Great entertainment from two top teams with some great players played on a terrible pitch. This was how football was every week during the 60's and 70's. Great memories.
What a pleasure it is to listen to a proper commentary, no extraneous BS and no ex-Liverpool players making stupid and biased comments and continually referring to how the game was better when they played in the age of dinosaurs....
Always remember this game as a twelve year old boy standing in the park lane end I had a conversation with George Best many years later talking about this game and he remembered it well great game and atmosphere
I was there supporting United, looking at it now no wonder there was so much misplaced passing and sloppy play then, it's only Dec and the pitch is already bog like. However, George Best was such a skilful player he would have excelled in any era.
Loved watching this great entertainment thanks for the upload. I'm looking for the full match of Spurs 1963 European cup winners cup final on dvd can anyone help ?
What a fantastic pitch - more of a quagmire!! Strange commentary from Brian Moore, referring to the great George Best he said "love him or hate him" I was unaware at the time that anybody could hate George Best. Very sporting of the Spurs players to act as peacemakers between the two United players, cannot imagine it happening today.
Tavy@ what a goal by best on a mud swamp of a pitch. Best even knew as he took it on the chest that the ball wasnt going to bounce! What a player. Greatest ever. Best put at least 50 thousand on the gate home and away Every week. I have never seen a player fill a stadium like george best did. The turnstiles were closed by 1pm to 2pm
Le but de Best est un modèle du genre. Pourquoi Rimmer n'est pas resté à United, il était bien meilleur que Stepney (il avait joué 2 très bon match contre le milan ac). La ressemblance entre Pat Jennings et Michael Caine est incroyable.
Great to watch this again after so many years.!!Spurs v United was always a great game back in the Day.!!!! United tanked them at Old Trafford most times and Spurs done United at White Hart Lane .!!!
Ha! Best missed training and the team train to london, obviously been on a bit of a bender. He still set up Laws goal with a lovely touch and scored a nice goal himself and on that pitch.
@@mickfoskett6629 We Mancs, born and bred there, are always comfortable supporting our LOCAL team irrespective of how well,or how badly they are doing.I am sure the plastic parasites from miles away ,can never feel that comfortable identification with a team and club around which you were reared. @@djangorheinhardt ..i was born in Salford pal..parents moved to London when I was 5...in there 70s and 80s united were only winning the odd cup so it definitely wasn't for the glory then it was for the football we played..obviously when we took off in 92 the plastic glory hunters started clinging on which I agree is a shame but most big clubs have them now and it does make my heart sink when I see the day drippers and tourists there but what can you do ..clubs have ripped out the soul from the locals with most being out priced to games..sad how it's gone👹
@@theknightwhosaysni1356 Indeed. The only infringement was the Spurs number 5 pushing the goalscorer Sadler in the back - to no avail. It was a bizarre decision.

It's all grist to the mill. Which dinosaurs period? There's a lot of 'em!

My first ever match aged 8, my abiding memory as a Man U fan is Best's goal and being in the swaying crowd behind the goal.
How did Tottenham not win that game? Fantastic goal by Gilzean.
Travelled up from the South coast to the game. The first time I witnessed a First Division match 'in the flesh'.
Superb goal from Best.
Wow. The great Brian Moore back in the day. Classic in every way.
entertaining football played on a mud heap . With some outstanding goals , & fclassic commentary from the great brain moore. Thanks

My first ever match. 7 years old in the front row of the upper Paxton with my Dad. The atmosphere was electric.
Class mate. What fantastic entertainment on a glue pot of a pitch
Nothing beats that atmosphere!
I was there Utd supporter. ..Best times.
Best laid it on for Law..That wasn't opportunism from law, it was a perfect assist Best

Strange? Sounds normal Moore to me ie excited with goals, asking questions & giving experience in his views. The best & missed.
Great upload, love watching these old games.
One of the best games I ever saw. I was 16

I went to watch him at Bournemouth once, he never turned up!!

This deserved a draw that they provided such a good game. Rimmer bounced the ball & plop it stayed.
The pitch was like a billiard table : )
Willie Watson made 11 appearances during three years at Utd.
before moving on to Motherwell.
Great game on a Great War pitch!
What a game. What would Georgie Best been like today on these bowling of pitches of today.
Back when it actually was all fields
Hi, do you have a full version of this? Looking to purchase for my fathers birthday?
United used to play well in these Cockney slums, even when they were struggling.
Ha! Best missed training and the team train to london, obviously been on a bit of a bender. He still set up Laws goal with a lovely touch and scored a nice goal himself and on that pitch.
@14-47,,,...just look at those huge side-burns on keeper Rimmer.
Law seemed to be playing midfield??
Thanks for posting
You may have confused him with Fitzpatrick, who looks very similar on ancient B&W low quality film, particularly with his hairstyle.
Yes. He was hard-working inside forward.
Gillie!
United were clearly past there best at this stage
utd had big support away even in those days
Yeah loads of plastic hangers on, from outside Manchester.
original mate well done.

the referee was freaking abysmal
Ray Tinkler - this was the same season he enraged the whole of Leeds
Seemed ok, not easy on that pitch trying to keep up. Wasn't a dirty game & no one got booked.
what an awful pitch, The ball doesn't bounce on certain parts of it..
How Utd got a point there is anyones guess.
Why United's first goal wasn't given is a bigger mystery, there wasn't United player within 8 feet of Jennings.
The same way they always do - quality players + determination

No doubt it was down to Alex Ferguson's malign influence; it usually is, one way or another. Or so I'm always hearing.
