@@teriraketty7760 confit is when you cook something in oil at lower temperatures than you would use for frying in oil. Makes very tender vegetables that spread like butter if you crush them with a knife.

"use this responsibly" dude, that sentence sounds like you just gave us forbidden knowledge
Garlic-flavored oil may be a staple in your kitchen, but if you're preparing your own at home you may place yourself at risk of botulism. Spores of Clostridium botulinum are found in the soil and may inadvertently contaminate your bulb of garlic. When exposed to oxygen these spores are harmless.
However, Clostridium botulinum spores thrive in an oxygen-free environment at temperatures of 50 degrees Fahrenheit and above, warns Michigan State University.
Your homemade garlic-flavored oil stored in your kitchen cupboard is the perfect environment for the growth of this dangerous bacteria. Furthermore, the bacteria are odorless and tasteless, so there's no way to know until after you've gotten sick.
If you make your own garlic oil, Michigan State University recommends you keep the oil in the refrigerator and discard after three days. If your flavored oil is kept at room temperature for more than two hours, you must throw it away or risk garlic poisoning.
You'd probably be fine tho.

That's not roasted garlic tho......
Thats literally called garlic confit (to cook something submerged in fat, like oil)
If you only partially submerge the garlic in the oil then it's technically roasted garlic because you'll get that nice brown color on top of the cloves.
I appreciate u pointing out the distinction. You are a true garlic enthusiast or obsessive compulsive. :)
@@John-ky2xm Confit (basically braise in fat) is a common technique, it's not just limited to garlic (duck Confit for example)

This dudes voice is oddly calming
Genius! It was always a little annoying to cut the bulb in half and roast them in aluminum foil, sometimes it wouldn't be sealed all the way and I'd get oil spilling into my oven, plus squeezing out the garlic is kind of messy. I've got to try this method!
I bake a couple of cloves whenever I make fish or chicken. I put whole cloves next to it And when it is done you give a little squeeze at one end and it comes right out and it’s delicious
Was concerned by the amount of oil he used but when he showed how it's not going to waste, I felt so relieved.
I got asked to never come back to church while eating garlic because when I sang everyone died
"Extra slippery fun time."
Don't keep this garlic for too long and store in the fridge, high risk for botulism. I wouldn't recommend longer then 3-4 weeks.
What if i keep it in the freezer?
@@Aeybiseediy maybe it would be better but what I do is just make smaller batches so it doesn't last as long! Id rather make confit every couple weeks then get botulism.
Doesnt the food have to get contaminated with botulism, and then stored in order for it to grow? It’s not like botulism just appears from nowhere and begins growing in a container of sterile food
@@2010Failbrids How will you know? It's Russian roulette with garlic confit, better not take your chances with it. Garlic in oil has a chance of botulism and I'd rather not make it and keep it for a long time, like I said I just make it in small batches so the chance is very minimal, I hope you do the same!
this looks sooooo good omg i love garlic! :)
can u teach us how to make garlic bombs for steak next if u have time? :)
What in the world is a garlic bomb?
@@bonnieparkertheoutlaw7353 cut a whole garlic head in half horizontally (so each clove is split in half), pour some olive oil on the exposed cloves, add some salt, wrap in tinfoil and bake (the longer you bake the less raw garlic-y it tastes). @@bonnieparkertheoutlaw7353 you hollow out a grenade and replace the insides with garlic...boom garlic bomb. Highly effective against vamps 🤣
Looks good. It’s more like confit garlic or deep fried garlic, than roasted garlic. Lightly oiled would be roasted, rather than completely submerged. The flavour would also be different
