#Clapton #LetItRain #Mixolydian
Great lesson. Let it Rain also gives me that really good feeling every time I hear it.
You have the best taste. The outro jam is so fun! I love that you will do anything to teach people to play. I know that you don't like teaching licks, but that awesome accompanying Patreon video with the licks Clapton actually uses makes it really come to life. You have the very best Patreon channel.
Love the blending. Let it Rain is a great looper progression. Solo for daze. Good insights...as usual. 😎
One of my favorite Clapton songs.
Very good lesson, Stich. Thanks!!
have always loved this sing as well. let it Rain!
Nicely done! I agree you can't ever go wrong with Clapton. I always feel there is some magic in his music and learning how he does it is golden! Thanks.
💯
Love it !! Great breakdown of Clapton's style. Can't go wrong!
Thanks
PEACE from Philadelphia
This guy deserves way more likes than this.
Spooky! I’ve been jamming on Strange Brew the last few days....and here you come with Clapton! Love it! Keep on going with the good stuff, Ian!
Thanks, Stitch. There are so many CZcams guitar videos (aren't we so fortunate.!) and I find yours to be especially helpful. Many of us can play major or minor pentatonic until are fingers fall off and I recently finally learned all of the modes (not that I use anything other than Dorian, Mixo, Ionian 95% of the time anyway, though Lydian is kind of cool), but really zeroing in on what notes to hit as you go from chord to chord is what it's all about. I've learned a whole new appreciation for Uncle Jerry over the past few years, talk about using chords tone/notes and arpeggios!! BTW, I come mostly from the Duane Allman school of guitar and your video about soloing over Whipping Post (starting on anything other than A!) got me going on the Stitch method. Thanks, again!
Can you do a lesson on Lay Down Sally next?
You rock stichmo !!
Awesome video, thanks Mr. Stitch!!!
First time I heard this song and I love it! Thanks Stich for the tutorial.. What a GREAT solo! Already subs!
these jam tutorials are great, Stich. thanks!
Good Deal Brother really enjoy all your instructional videos you have a great way of teaching.
Thanks alot for such a very good lesson.
Cheers from Indonesia
Awesome lesson. This just got me sooo motivated to study Clapton.Thank you
Excellent demonstration on how to solo by integrating chord tones, and the A major, mixolydian, and minor scales, all in the key of D.
Thanks Stitch. Good stuff. 😎
Very helpful and insightful as always .... thank you...
Excellent. Thanks again.
Really nice lesson mate🙌
awesome stuff
Great lesson on phrasing !!!! Nice job !!!!
Wow you really can play . I might not ever play like that but l learned something so that’s always good! Thanks for another great lesson
Thank You!
Great lesson. Thank you!
Fab lesson !! Thank you
I love soloing to this.
Loved the lesson
Nice guitar work man
You can't go wrong with Clapton, I'm always in, thanks
Please make a video about figuring out songs by ear.
What I’m finding is I’ve done all this by shear repetition just trying to get it out. Eventually nailing it accidentally.
But Jeff Beck said, “you can’t plan accidentals” And your never lost makes perfect sense, your laying the map out. Thanks again!
Thanks, that was very inspirational.
Excellent!!! When the utube guitar teacher bubble bursts you will be one of survivors.
Stitch! No kidding, somehow you always come through with every new breakthrough in my playing. I've been looking all over on how to more effectively target chord tones with mediocre success. But the whole idea of sequencing each new "phrase" on the next chord tone up is already revolutionizing my playing, again! Such a simple concept yet soo ridiculously effective.
And shoot! Hope there's still time to submit for that giveaway! I wish I knew a bit better what you were looking for but I didn't even know the minor pentatonic scale until a few months ago and now you got me feeling like some kind of guitar guru myself(; so any kind of video or positive review that might help you is the least anyone could do! That guitar is beautiful though
Awesome lesson as always! I'd live to see a breakdown of Little Wing the SRV version!
very nice
Thanks
Awesome Sauce
Oh yeah really enjoyed it but always do Thanks
👍👏👏👏from an italian fan
Best guitar channel on youtube. Please do a Goose video!
Thanks for the lesson Stitch! If you haven't watched Echos in the Canyon on Netflix you gotta check it out. Reason I mention it is because the song Questions by Buffalo Springfield heavily influenced this song as admitted by Clapton. I was hoping you could maybe look at that song as well someday since there's not a single lesson regarding it anywhere online and it's a great track. Regardless, thanks again Stitch!
Cool vid stitch . Just saw that song done by Peter Frampton, Pat Simmons & Tom Johnston was pretty awesome . BTW l like your strat I just bought the same one only silver metallic. Love the P90 bridge pickup . Great tone what amp are u using ?
I always tell people that if you want to learn all there is to know about how to play the Major blues, listen to early Clapton. Indeed, you can learn practically everything from the first solo in Crossroads and the whole of Hideaway (off the Beano album).
Great lesson, it reminds me a little bit Dick Betts phrasing.
exactly very allman bros
I know that comment is off wall but it popped back in my head
This is a lesson i've been waiting for.
Dood 🎸🤘🏼
Jim Haubert here, I teach guitar and I will be robbing this from you to teach my intermediates, so thank you, always associated just the A Major scale to this one, Mixolydian gives it that certain flavor, you're the best Ian!!!
You can’t rob anything that’s free😬! Rock on
Isn't Boston's "More than a Feeling" solo on A mixolydian? Oh and you were very clear. Love this lesson.
Also, listen to this song on Derek and the Dominoes Live. The best song and just wonderful
Totally agree that this is a gem in Clapton's soloing that's often overlooked. And what a great example of how Mixolydian can provide a fun, upbeat flavor without making things too sweet like use of the ionian scale might have done.
Great lesson Stitch!
Bro what no way you watched the whole thibg
I was thinking the same thing, but maybe he watched it at 2x speed😄
Or... I just realized, he might be a patron and had access to the video early.... that too
@@StichMethodGuitar Or maybe he just knows it will be a good lesson, because it always is 👍
@@samnewlin9423 way bro
Awesome video! I would love to see in the mind of Neal Schon
Me too!
Great video, why does B minor pent or D major pent not get used if key is D. I still get confused as to why A minor pent and A maj pent work here too but it sounds great
Hey Ian can you make a vid on scar tissue soloing. Like super expressive soloing in d minor, for example scar tissue live at slane or chorzow? Much love from Toronto (:
Wonderful tone. Can you tell us where the controls are set?
Hi thanks for the tutorial. It is very helpful. What pedal or pedals are you using to get that distortion on a strat?
You should make a video on how you make these videos. Like what you looked at or listened for in order to learn what you needed to make this videi
😂🤣
Wow, more blown away by your playing ability on this one than any I’ve heard you play before. Incredible
I agree. I think this is probably one of his most progressive videos. In terms of the newfound insight and the application of it in his soloing. I've been working on targeting chord tones a lot lately and somehow it never occurred to me to sequence each "phrase" just one chord tone higher and higher. So simple, yet soo ridiculously effective.
ok yeah--wonderful tonight. lol
I realize this may not be up your street, Stich but just in case? WTH is this guy riffing on this song, please?? ‘My Tears’ by Earl & Duke Robards. Somebody goes off, wish I knew why it sounds so great.
thats a classic BB king style blues...great stuff
That smirk when you get to the end of the video without dropping a clanger in the solo..... (it can't be the first time ever on camera, can it?) :-)
Great video that man. Also have a listen to the Doobie Brothers with Peter Frampton version on CZcams. It's excellent....effortless soloing from Tom Johnston and Frampton
Fantastic video as always! Would you ever consider an "In The Mindset of....John Frusciante"?
yes, please!
Tasty.......indeed.
Hey brother. Amazing lesson. Thank you!
Is that guitar a 2018 Fender American Special Stratocaster HSS in fiesta red? How do you like it? Are there mods in it, or stock. It and you sound amazing! Thank you sir.
It is! Stock and love it! Thanks for the nice words
Nice! Thanks. There’s only one on reverb. Your words gave me confidence haha. Think I’m gonna snag it!
Do you give Private lesson
what strat is that??? thank you!!!
This must be one of this stratocasters they do this thing called rock'n roll with
Hey stitch just wondering if you've seen my giveaway entry yet?? Cheers.
I think some of Clapton’s best playing was on Roger Waters’ solo album The Pros And Cons of hitchhiking. He does all of the leads that aren’t slide. (Ry Cooder handled those)
Have you done a basic In The Mind Of: Billy Gibbons?
Best version of this is on the 40th anniversary of Derek and the dominos album.
mind blown plateau broken
I hope u seen the dead live ..and i mean jerry G..u said something any another video that made me feel old...i saw him in i think 94 right b r death ..i think...
Great stuff, how do I know that A major moving to G major is Mixolydian and not just A moving to the major flat seven?
Cause the internet has been lying to you🤣😳. The movement of two major chords a whole step apart is always a 5 to 4, staying in a key is the strength of music.... the term 1 to b7 is just an observation as if A was the one... it’s not. It’s the 5. Check out my videos... especially the modes videos... they explain it
@@StichMethodGuitar Thank You Ian
So, it seems that a major pentatonic has most of the notes in that scale's mixolidian scale. Is that right? And can I use a mixolidian scale for jamming whenever I could use a major pentatonic scale and vice versa?
You can use a Major Pentatonic for a Mixolydian Progression, but you can't always use Mixo where a Major would be, because the Major Pentatonic could be in place of a Major Scale and the Mixo would fit.
@@StichMethodGuitar Thanks, Stich!
In that opening lead, it sounded like Claton was in the mind of Duane Allman.
I was thinking the same thing. Or a side order of Phish served with it
Would I dont need no doctor by John Mayer be too much of an ask?
