- This week we are adding height and supports for vining plants to our raised beds with a beautiful metal arch and obelisks. As always, we have never done this before, but learning on the job seems to be how we roll here! By choosing rebar, we are making the strongest and most sustainable choice for our garden, and Jack gets to play with his latest toy, a mig welder, the result is beautiful additions to our french country garden that are going to serve us well for many years to come! Only a few tears along the way...

I envy a woman who is able to find a man so patient and making his wife content.and no screaming and shouting.well done
I couldn’t be happier to do it, she works much harder than I do ❤️ like most mums!
You win the award for most patient, clever, pleasant, kind and loving husband. 💙
He definitely does, I think he’d probably say he puts up with even more off camera 😂 so lucky to have him.
I'm betting any woman watching this is feeling the same.what a lucky woman you are to have such a dedicated husband and patient too
Endless patience 😇
Amazing work Jack! I like your commitment to the fact that you see the possibility instead of impossibilities❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you! 🙏 ❤️❤️
You two are so beautiful together. Love your arch and how the garden is coming to life. Not only are you blessed to have each other but also your beautiful kids having you both setting such a beautiful standard for their lives. Thanks Becs for making me cry happy tears of gratitude with you ❤
Aw you’re too sweet 😍😍thank you
jack i think you did really a splendid job of the design
Thanks! We modelled it off the existing fencing we have in front of the big house (though not quite as intricate 😂)
Oh my goodness you can't cry Becs, you'll set us all off! 😏Jack, is there anything you find too difficult? Absolutely loving the potager. 🤩
I’m finding it hard to stop at the moment 😉 so excited to see the garden come to life with all the bees and the butterflies living Becs plant choices 😂
I enjoyed that SO much! The serpentine pieces of arbor are gorgeous, and the 'fountains' turned out perfect. Becs, it is indeed an amazing feeling to see your dreams come to life. You two are a fantastic team 🥰
Glad you enjoyed it, Ginger! We really couldn’t do this with anybody else ❤️
What a great team you both make. One with the ideas, and the other brings the ideas to life ❤.
Jack, you have surpassed yourself this week. There is no limit to what you can do. You are so artistic, imaginative and hard working. I love the different ways you bent the rebar, my favourite was bending the rebar through the handle of a garden spade whilst the spade was anchored between the wooden strats of the bench.
So entertaining and a joy to watch. Thank you.
Haha I’m so glad someone else liked that! I was over the moon when I found the spade 😂😂 was just the right shape.
Garden is looking stunning will be great when the Trellis covered in plants!
Thanks Dennis, we’re so excited now to see them grow up up up!
Hi Jack and Becs. Another amazing, productive week. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the gardens and amazing art you, Becs, imagined and you ,Jack, made for her. You two are such a joy to watch❤❤❤
You are truly a jack of all trades. Bravo!!!!
🤣 I see what you did there Dolores! Glad you live the garden as much as we do Kathy!
I’m impressed with your positive attitude and willingness to try things out of your comfort zone, well done mate !
Cheers! This one has been especially fun 🤩
Great Job Jack in the Garden
Thanks Chris! Can’t wait to see it all covered in plants 🌱
That barn is every diy’ers dream!!❤
Haha yeah it's a blessing and a curse, 🙈 we're far too good at filling it with stuff 😜
Another skill mastered! Just in time! Your garden is becoming a wonderland…Don’t cry, Becks! 🐥🐥 🐥
Haha you’re too kind! I dunno about mastered yet, but I’m looking forward to more practice 😁
You both are such creative people. Has anyone ever told you that you look like Actress Natalie Woods, and Jack looks like Actor Orlando Bloom? Love watching as you restore your home.
😂Haha thank you! We do hear that sometimes. Becs is definitely the creative one though.
Fantastic job with the garden obelisks and arch ❤❤ hilarious when the dog was introduced to the chicks and it was licking it's lips!! 😂😂😂
Haha yeah I imagine he’ll change his tune when they’re bigger than he is 😂
What a lovely couple.
I love the arch. I love it when things come together. Great job guys
Cheers Mike!
Impressive arch!
Add a fleur de lis! I love how you are in to your wife❤
Ooh that’s a great idea! Of course, how could I not be! 😉 ❤️
Perfect couple🧿😍
Discovered your vlog last week and have binge watched each episode to catch up. Really enjoying your progress and enthusiasm.
Oh wow that’s awesome! We’re stoked to have you along for the ride 🤩
You two are just wonderful.
❤
You’re too kind ❤️❤️
Nice work ! 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
It's such a joy watching your channel!
They look gorgeous! 😍
Thanks! 🙏
Fantastic job ..looks lovely😊 ✌
Thanks so much 😊
Gorgeous
So cool! you both are so creative ❤
Glad you like them! Becs is definitely the creative one haha, she has all the ideas
‘They look munted’ 😂😂😂 bit harsh - but …. best kiwi phrase of your videos so far
😂 when I watched it back I thought oh no, people are not going to know what that means (outside of speaking kiwi)! And yes, a bit harsh but very happy they’re all perfect now 😅
You are a very talented man. It's beautiful! 😊
Thank you! Yes I’m very lucky to have Jack, it’s amazing what he can learn from other CZcamsrs 🤩
I love how Bec went from tears of joy to that looks like chit!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I made an arch of rebar, but sadly the heat from the sun heated the metal and burnt all my plants, I hope you have more shade and it will be ok, if you notice plants are dying, that's probably why.
Well you know, can’t be letting him get a big ego now 😂 but absolutely thrilled in the end. Oh wow, I’ll be honest, we did not think about that!! We will have to watch closely. Thanks for the heads up.
I love the new editions to the garden ❤
Thanks!🙏
I am loving your vlogs, thankyou
No thank you! 😁 glad you love them
Jack's work shed would be the envy of my husband. Pleased to say he has had big sheds in the past, but those days are behind us. Doesn't stop my husband from dreaming. Good welding work. Best wishes
Aah yes the barn is great! Plenty of room to make a mess 😂 best to you too
Very well done!! 👏😁🥰🥰❤
Thank you Chris! 🤗
U need to paint ur work black or white whatever u plan on painting ur fence above ur stone! Painting them all the same time would be great it wouldn't look so haunted 😊 good work! 😊
Yeah would be lovely to get them all looking the same. One day!
Hey Jack and Becs. Another great video. Loving your new garden and the steel work.
Amazing that you have baby chicks. We are in our second attempt to hatch them in an incubator. Fingers crossed
Have a great week you lot 🇫🇷👍
Ooh good luck with that, looking forward to seeing them! You have a good one too, say hi to the cows from us 🤣
@@growinginfrance I’ll say hi this afternoon. Mowing the bottom field this avo. Trying to make some sort of fancy meadow. What could go wrong lol
Absolutely amazing, I cant get my husband to change a light bulb !!!!!
In fairness, welding is a lot more fun 😂 😂😂
Love them. Great job!
Cheers! Fingers crossed I can keep them consistent for the next ones! 😬
You both are just so sweet and kind to each other. I adore it! Also, from experience... you may want to put chicken wire under the coop as well. We lost all of our chicks due to a critter digging under the coop.
Thank you for this tip! What was the critter? We only have wee moles around here and they’re harmless for chickens
@@growinginfrance stray dogs, raccoons, skunks and rat snakes.. Texas here! I guess I don't know what is in France, haha!
@@user-zf3yo8zu1x oh wow! That’s a whole lot more to worry about 😬
What a creation. Truly splendid ✅✅✅✅✅✅✅
Thank you so much 😀
Love everything ❤️, my only thought is you definitely need a way bigger chicken coop.❤
This is basically just for them to sleep and lay in, but for the most part they’ll be free ranging 👌 and unless we got crazy lucky, I don’t think all 20 are hens 😬
I was thinking the same. Maybe Jack can use some chicken wire to extend the yard area they can run around in. Just be sure to make a wire top as well to keep ravens and other critters away. 😊
Another chateau in France (chateau diaries) had all their chickens killed by a fox..it wasn’t pretty. They had to build a high brick wall around them, could be a bit devastating for your kids to find. Free range is great till that happens, a long chicken run around the edge of a garden is another idea I’ve seen. Love your vids you’re so talented
This was amazing! Y’all are the cutest btw ❤
Haha aw Thank you!! ☺️☺️☺️
The arch is fabulous!!! How clever and super effective!
Thanks! Hope the cucumbers like it too 🥒
@@growinginfrance will you do a garden tour of the beds to show us what you chose to go where/ co planting etc.... i am a totally gardening numptey and love the idea you have of food and flowers together
@@MrsPaperArtsy Yes! I can't wait to talk about all that :)
one in 2 out 😂🐥
Haha and then three out when we try to close the lid! 😂😂😂
👏👏👏👏👏💪💪
Few hours later thought: After the rust issues with the bathtub, does your garden art need any treating against rust?
🤣🤣 don’t remind us about the bath! Hahaha no that’s a good point, we’re actually cool with the rust look, love the colour in the garden and we’ll happily rebuild when they eventually wear down. Jack is already keen to get to more welding 😁
Your rebar garden furniture is great. I paid quite a bit to have a local lady metalworker make me stakes to hold up our very large Abraham Darby rose. They look like tree branches and blend in, not decorative like your work.
Ooh I love that idea, not sure I could pull it off just yet but maybe soon. Any excuse for more practice! 😂
Have you done a walkthrough of the big house yet? Maybe Ive just missed that.
Yes, it’s the main video if you go to our channel 😊
@@growinginfrance Thanks, I’ll go and watch it now.
Awesome welding skills!!! Did you get the welder from Lidl?
Sure did! I think the Parkside tools are soo underrated. They’ve never let me down, and they help keep things affordable 😁
@@growinginfrance I’ll look out for one, cheers mate
Think I’d have just done a small circle lol
😂
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏♥️♥️🥰🥰🙏🙏🇨🇦
🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️😊
i like them also in my garden .. do you make them alo in a order ? and what will that cost ? please
Are you in France too?
@@growinginfrance not yet ..but wil buy a house overthere soon
@@alberthameijer9037 hit us up when you touch down and I’m sure I can make a couple extra 😉
Just to let you know the rebar will rust.
Yes we actually love the rust colour and how it blends in, behind the plants. Part of the reason we chose it. Plus Jack had so much fun he’ll be dying for another chance to make some new ones when they eventually wear out 😂
❤
😍
