  • In this video Stef and I attend a Focused Performance Trail Running Weekend with Geoff Brierley in Snowdonia. We had a fantastic time with a really great bunch of people and learned some valuable tricks and tips to improve our running. I can't recommend Geoff's events enough, this was our first of many. Nice one Dean. It's great to get together and pick up vibes and tips from the best or simply like thinking folk. I used to go to swim school with Terry Davies (Sharron Davies's father) and Archie Brew and it was invaluable to be in the midst of such talent. Here's to your trail running. Mark

      Thanks for watching Mark, I hope you are keeping well. We were in your neck of the woods a few weeks ago, we hired a camper van and headed for the Wye Valley and then on to the Brecon Beacons, such a beautiful place. I really enjoyed this weekend away in Snowdonia, great to meet like minded people and share stories and laughs. I find that's when I'm happiest, talking and listening to others. All the best, Dean

      @@DeanRead A real pleasure Dean. Hey good to hear you were down this way. What part of the Wye Valley? The Beacons are always good. So pleased to hear the weekend went well. Yes, resonating with other kindred spirits is the key to a healthy life. Peace dude.

      We went to Ross-on-Wye and then to the Forest of Dean for a run, such a beautiful area. We're keen to come back and do a few days Kayaking down the Wye next spring

    Catching up on your latest video from my B&B in Hawes. Looked a great training camp Dean. Interesting to watch the downhill technique. I’d like to give trail running a go but the fear of rolling an ankle etc has always held me back a bit. Looks like you’re getting a great base for some of those challenges you’ve planned

    What a great thing to do. The downhill running tips were really interesting. I ran too much on hard surfaces when younger and haven’t run for a long time due to knee pain especially downhill. Going to have to look into that. Looks like there could well be some techniques that would help a lot. Lovely area to run in too!

    • @DeanRead
      @DeanRead  Před 2 lety +2

      Thanks for watching Greg. It was a really great weekend and I got some great personalised tips. I love running down hill but I found I was like a clumsy herd of elephants 🤣 Geoff gave some great advice and now I feel like a gazelle, I probably don't look as graceful but in my head I do haha. I would highly recommend checking out his courses if you're interested. I didn't give away all the magic in the video as you can understand, I'm definitely going to get another booked in soon

    I’ve jumped over the blocked gate on the run. Didn’t help much I still could t continue at the next field. Turning around was the better option. It’s very overgrown there.

    • @DeanRead
      @DeanRead  Před 2 lety +2

      Thanks for watching Sean. They really need to fix that gate rather than block it, I had to wrestle with my urge to open up a right of way but decided not let the horses run free 😁

    • @DrBaxter22
      @DrBaxter22 Před 2 lety +2

      @@DeanRead the path is on the map going through the gate then east and dripping down to the main road. But the houses there have removed some on the hillside and the footpath almost ends on a cliff. If you can make it that far. I’ve put in reports with the council. But never seen anything happen.
      There’s also a route that spits off back towards the farms. Still not managed to access that yet.

    • @DeanRead
      @DeanRead  Před 2 lety +2

      Probably a good thing that we didn't jump over it then 😁 Fingers crossed the council get their act together and sort it out.

    How did you find the TerraUltra's over the mixed terrain?

    • @DeanRead
      @DeanRead  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks for watching Ashley. The TerraUltras have been great all round shoes, the grip is excellent and I have lots of confidence in them. I've done nearly 600km in them now and I can't fault them on any surface or terrain. Very minimalist so would perhaps prefer a little more padding but they've been great.
