    In this movie's defense of practical, is that Mark Ruffalo's character is FBI. So he has been working on this for maybe a decade. He has a lot of influence and help. So it's possible. Morgan Freeman's character was explaining how it could have been done and the showing his explanation wasn't how it actually was done with all the details. These magician movies gave me an appreciation of how much a trick can be intellectually thought out. Another of my favorite is The Illusionist. The mastering and devotion of years of planning a good trick. Wow amazing. 😮

    • @rugr82day
      @rugr82day Před 3 měsíci +2

      True and one of the things that makes it easier to accept that Mark's character would be the one to take the case was because he set up every act for them to follow. The holographic information and blue prints in the beginning of the movie were all his. So it's easy to believe that he's smart enough to arrange things inside of the FBI so it suits his needs. Even if it meant hacking the system and creating his own assignment locations. I haven't seen The Illusionist before, I'll have to check it out.

    The sequel is just as good! 😂 I think when filming they were hoping to do a sequel, but financers weren't sure about committing to a 2 part. The writers also didn't want audiences to feel cheated by a cliffhanger if part 2 never got made. So they filmed the 1st part as if it was only going to be a solo story & went all out to make the characters & pacing as good as possible, knowing if you hook that audience into loving the characters & story then response would definitely be good enough to help secure financing for part 2. Now it seems they're talking about a part 3. I'll definitely watch it if they do make it, because 1 & 2 were fun. They make you think a little, but mostly it's just entertainment.

    I was hooked on this movie at the very first trick, The card I picked when he was flipping the cards was the 7 of diamonds, then to see it light up. When looking back at it there was a split second pause on it when going through the cards.

    After watching the 2nd one, it's cool to notice what Dylan does to mis-direct the cops and everything and how the french lady disrupts some of that (like how she catches up to Atlas first).

    I’ve never been hypnotized but I did attend to a huge live magic show once.
    Joe Labero, a Swedish magician who actually had some shows in Las Vegas during the 90’s. He was really good, I sat completly dumbfounded most of the time.
    Watching magic on TV you always think there some editing but seeing it in real life is so impressive!

    I have both movies on DVD. I love to get most movies on DVD because of all the extras. One of the extras is an alternate ending. Instead of the park scene. They drive out to a place in the Nevada desert. Were all the old Vagas signs have been stored. It helps to set up another movie.
    Diamond DAVE, you are right about not knowing if they would be able to make the second movie at the time of releas. But they still made the alternate ending just in case they did make the next one.

    On the suspension of practicality aspect you mention how Dylan (Mark) would have to be assigned to the right place and what not but what you forgot was he created the show so he could make it be wherever he was and whatever he needed to in order to make sure he was the agent picked. On the other points you’re right but I needed to point out that one aspect.

    If you haven't heard by now, the third part is in the works!
    It is super rewatchable which is unusual for a movie with a plot twist. Usually you're like "yeah, I know what happens" but this one is still interesting and fun after a few times.
    Dylan would know to make himself available since he was the one who gave them the blueprints. His father did the tree card trick, he has learned early that you need patience for the long con.
    Personally, I think that we owe the brilliant casting to the director's shady sense of humor. He did the Hulk movie (the one with Ed Norton) for Marvel and he wanted Mark Ruffalo to play him from the start but Marvel got Norton. After it crashed down they've got Mark finally but a different director was doing it. I think that getting some of the best actors who played in the DC movies alongside Ruffalo was intended to be a subtle shade by the director.

    Its the Pont des Arts bridge. From 2008 people started to attach locks to the bridge to symbolize their love. By 2013 there were almost a million locks. When a section of the bridge fence collapsed under the weight they cut all the locks off and made it illegal.
