I always thought Dan was crazy doing stuff on his own, but you two are barking mad! 🤣🤣🤣
Haha mad like Dan, we'll take it! 😂 I think next time we do a lintel, we'll have to get one of those forklifts that he has!
As someone who’s suffered from life changing chronic pain for 10 years, after pulling up a carpet during renovations…listen to your body. It tells you when its too much & i wouldn’t wish what I’ve gone through in my worse enemy. Please don’t do that again.
We definitely won't be lifting any more lintels like that. Hope you find some relief, thank you for sharing the hard-won advice.
I almost had an anxiety attack watching you two with that lintel!!!!! New subscriber, and I just love your antics and videos. It is very refreshing !!!
Haha yeah this was a bit scary for everyone involved 😂 glad you like them, it’s great to have you along for the ride 😊
OMG! Jack, you are Crazy! Please don’t do that again! You got very lucky this time. Poor Becs must have been terrified! Becs I can’t wait to watch your part, painting and decorating then Jack can cook and watch the kids😅
HUGE congrats for getting that lintel up the stairs! 👏👏 That took some commitment to the task and you managed so well! 👌
Ooft that looked hefty! 😮💨 was kind of waiting for it to fall out the window! 🫣 glad it didn’t…
Me too!! And so glad it went relatively smoothly. I said, look, we built the pyramids once upon a time, we can get this lintel up there now😂
You guys are amazing. The view will be worth all the hard work.
Thank you! That's so kind 😊Yes, can't wait to finally relax in front of the view!
“How are we getting it up there?” “With the power of hoop!” Clearly!😂 Well done guys, that’s one heck of a job ticked off
When finishing your window, you are good to re-do your roof insulation. "Laine de verre" is an old way of not properly insulating an house😂. Instead, use something like "Laine de chancre" which gives the possibility to humidity to cross through the insulation avoiding the uncomfortable inner feeling of cold. Use twice 20cm large panels that you criss cross to avoid thermic bridge and on top you don't need to fix a "par-pluie".
Watch Escape to Rual France he uses a floor fork and wench! 😊
he definitely has more experience than us (and more tools), won't be doing it our way again any time soon! Thanks for the tip.
Pardon my ignorance but a wooden one wouldn’t work?! Unreal how heavy that must have been. Or pour a lintel in place?
Our region (the Charente) is known for woodlice and termites, and wooden lintels are the first thing to rot and wear away in these old houses, otherwise we’d definitely have gone with a wooden one! 😅 and this is to maintain the look of the facade, but we did pour the rest of the lintel in as reinforced concrete 👍
Lovin the Kiwi voice. Please please never work with Daniel Preston without emergency services in attendance
Haha glad you’re a fan of the accent! is that Dan from escape to rural france? 😬 is he even more dangerous than us?
Check out what he is doing on Escape to Rural France. You two would make awesome friends to shoot ideas off of.
I’m just a little concerned that you have no eye protection on. You only get one set of eyes, please get yourself some sort of eye protection! This is a long term project you will need your eye sight to get through the whole project!
You’re absolutely right, it’s something I’m working on, and Becs is great for reminding me. Appreciate your concern!
@@growinginfrance I’m telling you, you will have many women mothering you here😅. We just want you and your sweet family to be safe❤
I just watched this today. At 68, I about had a heart attack watching you two love birds (yes, you both are an exemplary married couple and parents!). Patience and determination are building this house, and the way you treat each other with love and kindness are making it a home. I have so enjoyed watching your videos. Love your stone garden beds...great job! 🎉
Thank you so much ❤️❤️ Your comment is so kind, totally made our day! We're very glad to have you along for the ride.
