Funny how Scorpion is broken by NOT actually abusing loops and other wacky Armageddon mechanics, but by just being really, really good.
When you are so powerful you don't even need to abuse the broken systems.
Was the funniest revelation amongst MKA players that he was actually the best character. Sareena was #1 for a long time, unanimously, until the players took the game offline.

MK9 still looks great more than a decade later. Man I miss that game.
I'm still salty that Ed Boon teased the idea of rereleasing mk9 with rollback and then nothing came of it. MK9 remains my favorite MK game with all its broken nonsense and being able to play stable online would just be incredible.

I remember playing Scorpion in MKA back in the day, he is such a fun and versatile character to play and really easy to use. Now I play Reptile in MKA and he's super fun and versatile as well, but I can't forget how much time I've spent with Scorpion in MKA.
Bro my story's exactly the same, I grew up a Scorpion fan but then became a Reptile fan 12 years ago, after playing UMK3 lol 😂😂😂

Reptile was my favorite character when I started playing MK games with MK2, then in UMK3 Scorpion became my favorite with Reptile being my 2nd favorite, and when I started playing on a more serious level in MK9, Reptile went back to be my top favorite and now Scorpion is my 2nd favorite.

Would like to add that Tanya in MKX with her staff stance was a monster. Option selects for days, staggered mix-ups, and ruthless timing.

I always see Scorpion at the top of Armageddon tier lists, but I never knew why just because I have NO experience with competitive 3D MK. I'd really like to see this kind of video but just talking about the most broken characters in the Midway games exclusively. Good video as always!

THANK YOU for breaking down what "broken" means. I feel like the "modern" meta especially in fighting games consistently misuse this term and scream at nauseum for devs to patch games into submission. Often those who yell something is "broken" the most are scrub players. Lol. Thanks for posting. I LOVE this channel for a reason.

i find it quite funny that Kabal is #1 in not one, but two Mortal Kombat games (UMK3 and MK9) for almost the exact same reasons. like, NRS must've at least taken inspiration from the older games when making MK9, as idk how they didn't see that coming lol.

It's a MK tradition that you need to have at least one completely worthless character and one OP death god who 10/0s everybody else.
I hated in my scene when Tremor came out because for some reason most the "players" said he was trash tier despite having pseudo block infinites in the first patch with him
When Deadly Alliance launched, I was 16 and I brought my brother who was 8 to the mall with me to pick it up from GameStop. They had the game in the demo kiosk, and my brother picked up the sticks and started 1v1'ing random people in the mall. He ended up going on a 13 round winning streak at the age of 8 and having never played a fighting game before, using Scorpion.

I just want to take a second to point out how great that script work is, the transition from mkx tremor to mk9 kenshi is honestly such a great one and is definitely underappreciated

Competitive History on Kabal next?
Kabal in vanilla MK3 was so OP, his usual combo that ends with light kick into vapour blast in the air was 40%. It got nerfed into like 36 or something in UMK3
about scorpion, you also forgot his neutral 1, x on xbox controller, is safe on block. I have actually been thinking of doing a mk A deep dive video THROUGH a semi modern competitive lens and was thinking of doing a kreate a kharacter video making a BALANCED character. if your looking to do a video collab, give me a shout. Shang Tsung’s ground fire is multiple fire attacks that traditionally launch the opponent while Scorpion's is just an unblockable flame attack that is single hit with it’s own animation. Nothing alike whatsoever other than both attacks having fire.
I wonder how much Tanya can hang with the Gold characters, if Mileena is a bad match-up for Sektor, perhaps Tanya is too? since they are slightly similar, she's certainly a cut above even her top tier counterparts in Scorpion, Reptile, Sub-Zero and Reiko.

D3vil's Scorpion in MKA was god-like. The F2 into Hellfire was too damn good. We had some unbelievably close matches! Good times!

God, that Kabal played like a bitch in the first clip and immediately got destroyed by that Cyrax the moment he let himself get backed into a corner.
Great vid mate. For me the best top tier in Mortal Kombat 4 is Reiko. The Flip Kick abuse with techy air throw as a combo ender was great. What a lovely time.

UMK3 Kabal is op. The nomad dash is so fast and works great on wake up and with anti air. I can't quite instant air gas blast on arcade sticks with him still. Also when you play against Kabal you kinda just sit there afraid of nomad dash the entire time almost scared to move at all.

It's something that has been referenced by even Ed Boon himself in old promotional footage, but the wild thing about Vanilla MK3 was that there were other characters superior in the tier list for being, well, broken. Funnily enough!
Blade was made useless because you couldn't do it after spindash as well as some other things, but you might be thinking of Unmasked Sub, since he was hit hard with nerfs in Ultimate.
@@PNDKM Sub-Zero was god tier in that game due to his Ice Clone's numerous infinite possibilities and Jax was also very broken due to his Missiles having almost no cooldown time

I saw tremor and I threw up in my mouth on reaction. Like usually I'm not one to get frustrated by really good characters, like I know the deal I've been playing fighting games a long time but Tremor gets to me cause he's fundamentally good at MKX in that DLC privilege way that just bugs me. I am so glad MK11 has generally avoided doing that. There's good characters but nobody who's like clearly designed to be better than everybody else at the fundamentals game like Alien or Tremor.

I think in MKX the Dragon Fire Liu Kang variation is as strong if not stronger than the Crystalline Tremor variation. It does require tighter and hard to do execution but if you put in the work you can be an absolute menace
