- Atlas does parkour. The control software uses the whole body including legs, arms and torso, to marshal the energy and strength for jumping over the log and leaping up the steps without breaking its pace. (Step height 40 cm.) Atlas uses computer vision to locate itself with respect to visible markers on the approach to hit the terrain accurately. For more information visit www.BostonDynamics.com.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who checks back in at Boston Dynamics from time to time to see how the robot uprising is coming along

You know Boston Dynamics are breaking new ground and really doing something out of this world when such a huge amount of people refuse to believe what they are seeing.
Are you kidding me?! A few years back they used to stumble and fall when they touched a wall..! This is incredible
This was Governments top secret those few years back, now they have more advanced technology in top secret hiding, there's no evidence, but we all know
I can't do a backflip if you put a gun to me. The terminator was a documentary czcams.com/video/LikxFZZO2sk/video.html
@@jakehalle3697 Oml
@@jakehalle3697 this isn't the government lol
To be fair to mr. Halle, Boston Dynamics has done many government funded projects. However, they've also usually shown these projects off. Even ones intended for use in combat, such as bigdog, have been shown off before they were ever deployed. Humanoid robots haven't seen widespread combat use, because sending meatbags in to die is cheaper. They've only really been used in fields that are already expensive, such as America's drone program or Russia's new automated tanks. However, humanoid robots will only enter combat if they're either substantially better than human soldiers in almost every regard, or they're very cheap.
*Human:* Hey, and who are you?
*Atlas:* I'm you, but better.

Why thank you!
Can we take a moment before panicking to appreciate all the hard work that engineers put into this and a huge progress that they made since the first prototype?
It's already learning to jump over our dead bodies

This is the video of all the successful parkour attempts. I would pay good money to see the attempts where the robot ate absolute shit
30 second montage wtf? Where are the videos of public demonstrations?
Boston Dynamics: Look, we don't have much footage so we'll have to pad the runtime with lots of slow-mo.
Pitch Meeting: Oooh, lots of slow-mo is tight!
These videos are like watching death approach you step by step. And I like it.
To be fair, a robot being capable of accurately measuring his distance to an obstacle, opting to jump over it without slowing down AND performing all the necessary recalibrations and self-balancing ON THE GO is an ABSOLUTELY BREATHTAKING achievement!
Bro it is clearly showing the robot is pre-programmed on that task until does it right for the video otherwise if it was able to do the stuff you claim they will film it live like when they filmed atlas picking up boxes and the time they pushed around.
@Samurai Jack The ultimate main issue of Robots are it is the program(A.I) it is not the easiest part put the hardest as it requires a lot of computing power to achieve simple tasks and atlas to this moment is not semi-autonomous or autonomous. You can build the best robot body but for it to function autonomous a lot of computing power is required that reduce it to very simple tasks only(Unless a fully quantum computing is possible please do not say it is already here focus on the keyword "fully").
I've honestly never seen so smooth moves in any other robot currently. Atlas moves like somebody put brains of Zoltan the dwarf in robot body.

0:06 Proof that this ain't CGI is the way the robot lands on this wooden platform. If it was CG, the top platform would have not moved, the editor would add a loud wooden slap sound and the shadows would be almost invisable.
well observed bruh !
This is the actual makes of these robots. They are not faking their videos it's other people doing it.
Have you seen any of the recent Marvel movies? I think it's possible to animate a piece of wooden platform.
Or even simplier, a guy in greenscreen suit does all the stuff, so he is invisible on the video (after editing him out), and they can simply replace him with the CGI robot.
@@Xenzif that is a good theory, but they would not think of putting a shadow on the wall behind them, even the physics seem real, try looking up programed robots to parkour it's way up and tell me physics won't work this way, they even show some BTS work on the machine, there are deleted scenes due to the amount of programing the goes into a simple jump.

From Brussels, with Love...
Look at him go!!!!! What a good boy
I dream frequently hoping that someone smart like these folks will soon make it possible for me to walk again.
I think the main obstacle of that at the moment is the interface, nerve->chip. The worlds first cyborg (2002) had an interface connected to his wrist, he then ran different tests with it and it seemed the brain was very capable at picking up and sorting out the new information.
But it's been very slow progress since then sadly. Think doctors who have to perform the surgery are unwilling to risk being sued and the other scientists are having a hard time getting much further without more information and testing.
But hopefully things will look up in the near future, tbh the best you can do is look for programs like this newatlas.com/darpa-neural-interface/41434/ and either try to get involved or to bring attention to it.
