- Police say they’re seeing more fraudulent car tags popping up around the area, and many of the temporary plates seem to be coming from Texas. News4’s Cory Smith worked with the I-Team to hit the road and find out what’s being done to crack down on this problem.

The states need to stop issuing temp plates.
They should be like New York State the vehicle has to be permanently plated before it hits the road
Texas passed a law that will end the issuing of paper plates this legislative session. It doesn't go into effect until 2025.
Fraud should be charged as Fraud. 5 months in jail, minimum and impound the car
Five months is nothing.
They should undo paper temporary license and start renting out license based on county, state, and the purpose of temporary movement (purchase, one-on-one location or others) in county, state or federal highways. Major dealers who does it legitimately gets the shaft of blame for those dealers who are fraudulent. Also, the network should be firewalled and password protected for limited access and not let outsiders do these. Try studying how Japan does temporary tags, which will not issue without insurance.
Just seize all the cars with fake tags. Seems pretty easy to solve...

They need to have the state highway patrol, and federal police to help the local police to crack down on those tags!
Penalties are probably a slap on the wrist.
The law changed in texas , you still have to get a vehicle inspection now.

@@user-hq4zj8ri3v all vehicles in Texas are required ti have insurance. If you get pulled over without it, they can tow you vehicle. But many still drive without it.
ive have my Texas Temp Paper License plate for almost 7 years
I see tons of MD plates in Virginia. MD allows people to use a post office box. One policeman explained to me Virginians do this to a avoid having VA plates. Perhaps to avoid paying VA personal property tax.

Make the punishment community service at the dmv!
The people next door to us have these on their vehicles and change them once a month without leaving town!!
Texas let’s you get them three times for a vehicle. That’s it. Local tag office has temp tags for like $50 a month. Still requires insurance, still requires inspection. After three months of temp tags they won’t sell them to you anymore for that vehicle.

Other states in the union should file a class action against pompous & grandstanding Texas for their pathetic DMV system of temporary tags.
Oklahoma does not even have an annual vehicle inspection.
Maybe if we didn’t have all the illegals invading our state and our country, having no respect for laws and just shitting on our country, maybe less of this would happen.
Make all paper tags illegal and allow metel tags only.its that simple
