This comment also contains a slight inconsistency since manufacturers usually call 1440p screens 2K, while it's actually closer to 2.5K. The same goes for 1080p.

I don't think most people understand how difficult it is to lift some of those more complex heavy objects, let alone walk around with them. Truly incredible work!
edit: I think I worded this badly, what I meant was It's difficult to program a robot to be able to do this
edit: A lot of the replies to this took this completely the wrong way. I didn't mean things like "everyone else is stupid" or "I'm the only person who understands this". All I meant was that it's really impressive and mind blowing what Boston Dynamics have achieved. I think the way I worded it made some people feel like I was trying to be insulting and I apologise to everyone who felt that way.

Our eyes are "backward", our pelvis and lower back is still half-quadroped, our air intake and foodway cross, causing us to choke, and what's up with the laryngial nerve? If an engineer made a connection from brain to larynx that looped around the aorta, they'd get fired!

Many modern things today emulate things in Nature, e.g., airplanes, submarines, automobiles. Particularly true for dynamic machines. The human form may not be the ultimate design for specific tasks but for overall "jack of all trades" type things it is hard to beat. I believe that God created a very good model and apparently the engineers do too. Human sized (and designed) robots can have superior strength, eyesight, hearing, and endurance with today's technology. Dexterity is getting a lot better but considerably lags humans right now (imagine a robot dancer or gymnast). Reason, emotion, and decision making are hurdles that may never be perfected in robots, despite AI.

The progress being made in the field of humanoid robotics is impressive. And the variety of items that Atlas can manipulate rapidly with ease is amazing. You can almost see Atlas performing in a manufacturing environment. However, Atlas can't perform quality control on it's own. What if the muffler has a defect? It would still sort it with the other muffler. Atlas can't check to make sure the items are functioning properly before it sorts them...That's probably where AI will come into play in the future.

It's getting less creepy and more cute. The Uncanny Valley is circular, I think.

No that uncanny was really the new version but still in development it take a long times, but this video is very old it around 3 months ago but at that time it was private. If you read the comments you will see some comment from 3 months ago!

It’s funny seeing the bottom half move first when turning to walk into a new direction.. We as humans with our limited peripheral are trained to move our heads first and then our lower body.

It is impressive that this robot can now grasp objects and move them from left to right, but how is that supposed to replace a worker in the future? Spot, on the other hand, is truly practical; it has a clear and useful purpose in real-life applications.

Atlas HD has been retired two months ago. This video showing as "new" is just a quirk of CZcams. It is actually two months old and had been posted when the Atlas HD had retired.
Back then there was a link to this video from another video, but otherwise this video was set as "unlisted". Two days ago BD switched the settings for this video from "unlisted" to "public", and CZcams now shows as though this video has been posted just two days ago, even though it was really around for two months, as is evident from the age of the oldest comments. This is just how CZcams works. Quite confusing!

How much power does it need? How long can it run without being refuled/recharged?
