    I shot one in 44 mag years ago at a silhouette match. Scored 32 out of 40 with never firing one before that day. Nicest 44 I've every fired. Huge thumbs up!

    This was a Dan Wesson Model 15-2 V Package. V=ventilated. The VH model was ventilated and had an under lug like an L frame S&W 586. I believe the small alen wrench was to remove the front sight.

    Nice revolver and nice shooting! Quite a fireball coming out of that for an 8" barrel too. I would love to find one of these because it seems difficult to find 8" barrel 357 revolvers.

    Looking at one of these. Comes with the box,4in on it with 2in in the box. Unfortunately it has the pachmayr grip on it. The wood grip looks so much better. Good video.

    they did that cockwise cylinder just like colt because it reduces stress on the crane, since it turns in the same direction the crane locks and when the crane of revolver worn out for whatever reason it tend to bend to the left so using this design when the cylinder is rotating it push the crane to center position by itself so it prolonging service life and keeping everything tight together
    you should watch c&rsenal clip and see the reason why colt and other did this
    it's a clever design and colt use it for than 100 year but i just wonder no one did that except colt and few other manufacturer

    Nice DW. Those are Zebra grips and a combat grip. Generally standard with the pistol pak. The grip dates it to around the early 70's. I have made several videos on the DW. That's a nice one there.

    • @MysteryWheelgunner
      @MysteryWheelgunner  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks for the info. Did any of the combat grips have the DW medallion? Or were they all "naked" so to speak?

      @@MysteryWheelgunner I have a 15-2VH pistol pack that I bought off of a Secret Service agent in the early 80’s. At the time it had two grips, a big zebrawood grip like in the video, but also a custom combat grip. The agent told me when he bought the pistol pack it came with a block of wood, and a block of clay, and DW made a truly custom grip for his hand. I still have that grip and it is very oddly shaped.

    A great pac. I just picked up a 6 inch from an estate sale. Looks like it hadn't been shot. Cant wait to get it from my FFL. Cz makes stainless dan Wesson's model 715. You can still get barrels and shrouds in blue from them. I havent been able to find pics of the 2 3/4 inch barrel installed. Nice video. Oh yeah the other allen is for the side plate. Hey hie was the felt recoil compared to a ruger 357 gp100 or security six?

    • @MysteryWheelgunner
      @MysteryWheelgunner  Před 4 lety +1

      Felt recoil was a little harsher than a GP100. Keep in mind that grips play an important part in felt recoil. My GP100 has the comfortable, but kind of ugly, Hogue monogrip. The Dan Wesson in the video has beautiful grips, but they don't have the ergonomic contouring of the Hogue. Shooting slowly, the Dan Wesson feels comfortable enough. If you try to speed shoot like Jerry Miculek, you'll feel it.

    The bluing was so much better back in those days. That Dan Wesson has a glass-like finish. I can't stand how cheap the bluing and wood looks on today's handguns and rifles.

    @23:00 . . . yes, the reset is critical. You must train to fully reset. If you don't, pulling the trigger for firing the next shot will not happen. CZ can adjust this . . .

    Who owns Dan Wesson now? I'm sure that the patents are out since a patent is only good for 17 years. However, anyone with a mechanical or electronic background can build one. Patents cannot be renewed or extended much unlike trademarks.

      Looks like Colt/CZ Group is the corporate entity that owns Dan Wesson right now.

      If by chance you are shooting 38s before 357s you're going to get powder residue building up in the cylinder. That can make those shells stick fierce

      But I found it was not to be- they wouldn't eject! And.. damned well obvious why.
