- Decided to bring out the BEAST on this one haha. The MPC 4000 is what really taught me majority of what i know and gave me my creative habits when working on other DAW's or pieces of gear. So today, i take it back to my somewhat roots.. Also, massive shout out to TrackLib for sponsoring this episode and giving you all the promo code.

I wish you had a Discord or place to hang out Ricky, I'm one of your latest fans but since I met your channel I've been enjoying the hell out of your content and style, your chill vibes and point of view going from full technical to straight vibes only without never sounding arrogant, picky, but always humble and dedicated. I honestly admire you, and I don't even produce House music but freaking Synthwave lol, but regardless of music and genres, I'd love to see more sample packs from you, more content, more insights, because you seem one of those rare people who spread positive vibes and make life easier to the ones surrounding you.
All the best bro, knowledge really is power but with your fine taste and attitude, even heart gets his shiny moments, peace! :)
Daaammmnnn Gianluca tugging at my heart strings! Thank you for the kind words it really means a lot! Maybe in the future but as of now trying to keep my life as simple as possible haha so having the day job. Music. The channel. And everything else I think I found a nice balance right now. But your words don’t go unheard! Thank you
Hey Ricky I'm early, I just wanted to say I love your videos and wanted to say you inspired me to start producing music myself by not pretending to be overly complex like so many producers and just keep it real, thanks for being the best guy on youtube
Hell yea Daniel! Keep that simplicity going. As Rick Rubin says. How can you say the most with the least going on. That’s powerful
Hey Ricky. 7AM in Germany and I'm chillin with a coffe under the sheets watching your MPC videos. You. made me get a Live 2 and I'm having so much fun. You inspire a LOT of people man! Happy to be part of this channels' followers :-) take care !!
I will never not be impressed by the pure speed of any of your workflows on just about any device. So inspiring.
Muuussccllleee memory. Get yolk’d 💪
My girlfriend's out of town, but I'm in good company. Never stop, Ricky
This is a bop! When the filter came in....oooh wee! Finish and release it!!!!!!
It has become part of my Sunday morning to get me my first cup of coffee of the day and watch the video you have uploaded. You have your special way of, well, being entertaining, as well as inspiring … and I always find something to learn, to pick up and try. It is just great!
That said, I want to thank you: for putting in the time, again and again, for sharing all those things in your unique and friendly way. Thank you, Ricky! Doing all that, your music, sharing your music making along with lots of other things, and all that on top of your day job … 'appreciating it' may be the correct phrase, but it totally fails to express the gratefulness on my side for what you are doing.
I love watching these vids not only cause they are awesome but because I really like the house music you make, always a groove
For myself personally I've been most fascinated with the MPC 4000 and 5000. You could almost use the $5,000 as a multi-track recorder and editor and do everything on the 4000. The 4000 is my favorite unit!
The mpc 4000 is one of the best looking The blue gos great with the white
Sharing you knowledge, your enthusiasm, your skills and creativity ... it's always a real pleasure to watch your videos on a lazy Sunday ! Thanks so much, Ricky and cheers from France far west 😘
maaaan what a groove! your old school mpc videos are what first brought me to your channel so this was a welcome throwback :)
love this content. i just bought a mpc4000 last week and your videos have been helpful. this machine is a beast!
I love house music and every single time, you make something amazing. I always wanted to learn to make house music like you do, and you've really inspired me to put time into learning it.
This is really dope and inspiring stuff !🙌🏽🔥
Thanks for this and all your other great video's Ricky !
Every time I come back to see Ricky's new videos, it makes my day so much more interesting.
I remember starting to watch your videos a while ago to learn how to use things and having no idea really what house music was, it just wasn't my jam. But man between these and compact creations, there's something so mad at watching the track get built up, that I finally *got it* and I just start GROOVIN'. I've started listening to rando house music mixes on youtube and everything. Thanks for the inspo ricky!
appreciate the utter beuty of your production value in both music and video content.
Your self moderation had me dying, can't wait to hear this finished track, dope shit!
MpC 4000 is the best ! I use mine every day
I have never enjoyed it so much your videos like all your videos about the MPC 4000
Hello! Are you going to make more videos on 4000? Cant wait, your videos really inspire!
Great video again Ricky !
Love to see the white whale surface ! You should do more tutorialwise videos on the 4k :D !
Nice Ricky. I have just finished building my straw earth building and the 4000 is the centre piece - I have a similar speed and flow to you though more often hip hop - sometimes house - I remember messing about with Phillip Glass samples on the q-link cut-off and had fun like that.
Love seeing your work flow.
You are still quite unique in focusing on music making in itself. Nice work!
I love these beats! 🙂🔥 Everything you make sound so good! 🙂 Love your channel! So well produced and you show the whole workflow. Love it! 🙂
God, Ricky, you know? Sometimes I just can't finish you videos!
...because I find them so inspiring I just cut out and start making a track myself ;). Thanks for the positive vibes! Love your stuff so much!
Great! Hope to see more 4k videos on your channel!
Livin the vibe of this tune. Great to see how u put it together.
u really do b livin it tho
always a blast to watch you make music. peace!
A beginners guide on setting a studio would be great, such as what you should get first, what you should spend more on or less on. Alot of people go into their studio and get overwhelmed with how many options there are and other guides don't really cover it very well and just give you a shopping list
How you populate your studio is a personal thing you have to learn by yourself I think. You'll need to find the gear you feel comfortable with and brings you musical inspiration and creativity. No one can teach you that, it's in you.
While I am relatively new to using it and definitely do not subscribe to the vintage unit religion: I guess most people here might agree that a contemporary MPC (preferably not the One if it's your first device) will be a very good option for something to get first ;).
Nothing like the comfortable clicks and zipslides from the shuttle wheel.
The zen of mpc.
Hey Brother... I am thoroughly enjoying these vidz - I've dusted off my MPC lately as well, and diggin the results... While these machines require work to program, they lend themselves to inspiration... just like it struck you in this clip. Thank you for the inspiration and for sharing! ✌ Yay for Math! LOL
Long time viewer but there's something about this track that just kills.Hope this gets released so I can play it on air!
The 4000 got the advanced functions of the AKAI S sampler series combined with the legendary sequencer and workflow of the MPC. Goated machine
I have a 4000 I basically stole at a yard sale for $75. lol. I LOVE it.
@sports fan Indeed!
Massve French House vibes, just needs the pump and dirt!
Exactly. My usual go to is the compressor on the sp404! It’s magic with an MPC. You just need to get the mix right and you’re 👌
Loved this jam!! Great video mate
I subscribed to Tracklib directly from a link from a past MPC live sampled house video you made. I love Tracklib.
Ricky I'm a recent subscriber... please never stop making these amazing videos. Huge fan of yours already.
Im always amazed with how Much cool gear ricky has and the fact hes got it all figured out
The 4k don holy
This is a beautiful song!!!
I've been using the exact same workflow when chopping and testing out ideas for the past 15 years. Including the live filter use. And I've used the same sample from Tracklib, with very similar results LOL. Great to see like minds. This video makes me want to go back to my MPC 1000 or 2500 instead of the One. Chopping things up goes quicker in the One, but filtering live is much more fun on the older MPC's.
Bout to go spend some quality time with my 1000 after seeing that ! Sweet vibes man!
love this guy
props on the spent gaff prop.
So glad i stumbled upon your channel! The lighting/mood of your space matches my studio & perfecr to have your videos as a backdrop. Also can we download this track? Would love to zone out to this lol
oh yes! That was a great episode! It really makes me want to work on a MPC! I have to check out how to "play" a sample chopped up in ableton with simpler. it is not difficult I guess, but I did not do it on a regular basis! great track you have there!
Thanks Schlapbe! yea a lot of waht i di in Ableton Live is how the MPC workflow forced me to do things haha! It def helped me get creative in more powerful tools
This song turned out Dope!
Am back from work and Can see the video to the end nu. I enjoy your work. And how you make videos 🇩🇰
wudup wudup! love your stuff Ricky
Damn! Love it.
The little filter offset trick is such a great sound and vibe.
Can anyone think of a way this can be done on the Octatrack?
Also more Octatrack vids please Ricky!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Good lesson teacher
a 30 min ricky tinez video!!! hell to the yes. say less :)
Instant vibes here bro peace!
Dude please release this track! Love the vid 🤝
On the DX7's envelopes, the R stands for Rate and L for Level... so think of the R's as how fast it transitions from L1 to L2 etc.
Love all the videos, but the MPC ones are the Best!
Man.. I f*ck*n* love you Ricky.
Great video, great vibe 👌✨
Thanks Julian!I really appreciate having you around the channel
Ricky! when you tour you gotta make a stop in manhattan ks right in the middle of the usa, i book at the far out arcade you gotta come!
This was fascinating, I totally missed old school sampling back in the day and want to give it a go now (albeit digitally with Ableton). Did I hear correctly that the samples practically wrote a bassline themselves when you low pass filtered them? At least it sounded like a damn sweet bass groove.
Super fun video!!!
Dam bro that track is fire 🔥
Ricky, when you do it it looks so easy. I just can't comprehend how you do it. I'm trying to replicate what you are doing in Ableton but I'm not getting anywhere. Do you have any tips on how to deal with frustration as a beginner? Sometimes I just feel like giving up. Thanks for all the beginner-friendly and in-depth content. Much love!
What’s up Ricky just a quick question on how you feel about midi controllers like the akai mpk and do you feel like it really has an mpc feel with the pads ?
3rd time I've watched this video. Can you do one like this cutting audio in Ableton and using push 2 in the same style you do MPC videos?
he back! he spells!
Awesome
You make the weekend THE time to look forward to - I just now realized: I look forward to your channel's weekend post because it's my "grown-up version" of the good old Saturday morning cartoons of yore! YES!!! Hmmmm.... Anyways... Would (could) there be a "You Know The Drill..." panel hat in the future???
20:17 the main sub-bass frequency seems to be primarily coming only in the left speaker channel
Breathe Enrique. Lol Rick. I like Rick. Cool guy
When are you going to release the Ricky Cut where you do say and show everything you're doing while using the MPC? 😀
#stumble you night fall# Great stuff. appreciate your efforts. No that sounds wrong, i like your stuff.
I am in love with you're cap! Amazing!! See you later Oscilator!
Lolol. Sweet tuneee. Damnn
Dk why but I love the clicky sound of the MPC buttons
Dope tune
Great video as always. RE the MPC - i think I'd like to smash away at those nice big pads and make beats and basslines, but everything beyond that (the editing and fine-tuned stuff) doesn't appeal to me as much as other hardware/ software. Interesting though.
Niiiiccceeee Ricky 👏 👏 👏
and another one!!
the assigning of the pads across the banks... how do you save this? as a program? i hit save all but it did not save my sounds loaded and assigned in kg mix to the pads. thanks man
Nice track Brother.
Ricky have you finished and released this song somewhere? These samples were siiiick and I want to listen to it more!
MPC 4000 and MPC One makes the same button and wheel noises lol. Listing with headphones. Don't know why background sounds are in the forefront.
Hey Ricky.. I have a problem when playing sounds like pads or long basses on the pads of the MPC4000. I have no mute group selected and not using one shots. I play a long note on the first pad. When I hitting another pad while holding this pads both sound play. But when I release the first pad then the second pad stops to . Do you know this phenomenom?
My GOD this shit is so fire 🔥!!
Do you ever use rackmount samplers?
thats a baaaaanger nice
That title though. I wish CZcams allowed the pepeLAUGH command 🐸😂😁. I feel you. That Live II is a pretty damn good excuse to get rusty on the 4k.
yo those switches on your 4k sound amazing. I had to replace the ones on my 1000 a while back and ended up with some really clicky buttons. I'm wondering if those are stock switches or you found some buttery smooth switches elsewhere. Also, can't believe I've never realized you can use the slider for the mixer section. I imagine there's all sorts of shit I'm missing that makes these devices the legends they are - I hope to discover them all. Great beat and thanks for the peek into your workflow yet again. More MPC and Octatrack videos, please...
What’s up Alf! Yea the sliders on almost all MPCs work wonders in certain pages. You can use them on the 1000 and 4k to adjust start and end points. Volumes. Sends. Automation recording. Tons of stuff! I always dig around and try random things and figure it out by accident haha.
I love the hard clicks buttons on he older MPCs the newer live II has some soft rubber buttons which are 🤢 I love that I can slap these and know where I’m going haha. These are stock and haven’t been replaced.
@@RickyTinez thank you very much for the answer, dawg. Shame the newer models don't have the same respect for feel as the legacy ones do. It's everything!! You look like you know your way around that machine with the lights off so I'm glad something as silly as some soft buttons ain't getting in your way. And that's awesome the stock switches have held up. Enjoy your weekend brotha
Dope. You make it look easy. Well played, sir. Well played. Golf clap.
Sidebar, that 4000 is a friggin' behemoth. I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing - the user experience seems pretty dope. Complex routing options, a decent screen, satisfying button clicks, etc. it def has a lot going for it. But size cuts both ways. I recently picked up an OP-Z, which isn't quite as powerful as the 4000 but almost and it fits in my pocket. It still kinda blows my mind how powerful that little thing is. That said, sometimes I really wish it had some sort of dock accessory with finger pads and buttons and knobs that I could really bang on, like an mpc type of device. I wonder if such a system already exists, and if not I'm gonna need anyone reading this to sign an NDA because I'm totally going to make that shit ;)
Nice 1 fella. You also have a MPC2000? Mine has been in storage for... 5 years? Anyway, I'd love to see you play with a 2k!
Wow so cool. what a vibe! I own some Elektron gear, had an MPC 5000 and h a t e d that thing, just could not deal with it. But I do want to slice samples. So now what? Get an Octatrack which is cool but so limited - which might be good - or give one of those MPC live things another chance. I don't know. Choice isn't always a good thing hahaha.
BEASTY.
👌
saturday ricky hype
Bitwig, you say  Once you go Bitwig you'll be spoiled, Ricky :D (And with Driven By Moss you can use your Push 2 >_> ). Cool video, though, sometimes it's nice to go back to an old friend.
merci beaucoup monsieur, bonsoir de France 🙂
