Hi Dereck! Thanks for your react on Jeanne Mas. This song "L'Enfant" (The Child) was released in September 1986 as the second single from her second studio album "Femmes D'Aujourd'Hui" (Women Of Today), ranked no.3 for 4 consecutive weeks in the TOP 50 and sold nearly 500,000 copies, more than 650,000 for others .
It was released in a single version remixed by Dominique Blanc-Francard and became the success of the year 1986, knowing that "L'Enfant" is one of the rare ballads of this album and that its exploitation as a single wasn't going to not self.
The song talks about the daily life of a child in a country at war, starting from the dream of the female singer.
The clip was produced on August 30, 1986 by Jean-Pierre Berckmans in Italy in Fregene, a seaside town near Rome, Italy according to the singer's script.
The main character and the child (little boy), the female singer appearing in some "unreal" scenes being the only human being with whom the child will have contact as well as a balloon which will be the symbol of the contact between the young boy and the artist .
Since you have reacted to the main successes of Jeanne Mas, you still have a few songs from her third album "Les Crises De L'Ame" (Crises of The Soul) in 1989: "J'Accuse", "Carolyne" and "Bébé Rock" (1990) and also "La Bête Libre" (1987) a "live" single but reworked differently for the 45 RPM version and which will have a videoclip.
Thanks for your incredible job our Frenchie American homie. 👍🇫🇷

The album is very good, the message is coming from the bottom of her heart (she said). A great tune😊

Great memories from when I was 9 when I was in 3Th Grade. 😊🥰😍🤩
I remember this magnificent song (which my father also loved) around September 1986, especially the CLIP which was broadcast on the TV6 channel (ancestor of M6) which I often saw with that of "En Rouge Et Noir" released a few months earlier and especially the little boy who was about the same age as me.
I prefer the 45 rpm version than the album version (very different and less good in my opinion) which had been remixed for the occasion for the single version and also much shorter, this gives a little "young" touch to this adapted ballad on the radios of the time.
There is also a long version which makes 3 versions of the song in total.
An extraordinary era that we will never experience again!

I know youve reacted to Jimmy Somerville (Bronski Beat and Communards and mostly as a solo artist). There are 2 songs he recorded with the Communards on their last album together that has an Egyptian dance feel to it and that is a gospel type balad, both a a 10/10. They are called SO COLD THE NIGHT, and You Are My World. They was released in Europe and hit the Top 40 but would have hit higher but was the last singles released from the album. I hope you get the chance to listen to this otherworldly hits and hear Jimmy's voice hit notes you didn't think were possible. Please react to it, you will be so happy you did. And thank you for such GREAT CONTENT. Please, if you can listen to the studio versions.
