enough?

LOL? The 3 series and the 4 series share the same interior because the 4 series is a two door 3 series (or a sleeker four door if you opt for the Gran Coupe). They're supposed to look the same, and contrary to your beliefs, they share the same exact equipment. The 4 just has less leg/head room but sleeker exterior styling. It's just like the A6 compared to the A7 except the A7 is just a "four door coupe".
Looks impressively well built! I like a lot the timeless minimalist design, inside and out - less is more when attention to detail is so great.
This car is amazing I'm glad Audi had stepped up, by far the best within their class
VAG have really stepped up their interiors recently
In my opinion I think this Audi A4 is by far better looking than before. Arguably better looking than the A6 and A7. If this comes in an all-wheel drive system I would seriously consider it over the 3 series rear wheel drive system (since Audi doesn't offer this in a rear-wheel drive). I can't wait to test drive one of these!!

Stunning design, which gives credit to previous A4's while still looking sharp and modern. Timeless design really. Love those DLR's and that interior is a master piece. Of course it will be beautifully screwed together, and those seats look amazing. Have full confidence this is going to be an epic car, but for the time being, I am quite happy in my MK6 Golf xD

Tony Montana bmw 3 series is exactly same case yet dont see people moan. Those people who are actual customers of those cars (can afford it brand new) like to buy them for exactly sticking with their style. Otherwise they would buy something different but those cars are those branfs main selling point.

pwoo124 It just looks cheap, You pay a premium for an Audi, and for the price, you expect a decent quality cabin, but because Audi are dicks under the control of the VW group. You just get ripped off.
peacegod101 Strange then that the industry and customer feedback as well as motoring journos have acknowledged for the last five years or so, that Audi build the best interiors across most sectors
Mercedes W205 no offence intended if you are Merc fan, they have improved the messy button happy appearance in recent times but Merc especially the new C is very showy and form over function for me but hey each to his own or things would be very boring

Picked up my new A4 2.0 Sport 3 days ago. I had difficulty telling it apart from the old one and really, the mirrors on the doors are one of the few 'tells' other than the grill, but I've only seen a couple of others on the road anyway. Simply put, the car is fantastic to drive and comes with a long list of features as standard. The long air vents on the dash work great and I wouldn't want to go back to multiple vents. I also love all the buttons which are really high quality as well as touch sensitive, but strangely the indicator and wiper stalks seem cheap and I've seen better on an old Ford. Without doubt it's better than the 3 series and C class and the thing I like best is that it feels rock solid, stable, and quiet at speed on the motorway- but this also means you might rack up the points on your license fast too. However, if you're a show-off more than a driver, you'll probably choose the BM or the Merc.
A lot of the comments on here are plain childish. The car has improved significantly in every area that counts - yet people are complaining that the styling hasn't changed enough? If the car was ugly you could say that - but it's not ugly. If you are concerned with people wondering what year model you have (as if some of it's competitors don't have the same problem) rather than the efficiency - luxury - performance improvements - then you are simply superficial.
Amidat You are correct. Most have no clue nor have an eye to determine what will be a very good car. I am considering purchasing with the new diesel, (but the new 252HP/273TRQ 2.0 sounds good too.
I own 3 Audi's and overall are a terrific car. This will be a class leader.

Really gorgeous body design. Audi design strategy might seem conservative--after all its cars are selling as never before, and the brand increasingly gains market share in the premium segment; but the fact is this new A4 is in all aspects a refined version of its predecessor. Still don't think it looks impressive? Wait to see it up close. This car is designed to be carefully appreciated. Bravo AUDI!

julian mares Word around the campfire is that the outside styling was scrapped at the last minute, and they where forced to retreat.
julian mares its not the same. its on a different platform. looks similar but to be honest most car upgrades all look similar. take the ford focus.

Avant looks nice but safe, saloon doesn't thrill much though. Like the new interior though, certainly a step up in class from the predecessor.

The front and rear have very subtle, yet distinct differences. A fan of Audi will pick it up straight away.
Same with BMW. As with any cosmetic changes, true fanatics spot them instantly.

It's seems like Audi always have some new cutting edge design when it comes to razor sharp front/tail lights on there cars.
nice motor but a major step backwards in exterior design . it looks very like the old B7 A4 the model that was out from 2004-2008
I'm impressed that finally audi make all class look different now, A4 doesnt look like an A6 or Q7 upfront. Love the minimalist yet luxurious interior design and aggressive sharp looking interior. what i dont understand is why the new interior design not available in all new A6
Engineering and chassis is as always very good, I don't have a problem with that or the very nice cabin, I simply don't like the exterior styling. But I do like the styling of the Mazda, the Mondeo, the Insignia, the Passat, the Octavia and most certainly the BMW or Merc C class which is my favourite. But for me the styling has improved.

I have alwyas been a fan of the A4, I owned one myself. But I am sure the Jaguar XE will be way better if an overall analysis takes place among cars of such segment
So, the front is almost exactly the same, the profile and the back looks almost identical as the A3 sedan and the interior has a "tablet style" central display whereas the A3 has a retractable. Well, what a deception...
For the people complaining,all they did was refresh the car. A car doesn't always get replaced with a new design, if u r a real car lover you would know that. They had to offer better features in this segment and so they did. Take away the c class air suspension and it's air freshener, it doesn't av the best tech. The A4 and XE wins. With all that being said, the C class is the top choice and A4 will still sell many units and more people will grow to love it. By the way, S class is still the best class...The new 7 series still behind, even though they made a good effort. Lets hope the A8 comes out swinging in 2016 with the 2017 model.

Looks great, except for the tablet style monitor.. looks almost as bad as the Mercedes version.. Why not make it stylish like the current A6?

Exterior 5/10: Not as bad as the new Q7, but really didn't change much from the current gen.
Interior 9/10: Real nice... looks like a mini-A6.
All in all, solid car but won't start outselling 3 series and C class any time soon.
You said new , I see just a major facelift that may not be enough with the new XE , giulia and c class ! Mercedes has done a great job with the latest c class we can't say the same about this "new" A4.
As a B8 owner, I like this design but I have to say they are very conservative (to put it nicely). The interior is where the real upgrade happens. Overall, I'm not tempted at all by this new car unless they bring in some new drivetrain.
The interior console just looks like a mixture of the 5 series and C class.
i hope that virtual cockpit will be in base of cheapest A4
I love audi it is just one of the most luxurious car manufacturers I have ever seen. This car is very well designed, class leading that's what I like about Audis and the new A4 is just elegant beutiful cars I have ever seen .
A handsome car and I'm sure it will be a step up from the current model, with ever better engines.
What I do not like is the horizontal slatted grill which to me shouts out VW Passat.!

What would someone be doing while crawling in a traffic jam, while their car stops and starts moving at upto 8mph, that won't get them fined for driving without due care and attention or using a mobile phone while driving etc?
The interior is straight out of the 3/4 series. Look at the HVAC and center console.
I am an owner of 2013 2.0T Quattro. I think there are no major changes compared to predecessor's and exterior design of the new car could be much better. Interior design looks better developed than exterior.
Nothing jaw dropping. ..however, very good entry for this segment. Only way I think it will be a force to reckon with...is by having a manual transmission option.
I was gonna ask if it was based on the vw passat, because other the aircon vent that goes all the way across the dash, but then matt said it. So yeah.
Felix Aitken Is not based on passat .... passat use mqb platform "Modular Transverse Matrix" ... and the new audi a4 use mlb evo "Modular Longitudinal Matrix" ....

Felix Aitken You'll probably see that interior styling cue in most VAG new models. It has nothing to do with being based on the Passat. But they do share a platform. And they always did really.
