    Superb video! Your video is high res and clear, your instructions simple but exhaustive, and your speech slow and understandable. As a new E60 owner it made me MUCH more comfortable with jacking up the car.

    Just a tip - I painted my front centre lift pad bright RED for people doing rego inspections, tyre fitters, wheel aligners etc. Otherwise they'll jamb trolley jacks randomly under your engine cover and crack it, and also dent the alloy stress plate. And I make sure I show them where to lift my car from only.

    Key point to remember is to untorque the lug nuts, while the tire/wheel is still on the ground, once it's in the air you will have nothing to prevent the wheel from spinning (especially the fronts, the rear you could apply the parking brake)

      Yes, for sure- if the job you are doing requires the wheels to be removed from the car. This video was solely “How to Jack up a BMW E60 M5” and not specific to any job that may follow. Thanks for watching

    Of all vids , thanks this was the best explanation thanks, I can’t find anything on X5 lifting with jack the rear section so as to place on jacks, but this is pretty close to the mark, thanks

    Hi M Teck guy. Do you know if the handbrake cable can be tightened up. Very informative and helpfull videos thanks

      Thanks man, glad you found the videos helpful.
      The handbrake on the E60 isn’t adjustable at the cable, it has a service lock at the handbrake lever, and the adjustment is made at the shoes.

    I have the same car and want to replace rod bearings at home. I don't have a service lift and I wonder if there is sufficient room under it using your method for the job, as the subframe has to be lowered.

    • @MTechGuy
      @MTechGuy  Před 3 lety

      Yes no problem, get a decent set of axle stands for the height. I’d feel comfortable doing the job on these 3000kg stands (extended) in the video 👍

    Is it better to jack this car up at the rear on the crossmember of the rear subframe vs the diff? On my E92 M3 I do the initial lift there just behind the diff. Makes me nervous lifting the car with the differential…

    • @MTechGuy
      @MTechGuy  Před rokem

      Lift it on the iron portion of the diff, it’s fine 👍

    I got a low profile, elongated jack...and it still can't seem to reach the front central jack point! How did your relatively regular looking one fit under there?

    • @MTechGuy
      @MTechGuy  Před 2 lety

      Is your car lowered? Mine is standard ride height. To get your jack under the front, either run the front wheels up on some wood first, or alternatively jack up at one of the front jacking pads at the sill with a 2nd jack first- just enough to get your main Jack under the front centre jacking point 👍

      @LeedsHypnotherapist Před rokem

      The way I do it now, rather than struggling with the front jacking pad, is to jack up using the rear side pads one at a time and put the jack stand under the front pad. So much easier and saves a lot of time.
      If you want to check jack up the rear use the diff or rear subframe if you can get to it

    I always remove the wheels and put them under the car, that way i know i am 100% safe.
