This is what happens when I get all excited and make a video on a whim
Corrections:
1) Dan Wesson is a relative great grandson of one of the founders of Smith and Wesson. This I knew but I had 445 Supermag on the brain so bad I was thinking of Elgin Gates.
2)Dan Wesson was under ownership of CZ when the 715 357Magnum version was released.
Dan Wesson had a family connection to S&W because his great grandfather, Daniel B. Wesson, co-founded the company with Horace Smith. Daniel B. Wesson II, Dan Wesson's father, worked at S&W from 1938-1963, where he was responsible for production quality. In 1968 Dan Wesson founded his own company, Wesson Firearms Co., Inc., to continue the family's legacy of firearms. A little trivia.....DW .44 Magnum (not CZ DW) has more competition wins than all other makers combined. I'm 78 and still compete with various DW's.....no CZ DW for me.....nice, but I prefer the good ole' original. Enjoyed the video fellow Patriot!!
Great idea to compare all four revolvers!
I love my 15-2. 357 mag is already a highly versatile cartridge, but being able to swap barrels from a 2.5in, to a 4in, 6in, or 8in makes the DW arguably the most versatile handgun ever made!
I would love to get one in .44 some day. Thanks for sharing!
You have a complete set? That is awesome.
I got to shoot a Dan Wesson .357 once... it was the first time I had ever shot two full house .357 Magnums (Federal Fusion) through the same hole dead center, like I had to bring the paper back to validate that the two holes were basically on top of each other. Super, super, super nice... not that I would want to pay what a Dan Wesson costs. I'll stick with Ruger revolvers for now, but I'm going to keep it on my bucket list
I know what you man I am hoping for a reintroduction that may drive down prices.
Dan Wesson was Daniel B Wesson’s ( From Smith and Wesson) great grandson…He is related.
He absolutely is! That's what I get for making a video on the fly I knew that he was but being a BIG fan of the 445 Supermag of which I was asking for CZ to release I hadd 445 and Elgin Gates on the brain. OOOOOOps I will correct it when I can get all 4 brands out on the range together and make that video.
@@Dayattherange Not a big deal,.. I get things wrong more than I want to admit to… Getting old I guess?!😮
@@mikeseier4449 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Absolutely love my old Dan Wesson 15-2, switched the cylinder with a 715 to give it a two tone look, carry it in my galco vertical shoulder holster on occasion
If I'm not mistaken, I think the Dan Wesson revolvers frames were cast molded at Rugers plant
Now that's a great piece of history if true I was never aware of. Thanks for sharing. It would not surprise me as Ruger cast many for others.
I could see that, especially since the DW 44s have a similar disassembly as the Redhawk (no side-plate).
It was the favorite of long range pistol metallic silhouette people. GREAT REVOLVER
Like Arnold said "DO IT DO IT NOW!!!!!"
I love your enthusiasm!
Thanks JB how can we not have fun doing this.
Love my old school 15-2v in 357 mag
luv my ol dw 44hv,still shoots 1 inch groups at 100 yrds, w/6 in brrl n iron sites on rest o coarse!!!i also have the 4,8,10 in brrles, still rock n rolls
One of my biggest regrets in selling off my 445 supermag DW. I want to find another some day.
Oh man that one hurts
I have the blued 44 magnum with 8" and 4" barrels. It's an experience with 4" ported barrel. And one in 22LR.
Big Guy...Look to get a Ruger Red Hawk or Super Red Hawk for your test as well as the others you mentioned.
Great point no offense at all to Ruger they are still one of the best. I was so excited video was made on whim just forgot to mention them 😢
Look into Hogue’s wood grip offerings. - Thanks to the comments here, I just discovered CZ is now selling brand new barrels! How cool!
Had the chance to buy a Dan Wesson chambered in 375. Yes 375 I believe it was a shortened 375 Winchester cartridge and I will forever regret not buying it
Love your enthusiasm! I have the set of AHF, 200 year Constitution, commemorative 744 revolvers in Gold & Blue! My dad gave me the Blue one, 30 years ago, and I recently inherited the Gold one. Beautiful guns. They were fired very early on, so I shoot them, and love the feel & accuracy. Looking for the smaller barrels now. These babies have the 9" barrels. Great video!
Oh man you need to email me some pictures of those beauties don't tease like that 😁😁
GR8 VIDEO THNX
Ahhhh, you cracked me up brother, but I feel ya. Please CZ bring back the 44& 445. Great shooting!
I have a blued one. The trigger break is excellent.
Eli, i had a Dan Wesson in 357 w/6in barrel. (back when Dan Wesson still owned the company, they had alot of issues) Couldn`t hit the broad side of a barn standing inside of it. It got traded in on a S&W 686Plus, w/factory port. Never looked back. Never ever thought about buying another Dan Wesson again to this day.
I can understand especially if you get burned. Something about them just draws me in until I see the price people are asking for them. This one was much better than I can shoot but I think shooting all these 22's have really hurt my pistol and revolver shooting. lol
The Dan Wesson!!! Ooh lah lah!!!!!!
Good shooting!
I have 3 of them 2 10" 44 mag. and a 6" 357 mag. I bought the in the 70s. They great guns with a great design.
Wow Bill and you still have them that is outstanding.
Yes please bring all the 44 mags out along with a ruger too please!!
I have a Dan Wesson 741 SS
41mag AWESOME!
41 Magnum under appreciated cartridge
Hey buddy I know this is a year or so late. But CZ might still have some replacement barrels and shrouds available if you call them. There were making new barrel kits for a while. Also EKW makes custom barrels and shrouds occasionally and you can get put on a waiting list.
I don't care how late. This post was worth it. Thank you
Don't forget about the Ruger Red hawk
They also do well at 200 meters
I have a 715-2VH blued and a 744VH stainless both Monson made. When you get one of these you own the best. These are never sell revolvers.
Reintroduce the barrels & shrouds CZ, you'll make a fortune.
I had a ss dan wesson 445 super mag, sn 00076. I traded it for a set of new heads for my truck i needed more than the revolver. But i still regret it 35 years later.
Sorry to hear the 445 is still nothing but a dream for me
Sounds great to compare others
Get me all excited just thinking about 😁
Dan Wesson made some fine revolvers but I am not a fan of the muzzle blast amplifier.
You might need to try my Blue Dot accurate load of 16.2 grains with the 240 grain bullets and even my Lyman 255 grain Devastators with Gas Checks...
Is that BlueDot load used for a light show at night Wade? LOL --- Are you casting these 255gr loads?
I’ve had one of these for 40 years……8 “ with wood grips. Mine doesn’t have the barrel ports. And it doesn’t have the barrel nut like you have……mine uses the spanned wrench to tighten up the nut. Supposed to have the fastest “lock time” of most revolvers!!
And I used to own a .357 also….but sadly sold it!!
Man you sold the 357 I know that hurts. WOW 40 years that is awesome.
If your ever in western Pa. give me a shout and we’ll go to the club I belong to and you can shoot my .44 DW.
I’ve got a Ruger redhawk I’d like to throw in the mix and see how it compares to the others. 😋😋
Norman come on over 😁
Hell yeah 44 magnum shoot off
Roger super Redhawks are best I have shot.... it was worked over totally
I much prefer the Redhawks I like the lines better in other words it looks much better to me.
If you want THE really best (revolvers).... You need to get a hold of a Manurhin and Korth
Very well aware of the Korth have actually held more of them than I have Dan Wesson. My wallet just runs and hide when I try to justify the value. I never can find that wallet of mine when a Korth is around 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I have a 744-V with an 8in barrel, lb custom wood grips (Alibi) and I'm currrently thinking of picking up a 6in barrel from CZ for it. One of my favorite guns that I own.
Didn't know CZ was still making barrels for them. I do not see anything on their website.
@@Dayattherange CZcams in their infinite wisdom seem to be deleting my comments. It is on their website just gotta find the store link.
